a woody, they drink all of our liquor, smoke are cigs, eat anthing they can find in our house, what the F..k can we do?

Could be worse. Could be Thais

  2. she has a relentless thirst for money and will not back off until she's licked every bit of flesh clean off the bone. now she's pregnant and I feel she has got me well and truly over the barrel. help! can someone throw me a lifebuoy?

Tell her you are going to the Philippines. Thai girls hate it when their BF goes to The Philippines. They are very jealous of their pinay cousins, and with good reason.

    After your announcement ....... go.

  3. This is not the same subject really!!

When I see a farang guy with a Thai girl/woman, the girl is usually very attractive, the guy not necessarily.

I just wonder why this is. Do farang men base their choice of partner on looks alone, and maybe something else later, like character?

In this forum, Thai girls have been lambasted (good eh?) for being money oriented and shallow. Well, maybe the farang men deserve them, for being skin-deep beauty oriented, also shallow.

what do you make of this?

If you are going to buy something it may as well look good. If she were buying the Farang she could choose someone better looking.

  4. My mate lived there for seven years and i've asked him what it is like over there.

Most of what he said was the same as the earlier posters - horrible food, wide-scale corruption, great beaches, guns commomplace etc.

He also said that when you marry a Fillipina, she wants to move to your country, then when she gets there, she wants to bring her mum, dad, brothers, sisters, aunts, neighbours, friends etc over to settle too.  :o

    Good reason not to marry.

Good combo. TV was this planned?

  6. Jai yen-yen SiamOne. Khun Larry probably said that because of personal experience.

sure, and I get told off because of a harmless joke!!

I have experience of Thai women too, you know!! :D:D

very true... and for most of that input, it's refreshingly welcome... :D

    but a few things...

Everyone is familiar with Khun Larry's tremendous inner serenity and his wonderfully peaceful coexistence in Thailand. His complete and total harmony with everyone and everything around here is well documented and known by most. :o

That's why he's essentially ignored by everyone. He's the bitter, old, grumpy uncle that no one in the thaivisa really wants to acknowledge is in the family. We're content to just let him mumble to himself in the corner of the basement.

You certainly don't want to compare yourself with him... :D

You apologized... that was wonderfully mature and respectful and you restore your credibility by doing so. :D

We can all move on now ... wiser and more appreciative of one another...

.....pssst...one last thing... just to be sure you know, the purple words above are sarcasm... I didn't really mean those things... :D

    Have a nice day... :D

    SJ

Take that chip off your shoulder. Seems like my lifetime observations trump yours as evidenced by our lifestyles. You have no choice but to live in T Land, don't gripe to me about your sad situation.

  7. Hep A 1200 baht BKK Red Cross.

Avaxim Vaccine from Aventis Pasteur, France. Dee maak

Larry, is this a one shot innoculation?

When I was innoculated for hep in the states, I had to return after one month for a second injection. cost 200 USD. Because of the obvious savings I would be interested in being innoculated in LOS next time, if it is a one shot vaccine.

Typhoid was 60 USD at the county health dept.

    Thanks Ray

First shot good for 1 year

Return in 6 months for booster then you are good for 10 years. 1200 baht each, same same.

I was surprised to learn these are not lifetime vaccinations. If you havent been vaccinated in 10 years then it is time.

  8. I much prefer Thailand.

I lived in the PI for four years back in the eighties, Angeles City, and not on base, either. I had no problems with the locals in general, but I did have one incident.

It was Christmas. The locals were celebrating as they always do for every holiday, with fireworks. I lived right next to a trike stand (like a tuk-tuk stand) and the trike drivers were throwing triangles (quarter-sticks of dynamite into my yard. Nor only were my dogs hightly upset, but I was too. I happened to be quite ill at the time with a massive sinus infection. I asked them to please not throw them into my yard anymore.

    Three times.

Then I made and heaved a Molotov cocktail at them. I hit one trike, with the driver still sitting in it, flames went everywhere, and definitely upset all the drivers. They ran to the police. I sat around and waited for the police to show up. The police came and talked to me. The police left. The drivers all treated me with much more respect thereafter.

If you tried that in Thailand you would be dead now. No question about it.

