  1. I've had my TXM for 2 years now, but it only has about 4900 km on it. Still runs perfect and looks new. No rust anywhere. I broke it in hard and ride it hard. I live right on a very busy and fast two-lane highway. I have adjusted the valves. Very easy to do on this bike. Now running semi-synthetic oil in it. Handling is good and the ride is rock-solid at 100kph. Factory-installed: oil cooler, LED tail light, upside-down forks, mono shock rear suspension, front and rear disk- brakes and rear rack.

  2. Danny, thanks for the information about the hotels in Seka! I will look for that restaraunt in the picture next time I am there so I can find the hotel across from it.

I am living here full-time now in a village near the mountain and a little closer to Ban Phaeng than Seka so I don't usually go to Seka very often even though its only about 15-20 minutes away from me.

OP, many nice expats around here, as Danny mentioned already. Start at Pip's across from the 7-11 and you will soon meet some very nice people that stay in our area. Steve's place and Peter's Pit Stop are good places to go, once you learn how to find them. The Pit Stop is almost directly across the lake from Steve's place and is usually only open on Sundays, but Peter has mentioned that he can open other days if you call and let him know your plans. The Pit Stop also has 2 very nice waterfront bungalows that are usually available.

  3. Get the O-A visa from the Royal Thai Embassy in D.C. and you will be able to stay nearly two years and not have to show any money in a Thai bank during that time. The money in your US account will meet the money qualification for the O-A "long-stay" visa, also called a retirement visa by some people.

You will need to provide a doctors report and a police report but both were very easy to get, in my case. I know some have stated that they had problems going that route.

  4. As I posted before, I have never seen a hotel in Seka and I have been going there since 20 years ago.

    They must keep them well-hidden.

Hello Danny. I am Richard. Maybe see you around here sometime? Maybe at Steve's or Sunny's.

  5. Steve's enchiladas are awesome and the pizzas at Pip's are very tasty!

Steve's place is called Rung Phet Gardens and is located on the waterfront of Bung Khong Long lake.

There is a decent map of how to get to Rung Phet Gardens located here. It can be a little tricky to find. The telephone number shown on that page is accurate. They also serve fish and chips, pizzas, quesidillas, and spaghetti along with the delicious enchiladas already mentioned. Open seven days a week lately. About a 15 minute drive from downtown Seka.

  6. I have not seen any actual hotels in Seka. Lots of "resorts" all over though.

There is a proper hotel in Ban Phaeng on Hwy 212 (about 30 minutes from Seka) called "JB".

In Bueng Kan there is a hotel called "The One", also on Hwy 212. Bueng Kan is about an hour from Seka.

There is a restaraunt in Seka that has a lot of decent western food. It is directly across from the 7-11 in downtown Seka. The local falangs call the restaraunt "Pip's".

  7. Would there be a significant different in performance between the 2.2 and 3.2 (given that the 4wd on the 3.2, and the engine itself will increase the weight)?

I think the extra cylinder plus and extra thousand cc will give a noticeable increase in performance, even with the extra weight.

  8. The OP guy is pretty funny but I have to say the pizza place on the side road on your way out of the Big C parking lot is something that I really enjoyed. Great pizza and the guy gave us a free loaf of French bread as we left. I will definitely go back next time I am in Buri Ram. It's very difficult to find good pizza in NE Thailand.
