I have done my own marriage and then retirement extension for over 30 years, but it takes so long, even when I have an appointment. In 2023 I arrived at Chiang Mai office at 9am with my papers, they were checked and I got a queue number. At 14;30 I had my photo taken, and my passport was returned at 15:20. In 2024 I used an agent. I gave the agent my passport and bank book, and paid the fee, 3,500 baht plus the 1,900 Immigration fee. They took the photos, and told me to meet the agent at 14:15 the following day at the Immigration Office. I met the agent at the Immigration office. The photo was taken, and immediately my passport and bank book were returned with the new extension. Time in the office less than 5 mins. I paid for the convenience.

Depends on what bank you use. I have a Barclays account and use their Internet banking system to transfer amounts to my Bangkok Bank. No fee from Barclays, maximum fee 500 baht from Bangkok Bank, or 10 Pounds if you let Barclays cover Bangkok Bank charge. SMS to tell me money has arrived before I've even logged out of my internet banking account (less than 1 minute).

The downhill trajectory of Chiang Mai immigration
delboy replied to NorthernRyland's topic in Chiang Mai
My visits to CM Immigration started in Jan 1990 when I asked what I needed to do to stay in Thailand, married to a Thai national. There was only 1 guy behind the desk in the old building on the left. He had to telephone Bangkok for guidance, and told me to apply for a 1 year extension. I filled in the form, gave him my passport and marriage certificate, he stamped the passport, and returned it with notice to return in 2 weeks. I returned every 2 weeks for about 3 months before getting the extension. I returned every month for the 90 day report and signed the book, sometimes the officer would say he couldn't find the book and to just come again next month. The first new building appeared years later, but it was easy to visit until the early 2st century. Then it got full, and I switched to a Retirement Visa. It got really bad when they switched to the Promenada, then Big Joke appeared, and the 2nd new building arrived. Since then it's been ok as long as you have the time. -
Thai PM Considers Easing Alcohol Sales Rules to Boost Tourism
delboy replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
I ordered s beer at a popular restaurant in Chiang Mai recently outside permitted hours I was told "Sorry Sir, no alcohol sales at this time, but we have wine" -
In 1990 I applied for a one year extension for reason of marriage at Chiang Mai. The IO had to phone Bangkok to find out what to do. The application was sent for processing in Bangkok, and then I had to return every 2 weeks (not 1 month as now). It took 5 months to process. Then in 1991 I applied for a new extension, and that one took a whole year without a result, then they just told me to apply again, and I needed a new passport.

Payment is in Pounds Sterling, and is deducted in the UK, so make sure the credit/debit card you use is authorised for foreign use. -

Renewing U.K. Passport at VFS Global Chiang Mai
delboy replied to skorts's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
I got my new passport in February via VFS. For address verification, I got a residence certificate from CM Immigration and a translation into English from the ABC Visa Agency. For photos I used the local photo shop in my village. Submitted 3 appointment times. They were very helpful in the office, and I got my new passport in 3 weeks. Did my first 90 day in person at CM Immigration with no problems. -
I tried using Gmail to login. I was asked for my phone number, I entered it and, like somebody above, I got the reply that the number was already in use.

I rarely use Lazada, but I tried to login a few days ago. The password has to be at least 8 characters now, and mine is 7. I tried the suggestion above from kbb and it worked, so I tried to change my password to conform with the new requirements. I got to the required page, but I had to confirm the old password before entering the new one, and it refused to accept the old password because it was less than 8 characters. So where do I go from here.

Thanks for the info. I realise that it's a guessing game as to what documents they actually require at any particular visit, so try to take copies of everything, just in case.

I need to get my stamps transferred. Do CM Immigration do this all day, just mornings, or just afternoons.
-
When I last got one, I had the option of Thai or English, does anyone know if this option is still available.

I pay my PEA bill by Credit Card using Easybills. They charge 8 baht service fee. https://www.easybills.in.th Scroll down and click on Pay Your Bill Now. Scroll down and click on Provincial Electricity Authority. Enter your "Contract Acct" This can be found at the top of your electricity bill as "C/A Ref. No.1" When you hit the "Next" button the amount of the bill will be displayed, enter C/C details to pay. They send a receipt by e-mail. I've been paying this way for over a year now with no problems.

Thanks for the reply but it's not a 90 day report, it's a TM30 change of address.

I'm changing my permanent address soon. Is it possible for me to file my TM30 online?

We are both in our 70's and have been living in our own 1 bedroom bungalow, 40Km from Chiang Mai for 30 years. We are forced to move from this house, and are considering a move to long stay rental accommodation in the Pattaya/Jomtien area. We would prefer a 1 bedroom bungalow, but would consider a 1 bedroom appartment. No need to be near the sea, but would appreciate at least a 7-11 nearby. Any recommendations of areas to consider and a guide to rental prices would be appreciated.
