I brought my beloved old N64 back with me from the uk, I have all the cables apart from the video cable. So I went to Fortune IT mall and bought a rf tv cable, but it wouldnt fit into the back of the console (too loose).

2 weeks ago I flew back to the uk, before I left I withdrew about 20k in baht from my Thai account. I was under the impression that I would get a better rate changing from baht to gbp in the uk as the offshore rate (like on xe.com) is usually less baht than onshore, just like it is with US dollars. Anyway I at the airport in the uk the rate was 68 baht to the pund!! So I reckon I lost out on about 50 gbp!! Why was it like this??

Now I am coming back to the uk in a few days time, should I change my gbp to baht here or at Bangkok?

Excellent post. I've been looking at prices here recently after I started to feel that I often seem to spend quite a lot on just day to day items such as food. Things like a carton of pineapple juice for 75 baht doesn't make sense when they grow here!!

Im going back to the UK for a few weeks on Wednesday and I need to use my laptop that I bought here over there so I am going to need an adaptor so that the power unit will plug into a UK socket but I was in the Mall Ramkamhaeng department store today and didn't see any. Where can I buy one in Bangkok? Are they easy to get in the uk?

Its a wicked game, I cant play online but dont really care right now as the single player is gonna last me at least 30+ hours at this rate.

As for lag on Xbox live, I found that it depended on the games, some games such as COD3+4 and Halo 3 were usually ok for me even playing people in UK/USA but then other games would be terrible. Probably best to stay off gta multiplayer for a week or so as the new games are always packed after launch.

I got a modded copy at Fortune IT mall on Friday...its a wicked game, loads to do....graphics could be a bit better and I'd like to be able to enter more buildings but apart from that its awesome. No online for me cos Ive been banned since last November but from what Ive read in the official Xbox forums the online part is a complete mess at the moment and crashing all the time, but this is to be expected and anyways the single player mode will last you ages...Ive hardly done any of the main missions as Ive been doing loads of side missions.

Does anyone else get problems with Hotmail? I do and it seems to be on and off, it started about 4 months ago when for some reason I could not access Hotmail from home (with both IE and FF) it would always show a loading screen for ages after I signed in.... but I could always sign in fine at internet cafes...Hotmail was the only site I had problems with. This went on for about 2 months then it worked ok again, then off for a week or so...off, on, off etc.

Why is it doing this? I've tried clearing my cache, history etc but that does nothing. I know everyone is going to say 'forget about Hotmail its cr*p' and I agree, 90% of the time I use Gmail but I still have many friends and family that contact me through hotmail and this is starting to really annoy me now.

Any advice/tips would be much appreciated.

From what I've seen the second hand market is a bit of a joke here, I tried Ebay a while back and found it full of scams and dodgy products (a lot of 'digital downloads') even if you do find something second hand the price is usually not much lower than the retail price.

Well the shop where I buy my games in the mall Ramkamhaeng said they can fix it for 2500 baht and it will take 3 days. Quite pricey but they also said that its guaranteed for several months after (cant remember if they said 3 or 6 months) so if it breaks after I can go straight back there, thats the best part of the deal for me.

So my Xbox that Ive had since Jan 06 with no probs just got the 3 red lights.

I was playing on it with my friends when the screen went black, it did this a few more times after rebooting so I left it. Same again this morning, when I did the 3rd reboot I got the red lights.

One of my friends has been using his harddrive on my console, we started doing this about 5 days ago and its something Ive never done before. Does anyone think this could be a connection? I cant see how the console got hot because I usually have the air on full blast when Im playing.

Anyway, time for a repair. Ive heard there's a guy somewhere down Sapahn lek or something and he does them in like 20 mins, please post the details/directions if you have them. Would also like to hear other options/places.

I may even just go and buy a new console, so if there's anyone out there who knows how to fix these and wants to buy my console off me cheap then let us know.
