  1. My Kawa ZX130 had a ring welded to the main stand and one to the frame. Put the bike on the stand, a padlock through the rings, that's it. I guess a thief would prefer a bike which he doesn't have to carry away. Almost any bike shop should be able to do that welding as a after-market solution for a few Baht.

Many small bikes come with this mainstand pad locking setup already installed. First time I noticed it was over 20 years ago and my new Honda Wave has it also. But it is a hidden feature you have to get down on your knees and look for. I don't believe that most people are even aware of it's existence. Expect to find it on a Honda Wave or Dream under the left side. I am unsure what other manufacturers may have included them on their bikes.

The purpose of it is to lock your mainstand in the DOWN position. No way to push the bike anywhere. Has to be carried.

  2. Nouvo SX sounds like a really nice bike, however, it seems that it was discontinued in the Thai market after the 2014 model year.

But as Papa Al mentioned in a previous thread, there are probably a few unsold Nouvos still available out there somewhere.

Since this is a thread about the Honda Click and the Yamaha GT125, I decided to post in this thread about my Yamaha GT125.

For the 43K baht that I paid for it, I think it is a hell of a bargain and far from being crap.

  3. Just on the basis of the big difference in handling between my GT125 and my two small Hondas, I am glad I went with the Yamaha this time. It tracks like it's on rails in all circumstances.

My two Hondas ( I bought both brand new ) aren't even in the same league as far as stability. Straight-line or in corners.

  4. So I called them and they said no problem to buy there. Took a taxi to Seacon Square and then walked from there. Not too far and the weather was not too hot today. Sign in at the front gate then go upstairs. I bought 10 boxes of 50 tablets, 400mg each for 500฿ per box. So 5000฿ for 500 tablets, tax included. A far better deal than buying Salofalk.

I will be calling in my orders from here on out and they will send them to me, wherever I happen to be in Thailand. Thanks for all the help!

  5. Vespas were underpowered compared with the BSA 250 CC Scooter!

I had an Aprilia SportCity 250i in Florida.

Same exact engine and drivetrain as the Vespa GTS250 (both are made by Piaggio) and there is no way I would ever call it underpowered. 80+mph.

Fuel-injected DOHC water-cooled and three disc brakes with 15 inch wheels.

Now the Aprilia and the Vespa are both called 300, but are actually 278cc. I really wish Aprilias were sold in Thailand. Awesome bikes in every way.

  6. Allen, be advised there was a recent discussion on TV forum concerning the Yamaha NMax and how the 13 inch wheels were small enough to put one at a disadvantage.

The Vespa you are looking at has 11 inch front and 10 inch rear wheels.

The TV wheel-size advisory dudes may decide for you that the Vespa would not be acceptable due to the small wheel size.

I myself think a Vespa is a very nice machine. wai2.gif

  7. Pimsleur has a great CD based course. The beauty of the Pimsleur course is that you don't need to sit in front of a computer and you don't need to walk around with any books. You can convert it all to MP3 and take it with you in your telephone or MP3 player. So that you will have it with you everywhere you go. It is very effective for learning to listen to and speak Thai. I have tried many different ways of learning Thai and IMO the Pimsleur method is very effective and works best for me.

Learning to speak Thai by looking at pages of Thai words spelled with an English alphabet and accent marks is not nearly as effective as listening to Thai speakers repeat the sentences.

After all, when we learned to speak our native languages, we didn't learn it by looking at a book. We learned it by listening to native speakers speaking.

  8. Well, what you are saying is like don't buy a Hilux but a Tata. Why would anyone do that?

I believe Benelli may, perhaps, become as famous as Keeway. A bike that looks good, is cheap, and everybody who bought one complains about, and which is actually the same sh*t.

I bought a Keeway TXM200 over two years ago, so I pay attention to the threads about Keeway bikes. I don't remember seeing any real complaints about them and I have no complaints about mine. You should actually go to look at one up close and you will see they are not made cheaply. Some of us actually own the bikes that you hate. I have seen the Benelli bikes up close and the finish on them is as good, if not better, than any Japanese bike made in Thailand. Based on my Keeway experience, I would not be afraid to buy a Benelli over a Thai-built Honda.
