What are the laptops you want to dispose of? Brand? Age? Model? Maybe someone can put them to use where they are just paperweights to you.

For example, I'll take a 10 year old, military spec thinkpad (x or t class) over a new consumer grade laptop from the major players.

Indeed I in fact am looking for the body (casing) for a Lenovo Ideapad S400.  The laptop works fine but the broken case interferes with the cooling fan.  One mans rubbish................

Many thanks for the tip ThaiFelix, and I did manage to find it; "Hearts of Darkness: A Film Makers Apocalypse" (eventually) and watched it, and it was both informative and intriguing and as I've always suspected, it was an allegory, not only about the Vietnam War, but also about America itself.

The candid confessions of the actors in the film were indeed eye-openers, and I was extremely surprised when Dennis Hopper (in this documentary) was just as "scatty/spaced out" in the real life scenes as he was in the movie!

It remains one of my most favourite movies and I don't know that I've ever seen one to match it.

For those who may want to watch it, I think I have found the link and it is as follows:

    https://harateness.monster/movies/play/0102015-hearts-of-darkness-a-filmmakers-apocalypse-1991?mid=17&sid=e31nqfg5mbeuka1rd8cb87o1h4&sec=359bcefd2d3a5a6a86f0e28b245b47fed685e597&t=1669449583

My apologies re the title, I was miles out, however I did say it had been a while.  I watched it again and thoroughly enjoyed it.  I may just watch Apocalypse Now again as I am bedded down with the covid right now.

"Allegory" , Ive just learnt a new word and yes, very fitting too.

Dennis Hopper...555555!  What more could you really say about the man.  Reminds me of years ago Salvadore Dali was asked in an interview had he even partaken in LSD, to which he replied "Taken LSD?  I am LSD!"

The film was total insanity like the war and the politics it was trying in reflect.

Same here with Apocalypse Now, Law Abiding Citizen, Tombstone, Pat Garrett & Billy the Kid, Castaway, The Enigma Machine, Young Guns, The Bourne Trilogy, Shooter, V for Vendetta, The Big Short, Live by Night..........to name but a few................!!

PS. Forgot to mention, Bottle Shock and Jeremiah Johnson!

If you are into Apocalypse Now you should keep an eye out for The Making of Apocalypse Now by Elenore? Ford Coppola (Francis' Wife).   It is amazing what they had to go through to make that movie which nearly killed Francis and sent Martin Sheen into a nervous breakdown.   The scene where Sheen is in the hotel room attacking the mirror is actual footage of his breakdown where they kept the cameras rolling.

I saw it many years ago and have never seen it since so it may be hard to procure.

Female nurses were told not to have skirts shorter than one inch above the knee.

And they mustn't be too tight either.

Slacks were advised but these mustn't show off the legs.

Hair must be a natural tone - no fancy dyes. And no clips.

Black, navy blue and dark grey clothing colors were important to create trust among patients and visitors, the edict continued.

Too much lipstick, mascara and false eyelashes were all banned.

"Right, now that we have all that out the way lets all go have a soapy....and the hospitals paying, we'll call it a committee meeting"!

Yes, all drugs known to men.

Right now it's criminals that make serious money with drugs. Since smuggling is expensive and the drugs go through I don't know how many hands before they get to the consumer and every hand that touches them wants to make a profit the price goes up and the quality goes down, which makes it economically unfeasible for an addict, which in turn means they sooner or later have to resort to criminal activities to feed the monkey, which then keeps the cops and the courts busy and the prisons filled. In countries like the USA you also have lots of drug related deaths due to turf wars. Then there's the fact that the tax money spent on the war on drugs is just money thrown out the window because it's impossible to rid a country of drugs.

So, the solution is for a nation to produce the drugs themselves, tax them and sell them so cheaply that everyone with a job can afford to be hooked and still get through life. Have the buyers fill in an anonymous form that states their gender, age, bought drug and the amount of drug they bought and couple that with an annual anonymous health check and after a year you have solid numbers of who bought what and which diseases spread amongst users instead of guesstimates.

Literally over night you would get rid of drug gangs, turf wars and most of the criminal activities that come with being an addict, plus criminal organizations like the taliban, Al Quada, ISIS etc. would lose a massive junk of their revenue.

The tax money that is spent on the war on drugs could be spent on other things like internal security or free health care, free education etc.

The tax income generated by the sale of drugs could then be used for large scale anti drug campaigns in every classroom in every school once a year. Take the <deleted> up speed freak without teeth and the dirty heroin junkie into classrooms and show kids what drugs can do to you. Make it as disgusting as possible!

Lastly, there will always be people wanting to do drugs and as long as there's big money to be made with them there will always be people willing to sell them. All prohibition does is create a black market that comes with crime.

Now you could say, that it's immoral for a government to make money off drugs, to that I say, what about alcohol, cigarettes and prescription drugs? Obviously the government has no quarrels with profiting off the sale of those. Then you could argue that a lot of people will get hooked, if it becomes freely available. To that again I say, what about alcohol and cigarettes? They're legal and not everyone is an alcoholic chain smoker.

Portugal is the perfect example of what would happen. They decriminalized all drugs for personal use back in 2011, if I remember correctly. The entire world was like, soon your country will be flooded with addicts, in reality the number of consumers actually went down and a lot of people free willingly went into rehab. So, overall it had a major positive effect.

The reality is, most people won't want anything to do with drugs and that's not gonna change, if they were to become legal and the ones who want to take drugs will find a way, legal or not.

You make a lot of sense.  And Portugal is a perfect example.  However I dont think that kind of good sense can be tolerated here.

The Thai Governments new motto "Once we thought we were indecisive now we are not so sure"

Just like the police pistol debacle let them keep the old pistols and issue new ones that the "GOV" bought and now they have a firearm crisis.

I can just hear that knock at the door Wednesday arvo...."err do you remember we let you out in June because the cannabis laws were changed, well its changed again so we need you to go pack your toothbrush and come along with us please, there's a good lad" lol!

Sorry to read you got out of bed this morning on the wrong side! I used my Yellow book to register (easily) and receive treatment (ongoing clinic +free Covid-19 vaccines x4) at my local hospital. I have never had a Non Imm B visa. I do have a Non Imm O which allows you to work if you chose (Group 3). Group 4 is for retirees not expats, you sir are wrong. Taken from your link.....

"The fourth group consists of tourists and retirees."

    https://coconuts.co/bangkok/news/dual-pricing-foreigners-legal-thai-public-hospitals/

No-one is disputing that it was easy for you to register for anything or get free/easy treatment because you have the YB/PK??

You stated: "When it was bill time I was not charged the full foreigner price but was charged on a lower pricing tier. "  That is what I am saying is wrong.  Where does it tier Foreigner with YB/PK as against Foreigner without YB/PK, the latter I imagine is the folk you claim are paying the "full foreigner price"?

And no, wrong again, I did get up on the right side this morning as I do most days.

    Have great day!

The Yellow book contains your Thai ID No. This is what makes it useful. An example of mine from experience was a stay in the local hospital. When it was bill time I was not charged the full foreigner price but was charged on a lower pricing tier. (I think there are 5 different pricing tiers.)

Wrong.  There are actually 4 tiers.  None of them mention anything about a yellow book or pink card.  They are: 1.  a Thai person, 2.  A farang from neighbouring country, 3.  A farang working on a Non Im B, and 4. a farang tourist or expat.
