  1. Well I've finally took the class and it works pretty weel for me.

I studied an intensive course with Aree and she is flexible with time which suit my needs.

Since I learnt how to write and read myself and she tought me conversation which is a perfect match for me

I went and had a look at Sanithai, it's like a studio room that I used to live in. Is it just Aree or does she have other teachers there?

Do you think she is a good teacher?

    Thanks

  2. Thanks,

I am not sure if Thailand offers distant ed for internationals (I am still looking at doing that from my home country)

I will lok into evening studies, I live at asok so most places are pretty easy to get to,

    Thanks again

  3. I am looking at going back to study (part time). I am working full time but am looking at either evening studies or distant education.

I want to study Business- sports management - or Business management.

Has anyone done/doing this now? I know that there are many farngs at Bangkok Uni.

    Any info would be great

    Thanks

  4. Thank you for your feedback, I have done some further checking and it does indeed seem legit.

The school is located on Washington square and is called Chacrit Muay Thai School, it's quite small but clean and well equipped, the teachers are pleasant fellow and they have a person who takes care of the visa processing.

I think I will give it a shot and let you know how it works out.

    All the best,

    bbp

That's where I train, best of luck

  5. The Muay School that I train at offers real 1yr Visa's, they are also offering Thai studies if you dont want to box.

The trainers and managers there are great people and I would go for it

You mean the Muay Thai school is also a Thai school? Interesting combination. What is the name of that school? do they have a website? Are they registered with the Ministry of Education as a Thai school? How many students do they have learning Thai? :o

This is a very interesting post. Also what do you mean by 'real' 1 year visa? You mean there are not real ones too? How can we tell the difference is the visa is a real one or not?

I like the idea of learning to box at a Muay Thai school but I really worry about learning Thai there. What method do they use? Any examples? What about Thai schools offering boxing lessons from now on - good idea?

    Walen School of Thai

The Muay Thai school offers a 1 yr ed visa for people interested in learning Muay Thai. I have personally meet the trainers/muay company and spoke to them about other schools offering ed visa and how other schools are only in it for the money (e.g they dont care if you come or not as long a syou pay the initial fee). I also mentioned that to gain credibiltity they must do it 100%. I know many other places that take your money and don't follow up.

They spoke to me about there homstay program for fighter wanting to also study Thai.

I rate the muay school as the location is excellent, trainers are great, open longer hrs and can accomodate people like me (working full time)

  6. What a shame Joe is retiring!

Don't believe that for a second. It's a common promotional tool "he's coming out of retirement to take this o so important bout".

I agree with you. Other than Hopkins and Jones, Calzaghe really hasn't had a lot of big paydays to show for his undefeated record. A fight with Chad Dawson would certainly put a lot in his pocket.

Dawson is also undefeated and is the current IBF light heavyweight champ (gained when he beat Tarver) and former WBC light heavyweight champ (lost when he gave up the title to fight Tarver). Hence, both are undefeated world champions. While Calzaghe may want to retire with his undefeated record, one or two last big paydays will keep him in the ring.

Maybe a rematch with Hopkins, the way they both fough this month that should make for a craker

Now we look forward to Oscar and Manny (am reading a good book on Manny as we speak)

  7. The Muay School that I train at offers real 1yr Visa's, they are also offering Thai studies if you dont want to box.

The trainers and managers there are great people and I would go for it

To add one more thing, I think the visa is cheap but you still need to pay for monthly training sessions which are run by very good trainers. so over the yr the price will add up but still cheap compared to "other visa schools" and back home

  8. I am curious as to what most peopel pay for Thai Lessons,

I was doing 2 lessons a week (private) in a coffee shop. it was 500 for each lessons. The Thai teacher was very very good and spoke perfect english. the lessons were pretty relaxed which was good.

I would happly pass his details on.

I have heard of people paying as little as 200bt a sessions,

    Any thoughts? Ideas?

  9. Fight's OVER,

    pretty much one way traffic,

Jones knocked Joe down in the first rd and won the second,

    Joe won the next 10rds

Wow that was not what I expected

    Well done Joe Calzaghe

That was the first time I'd seen Calzaghe. In much better condition than Jones, Jones seemed to run out of gas after the 5th.

Calzaghe just peppered the sh*t out of Jones rounds 4-12, very surprising for me, I thought Jones would be more active countering, but they were saying Calzaghe did the same to Hopkins, and the Executioner is no slouch.

Calzaghe's a good champ. His 46-0 stands out nicely.

I think jones was stunned by the hand speed and tricks, Joe was hitting from angles, mixing it up showing up a showman.

Plus the gash on the eye would not of helped

  10. Hi,

Would anybody happen to know where they will be showing the Calzaghe v Jones fight and also what time it starts please?

    Thanks for any info.

Looks like S.A supersports 7 is showing it
