Why don't they ever comment on what type of helmet to wear? ie. One that actually affords some decent protection.

It is a good idea for farang wanting to marry to have a background check, but it should also happen in reverse ?

Nice of them to state the stopping distance but as a large number of vehicles here in Thailand have defective tyres that stopping distance will be way out, especially in wet weather ! I never see anything anywhere here to show what can happen with defective tyres. Theres a thing 555555

We have to remember, perhaps already posted here, that there are many many Thai girls who have moved to farang land with their farang husband and are very happy. I blame the guy in this case for not saying how it really is before they went. Unless she didn't believe him of course and listened to all her village friends and relatives with their fairy stories instead.....I know which scenario is the more likely.

From what I have seen in the years I have been here is many, many vehicles of all types have tyres that leave a lot to be desired. Will the police have checked the tyres on this pick up? Do they ever check tyres ? Is there a law about the legal amount of tread on tyres?

' initial assessment indicated that a tourist who had turned up the heat control was to blame for the fire. ' What is a control for then ? Show?
Reminds me of the time when the air con failed in my place, the landlord blamed me for using it too much ! I thought he was joking but he wasn't. Crazy.

@Get Real The same can be said in many countries in the world. Not just here in Thailand !

I will never marry here in Thailand. I have lived with my girlfriend here for over 2 years - very happy. Marriage would ruin it I am sure. She knows I will not marry, or buy her a house - she seems happy enough. But it took me over 10 years to find her !

It appears to me that he was not saying anything derogatory about the people of certain African countries , only about the state of the countries they live in. As usual Trump speaks publicly about things that millions and millions of people agree with but only speak about in private. Including many people who are actually living in or lived in those countries he speaks of.
If he rattles the cages of the leaders of these s*h*le nations so be it.

I see two drunken idiots falling around trying to fight, the headline makes it sound like there was a riot
Personally I would label this as one of the much talked about "false news" stories we are exposed to more and more
Is there nothing more important to report than this garbage "non news"
seriously
Agreed. Exaggeration in articles is everywhere, whether it is a forum or many international news sites. The crazy thing is that many people don't look past the headlines and jump to false conclusions as a result. Some of the exaggerations are to increase traffic to monetised websites, other exaggerations and false stories have a more sinister agenda...

Jeez, only yesterday I was driving along route AH3 from Chiang Rai. A minivan had pulled up at the side of the road and at least 8 Thai men were on the verge all peeing in full view of everyone. Don't see that on Facebook ?

If the OP is in Thailand having had his visa exempt cancelled either the IO is unsure of how to stop you entering, or allowed you to enter because it will mean more problems for you and more money for them the longer you stay in Thai. They will not accept an excuse of ' he cancelled it but still let me in'. I would go back to Laos now accepting the hassle you may get when booking out of Thailand and then wait in Laos until you can get a visa or flight out.

The rise is not only in Thailand but also around the world and with good cause.
On a local level I hear the mosques seem to be calling prayer a lot louder than before. Just annoying people.
Internationally well the UK, France, Belgium, Canada just a few places to mention have a justifiable cause to start hating Islam. juts see the TV on a weekly basis and the acts of terror in the name of Islam will see why people are detesting it.
More like nearly daily.....

Yes, there is more chance of getting killed on the roads than a terrorist attack in Khon Kaen but they were looking ahead in their letter, which urged the governor to “extinguish the fire in the early stages.”
Something the West has not done.....

What I have trouble coming to terms with is that DPRK has been ignoring UN resolutions and International law for decades. Sanctions have not worked over years and years. China has probably been supporting them more than they let on, and maybe Russia as well. Makes the UN a laughing stock. What's the point of the UN in such instances?

A few people will be pissed by this .....well perhaps not !

It's nice not having to rely on this economy. When it gets too crazy, I'll just move on.
Not need to stay here. More happening in Malaysia, Vietnam and Philippines anyway.
Agreed. Two of my mates have already gone to Vietnam.

The Phayao Immigration Office has been open for several weeks now. All services are available. Visa Extension, 90 Day Check In and Re-entry permit services in particular. If you do not have photo copies they will make for you but you should make a donation.
The staff are very helpful and friendly. A senior officer from Chun is commuting daily to train the staff.
It is located next door to the new Central Police Station, at the Roundabout, in the City Center. I suspect they will move to the Government Offices Center near the Phayao Hospital (not Phayao Ram) at a later date. According to my wife this office is temporary. You say Visa extension - does that include getting a 30 day extension to a 60 day tourist visa. I will be in Phayao when my 60 day tourist visa will expire. Ideas would be really appreciated.

I was there about 14 months ago. Thanks for the list - I will investigate. I have been in Bangkok too long and need to get out 55555555

I want to stay in Phayao for 2 months shortly and was wondering if there are any hotels there that offer discount for long stays. I normally stay at the Gateway Hotel but would rather be elsewhere for long stay.
Ideas ?
