  1. I have an O-A visa that I got back in February 2013 and I am still here on that same visa. You can get nearly two years out of it if you time it right. I have never yet applied for an extension of stay. I will have to apply for my extension in January 2015 when my visa finally runs out. My O-A visa was issued by the Thai embassy in Washington DC. It only took one week by express mail to DC and back to Florida including processing time. I did have to leave Thailand one time and come back in to renew the same visa for one more year. Otherwise, I have only had to do my 90 day reports.

I am glad they have updated the information page linked to in the above post by JDGRUEN. It was slightly confusing before. Much clearer now.

  2. No all of that just because I research and prepare myself and don't have to come on an internet site to ask people if it's a scam or not? Don't want to sit on the side of the road or go to a police station and educate a stupid cop about the Geneva convention, my time is worth more then that.

    Fine, your choice.

But saying an IDP is required is simply not true.

I don't know who is right or wrong, but I do know that when I went to get my first Thai DL a few days ago in Beung Kan, they specifically asked me for my IDP. I happened to have left it out in my truck so he waited while I went out to get it. They had already seen that I have an unexpired Florida DL but also asked to see my IDP. I did not ask them what would have happened if I didn't have one.

With IDP no written or practical test required, without IDP testing is required.

BTW, getting a Thai license on the bases of home license, with or without IDP, has no bearing on the lagality of driving with or without IDP.

Many discussions here already on the IDP, in the end it is clear IDP is not required, but some people always feel the need to sprout their incorrect knowledge.

Plenty of roadblocks in this part of Thailand. The police usually ask me for a DL, but have NEVER asked to see an IDP. I used to hand the IDP to them with my Florida DL, but they have never even looked at the IDP whenever I did. They only looked at the Florida DL.

  4. I was looking for a topbox for my Keeway TXM200 and happened to see a Yamaha brochure that showed a topbox accessory for the Filano scooter. So I went to the shop that sells the Yamaha Filano and asked about the topbox. They had them in stock and they installed it for me. It bolted to the rack on the Keeway very nicely. It turned out to be a Shad topbox and it is very nice. I think it is 28 liters. I forget the price but I am very happy with it. If looking for a topbox, you may want to check it out.

  5. In my experience, the bike price has always included everything. Even the first years insurance and at least one junk helmet. Last time they gave me two junk helmets.

But I have never bought a bike over 150cc in Thailand.

  6. Hello Jaideeguy. I have used Dell laptops for years and never had a problem. My current Dell laptop is the XPS14Z w/8gb RAM. Very nice.

Windows 7 is fantastic, however, all the new computers only seem to offer Windows 8 now. I haven't heard of anyone being thrilled about Windows 8.

Maybe you could downgrade to 7 after you find the computer you like. I may be able to help you do that part if you end up with a Dell. I'm no guru, but I do know my way around Dells.

I hope to be visiting your area soon:)
