I should have said British. The Scotts and Welsh are british even if they don't like it.
My family is made up of the main 4. I am glad to include the Scotts etc.

I think that plastic bags are a sign of sophistication and wealth. I visit the same branch of TOPS every day and have managed to train most of the staff to put 2 items into a bag. I also show them that a straw is pointless to 99% of people that buy a 1.5 litre bottle.
I take time to point out the thumprint and the 'save the world' slogan on the bag and they look surprised.
Tell them 'NO'. They are idiots that have NO understanding of the world. let's face it Thai TV is full of childish penny whistle rubbish that will NEVER tell them that. Tell them that 12 bags for 9 items is crazy.
Take paper or cloth

IN THE LIGHT OF THE RECENT TROUBLES, CAN WE STILL ENTER BURMA/MYANMAR FROM THE CHANG RAI BOARDER?
I WAS GOING TO BOOK A FLIGHT AND VISIT THE DVD MARKET FOR AN HOUR. I JUST NEED TO KNOW IF IT IS STILL POSSIBLE TO ENTER. IF IT IS POSSIBLE, HOW MUCH IS IT NOW?
THANKS
PERSON FULL OF CONTEMPT FOR GOD.

Being in England and surrounded by the the English is like winning the lotto.
I love my country and my people. However, the dregs of humanity that wash up is a huge problem and a main cause of many of the problems (before you attack me I am dealing with facts) we have.
When I took my wife to middle England she was thrilled to interact with regular people and live in a way that is an impossible dream to most Thais.

Austhaied, please take a look around. Take a train once in a while and marvel at the plastic coated track side bushes.
Thais are staggeringly ignorant towards the enviroment. I have argued with a local car service shop when I watched him pour brake fluid down a drain for the umteenth time. He thought I was crazy that the fluid he was waving goodbye to was possiblely a danger to him and all of us.
And before you boast about Chang Mai, remember that it has worse air quality than BKK at various times of the year.

This is an excellent post! Many people think that because they are not in their own country that their carbon footprint is in someway less important. Tut! Tut!
I seperate me glass(beer bottles) in one bag and paper into another. I scrape my kitchen goods into another. It's not perfect, but it's OK.
I also re-fill my water bottles. Think about the 10000000000000s of bottles that are dumped every day.

I hear that next week their will be a protest against the horrors that are foisted upon us on a daily basis in the name a certain god.
Wait! Wait! What am I saying? That's just silly.
On a more serious note. The followers of a certain personality cult claim that it is wrong to depict their prophet. This is 100% nonsense as there are many many portraits of him done by the adherants of that cult.

Good! Serves him right!

After being paid a bonus I took some money from an ATM and tapped it over my missus like the market vendors do for a joke.
She found this very funny and strange and spent time telling people about it like it had some meaning or it may have some implications for the future.
I have told her a million times it was an off the cuff joke.
Superstious people are nuts.

This thread may have been done, but with any food outlet the staff can change and the place can go downhill very quickly. That's why I did a new one. Plus, I am seeking reviews from Brits as they will know what a curry in the UK is like.
I'll give Bollywood a go as the Rang mahal may be a tad expensive.
Thanks chaps

More of a hearing problem this one. I asked for battered shrimps in a restaurant and when they came I was a bit surprised.
Beofre me was a bowl of melted BUTTER. She said "here your battered shrimps".
I said thanks.

OP! I am far from PC. I just thought your attempt to dress up a post that could have started, "I think Thais are.......", would have saved the Orwellian double-speak.
I personally think no group has the right not to be offended. Just look at some of the lower orders in Bangkok.
-
Where is that?

I was recently back home in the UK and discovered just how much I miss a good Indian Ruby Murry on a weekend.
I have tried 3 or 4 in bangkok and found nothing worth eating. The best of the bad bunch was Mrs Bilbars.
So if any Brits can reccomend a curry house, I'll let you crack your finger through the middle of the popadoms.

It's hard to stumble across things to stimulate your mind here. I have to seek them out.

I couldn't help but post here as I like food and fruit and I don't mean on a plate
As for how to raise the issue of a afantasy, I think it can be treated like crack cocaine. No! No! hear me out.
You start with a little and it's all new and exciting. Then as time goes by you can add to the original act until you are able to enjoy your fantasy, or at least as much of it as your partner is willing to enjoy.
As for playing away to enjoy something that can't be done 'at home', then I would/have/think it's fine.

George, that's a bonkers message. Who mentioned plants?
If insects become a hazard to ones health, what is wrong with killing them?
Mozzies can pass dengue fever on to me. Electronic tennis racket for them.
Cockroaches are filthy. Sole of a shoe sorts them out.
Rats can pass on a number of natsty stuff. Cage and a bucket of water for them.
Soi dogs are basically vermin with character. If I could get away with it.................

I waited an hour an 5 mins to clear passport control and this is not peak season. I then found my bag amongst a pile of others dumped on the floor before running the gauntlet of taxi touts.
This airport is poor.

No!
It can just be tricky to get them to ignore certain elements of living here.

"What if it is a negative trait that is being discussed, such as lying, or being rude, or being immature, or thoughtless, or not valuing education, etc."
By this you are clearly referring to Thais, as these comments come up often. Whilst I may agree to some extent, I think your well written post, and the'double speak' (value-neutral) it contains is just a well written 'pop' at the natives.
-
A public lending scheme is unlikely here as Thais, as a rule, rarely read. Those that do read in English proberbly have enough money to buy new books.
There are many second hand book shops here with good selections.
As for entertainment, try Guru and the other 'whats on' guides. They are in English and pretty good too.

I was in the Uk recently where a similar ban is in FORCE. It's great.
Being in a bar or having a meal without people smoking is very pleasent.
Smokers will proberbly be thankful in the long run too. From my observations people smoke less if it means standing outside.

Somebody here catches mozzies in a plastic bag and sets them free.
If it is an insect in my apartment without an invite it gets killed.
How do you feel about bacteria?

Pay thousands of pounds to a human traffiker then claim asylum as a poor war victim in the U.K. It must work as we have the dregs of the planet doing just that in the UK.

Keep politics and sport apart, please.
Sport is the one time we can break down the walls that politics throws up.
