  1. OP,

Maybe the you could find someone competent to modify your 4 valve DOHC Suzuki Raider to give you an increase in power that would make your rides far more interesting. You could keep the small and compact chassis that you are already familiar with.

The bigger bikes that are being discussed in this thread are not going to make you happy when you get to the tight stuff and you have to roll your bike back and forth.

As papa al already mentioned in post #12:

    "Stick with Raider.

    Unsurpassed in traffic."

I have made 2 successful cash on delivery purchases from Lazada but the last 2 attempts to buy something failed. The 1st of these deliveries was cancelled because they said they were unable to contact me even though they had my phone #. The only response I could get from their customer services as to why was just a repetition of 'unable to contact you'. The only reason might have been, which u might like to note, is a Lazada flaw when u enter your phone # online. They ask for or show the country code '0066' before u enter your phone #, so I omitted the '0' from my mobile #, which is standard practice. But not on Lazada! My phone # on the delivery details was shown without the '0'  so I suspect that the delivery company 'Kerry' or driver didnt  have the sense to realise this so were dialing a wrong # when they tried to notify me of delivery. OK....So I re-ordered correcting the phone #. The courier arrived and as the package was the wrong size and felt wrong I opened it before signing and sure enough it was not what I ordered. So, of course, I refused to accept the delivery or sign which is normal practise in the UK. The driver became very agitated and argumentative, almost angry, and my missus spent about 10 mins translating and arguing with him explaining to me that I should not have opened it....duhhhh! and that I should accept it and report it to Lazada and I should send it back if wrong. The courier was upset because he said he would now have to pay for the item! I sympathised with him but said why should the customer have to go to all the time and trouble of contacting Lazada again and rewrapping and sending it back, which I doubt Lazada would pay for, when it was the sellers mistake, maybe deliberate, and Lazada's responsibility to sort it out with the seller and cover the cost. Of course it is wrong that the poor delivery rider should have to cover the cost but his company should sort that out with Lazada, not me.

Lazada returns are incredibly easy to do.

Go online and find your order and click on "return items". After that you will print out a label which you will carry to the post office with the package. You are not asked to pay for shipping and the shipping is not deducted from your refund, which only takes a few days.

I would never bother my delivery guy about my Lazada problems unless he tried to give me a package which was obviously damaged before I received it.

  3. OP, have you provided the dealership with proof of your residence?

Most likely, it would be in the form of a letter from Thai immigration or a yellow book. Or a work permit.

If they have not asked for, and you have not provided them with your proof of residence, then that's a good clue that your name will not be in the blue book, and that you should start doing some serious checking on what they are hoping to accomplish without YOUR proof of address.

  4.  Vespa is still selling brand-new 2-stroke engine PX125 scooters.

The PX125 comes with a 4-speed manual transmission, has air-cooling, and is not fuel-injected.

It does have a front disk brake but no ABS. It comes in white, red, or black for 209,000 ฿aht.

They also offer a limited edition touring model for 224,900 ฿aht.

It is hard to believe that these are still being sold in 2018. But I saw one recently at the Vespa showroom in Udon Thani across from UD Town.

I myself do not intend to buy one, but I was pleasantly surprised to see that we still have the choice.

Whatever phone model you're looking at, make sure the 'radios' are spec'd to work with whatever 'networks' you want to use it with. You'll need matching modem/codex (2G or 3G or 4G) and the frequency Band

Most Thai mobile providers mostly use some combination of 850, 900, 1800, 2100 for 3G and 4G operations.

    ...from the Giffgaff community forum:

Giffgaff runs on the O2 network to provide a virtual mobile network service. O2 (and therefore Giffgaff) use the following 2G, 3G and 4G frequencies/bands.

2G (Good for Calls, SMS and Emails) - 900MHz (Band 8) and 1800MHz (Band 3)

3G (Good for Calls, SMS and Mobile Data) – 900MHz (Band 8) and 2100MHz* (Band 1*)

    4G (Good for Mobile Data) – 800MHz (Band 20)

    * PLEASE NOTE: 3G frequency 2100MHz (Band 1) is not available in all areas.

As listed above, if you want Giffgaff 4G Mobile Data you'll need to pick a phone that specifically handles 4G 800MHz (Band 20), or be satisfied with 3G on 900MHz (Band 8) and/or 2100MHz (Band 1) [*where service available]

Except it's likely the current shower is wired with 2.5mm2 on a 20 amp breaker and 7Kw would need 6mm2 on a 32 amp breaker.  He could go to 4500 watt on 2.5mm2 but probably still not get a HOT shower.

I just checked and the wiring is 2.5mm2 on 32 amp breaker.

Probably not big enough for the 6kw unit I had planned to order.

I will need someone to run a bigger wire. Lucky it's a very short run. Maybe 4 meters.

I'll stick my head up in the attic and maybe do it myself, depending on how it looks up there.

Would 4mm2 be big enough for 6kw? I have a big coil of that here already.

  7. The pump is a Hitachi WM-P150XS and I believe it has a very small air tank. And yes, it is very noisy.

The water pressure that it supplies is far more than we need. That's why I originally asked if it were possible to turn it down.

This is the first time I have had a pump on a house in Thailand and I don't much like it. But the city water pressure here is very low most of the time.

I once had a house in Florida with a well pump/tank setup but the air tank was about 5 feet tall.

I don't remember any problems with that setup, other than having to drain some water from the tank occasionally.

This is a rental house, so I am looking to fix this problem without spending a lot of money.

A bigger water heater is not so much money, and I can take it with me if I move to another place.

As I said in post #10, I have a couple of "extra" ones that I did not use.  Send me your address via PM and I will send you one via EMS, I'll even pay the shipping.  They are easy to install by just disconnecting the input hose to the heater and screw it to the heater and then the hose to the other end.  You would turn the pressure down until you get the desired temperature.  But, as said, a 3.5kw heater is stretching it in Issan and you might have to turn the flow way down to get what you want.

Yes, I am now sure the heater is too small. I will update to a larger heater so that I will be able to actually have a hot shower.

Thanks to wayned for the offer to send me the valve, but I think that it will not do enough to get some hot water until I upgrade the heater.

And thanks to everyone else for your advice and thoughts!

  9. I rented a new house with a Hitachi WM-P150XS water pump installed alongside of a 700 litre water tank. The water pressure is way too much for the Sharp 3500 watt water heater to even begin to give hot water. The water heater is turned on to full hot and the water comes out only barely warm. No way to get hot water with the pump running.

Is there any way to adjust for lower water pressure so that I may enjoy a hot shower on these cool mornings?

Or do I need to buy a larger water heater that may be able to heat the water that is blasting through the shower?

Turning down the water pressure at the shower just causes the pump to cycle on and off every 10 seconds or so.