  9. TH:

Thailand much better food, Puying sleazier, more scams. BKK safer than Manila. More expate in LOS as PI does not need as many english teachers.

    PI:

Pinoy better Asses, tits and cuter, less kiniving, are faithful, want to marry. PI cheaper. People much nicer. Cleaner beaches.

A toss up between two shitholes. Pick your poison.

  10. There are so many villas being built on Samui these days.  So many little developments.  Are they all going to be sold?  Is the place being overbuilt?  Is the demand really as high as it would seem?

    Opinions please...

    I love Koh Samui.

We rent them when and if we need them.

Also, stick all the villas into your arse, they are safe in there.

    LOL :o

    Good closing line

  11. I have just been offered a professional job (Corporate role) in BKK. the firm is paying me a local salary not an expat package!  they havnt given me any numbers yet.

I had a few queries before i decide to accept the job:

What is the business language in thailand? - i dont speak thai.

what would be the salary range (in baht) for a manager in large multi national  financial services firm? - any website that can help?

Cost of living: how much per month in baht needed to have a lifestyle similar to AUD$5000 per month in sydney? converting directly doesnt make sense, as thai baht is weaker and BKK is cheaper than sydney.

    cheers!

Unless you are a sex tourist AUD$5000 definitely is not worth living in BKK. Must be a piss poor salary in AU duai

  12. My advice is to find a Thai who can speak English and befriend them

I would advise you to do the opposit: Find a Thai who cannot speak English and befriend them or live together. Worked for me.

If they speak English you will likely not learn Thai, however their English will improve.

FYI, after considerable effort and a fair amount success I find knowing Thai to be of very little value. Definitely not worth the effort.

    Up to You.

  13. I have met alot of people playung the market, or trying to. A couple of day traders and many many covered call sellers playing the market (US Market). Some doing well.

Most shooting for 1k - 2k USD per month. Great work when the market is going up.

  14. In Banglumpoo selected big eggs Bhat 42 for 12. I dont know chicken in market, less higenic and dont know when have cut ?  :D , I buy HoyMeat (CP Group's form product). It is packed, packed date, Expairy printed  and safe from Birdflu. In an average the price do not cross Bhat 80/KG.  :o

NY Today 12 large eggs USD1.59 = 60 baht. On sale can find for $0.99 = 40 baht

    F LOS ... too expensive.

    Gas today $3.20 / gal

    HoyMeat ... not sure but probably about $150 - $200 / 1 - 2 hours (Short time)

  15. Tourists shun Phuket, international arrivals down 67 percent

PHUKET: --  Some eight months after the tsunami destroyed coastal resort areas and killed more than a quarter of a million people, tourists are continuing to shun Phuket, Phi Phi Island and Khao Lak.

According to the Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA), international tourist arrivals are down a staggering 67 percent in Phuket.

Conversely, tourists are flocking back to other tsunami-hit areas including the Maldives and Sri Lanka, where credit card spending is up 10 percent over last year according to VISA Card International.

Tourist arrivals are also up in the Philippines and Vietnam, Asia's hot new tourism destination that some describe as similar to Thailand 30 years ago before overdevelopment degraded Phuket's beaches and coral reefs.

While some blame Thai tourism officials for not spending more on marketing the former "tourism capital of Asia", money alone may not be enough to revitalize Phuket's tourist industry, which was damaged by the tsunami and then crippled by mostly European resort and dive shop owners who lashed out at the press and blasted tourists for canceling holidays to Thailand.

"In the aftermath of the tsunami, the press did its job by accurately reporting the facts in a dozen tsunami-hit nations about the worst natural disaster in our lifetime," said CDNN Editor-in-Chief Stanford Suzuki.

"At the same time, the tsunami exposed the callous greed of Phuket's mostly non-Thai developers, hotel operators and dive shop owners who threatened reporters for telling the truth and harassed tourists, even as rescuers were searching for their loved ones," Suzuki added. "I'm afraid that's a "paradise forever lost " problem that advertising can never fix."

    --CYBER DIVER NEWS NETWORK 2005-09-05

I agree with much of this article however not enough of the "real Thailand" is brought out. IMO the Thai developers, locals and touts are much more the issue and problem with Phuket. Simply no class there and it seems the word has finally gotten out. Only thing better than 67% down is 97%.
