  1. Help! My oven has broken, the fan has stopped working and it's only got one temperature setting which is burn! Do you have the details of someone I can call to come and fix it, in Chiang Mai? It's a built in one so I don't want to take it anywhere!

  2. Hey

I posted the same querie about a week ago with NO response! So I had to drive around and find somewhere, and I did!

The place is right next to The Grandview hotel on the Super Highway. So, coming into town just before the Grandview on the left hand side. Or coming from the Huay Kaew Road, go onto the Super Highway and take the first Uturn, once again it's on the left hand side right before the Grandview.

I have a business card but it's in Thai, the website is in English: www.khuangsingha.com tel: 05340622930

They were really helpful and the owner spoke a little English, they even dropped me off at the pool for a couple of hours and picked me up when the stereo was fitted. I got a new cd,mp3 with ipod input and four new speakers for around 7k bht. Also, my card didn't work and they trusted me to come back nearly a week later with the money!! I'm really pleased with the sound, it rocks!!

    Good luck x

  3. HI, I need a new car stereo and speakers for a 1990 Honda Civic, I have no idea about car stereos or where to go. It would need to play cd's and my Ipod and the seller would also need to fit some new speakers. Anywhere in Chiang Mai will do!!

    Thanks for your help!

  4. Yes, definitely, horses for courses! You must be English!! ha ha

NIS Is 33, 000 for 5 weeks, from 8.15 to 2.30, includes swimming twice a week and a weekly field trip. It's 1320 per day.

Hope your daughter has fun!! This is gonna be a looooonnnnnng holiday!!

  5. I don't mean put your recommendation down, but I think the reason that Napa and other Schools are more expensive is because they have qualified trained teachers, 1st class facilities and play equipment, hygiene standards and medical staff, swimming pools, gyms, computers and provide food and security.

Just out of interest who are Projects for Asia?

  6. This can't be true because it just wouldn't work here in Chiang Mai, for a multitude of reasons, one of them being that if it's anything like the Zoo, Aquariam, Diner Restaurants or anything trying to be American, it will be very bad!!

  7. Anyone know where to buy a set of reasonably priced earplugs in Chiang Mai?

I got some from boots in airport central, I need them due to the F#$Kin frogs at night once its rained. I never knew something that small could be so loud.

    ha ha ribbit ribbit

  8. Thank you for your very interesting responses. I took the Cybershot back to Tesco and they told me to go to the Sony Repair Centre in Hang Dong, I did and a very handsome (well, you guys are allways commenting on the attractivness of the ladies!) man told me that the camera was fine but my memory stick had a virus, he was right. Took my cheap DVD player back to Carrefour who kindly exchanged it, for another cheap DVD player!! :)

I nearly have enough points on my Rimping card for a sony handycam! Whoop! Whoop!

  9. Yes, I have to admit that I have been drawn towards the "promo" items, cheaper brands! It's a catch 22, I have little people who are in the habbit of destroying things in my home, so I try to buy the cheaper products, but a DVD player not working after one movie is pretty lame! Also, after the frustrastion of my camera's not working I got a sony cybershot from tesco's, now also not working!!

At least they exchange things here, but I'd still rather just have equipment that works!

  10. Sorry to rant, but, I am sick of buying, changing new cameras and DVD players! I just got my 5th DVD player today from Carrefour and halfway through a movie paused, then it wouldn't play again, now it won't play anything! So frustrating!! Why is all the electrical equipment I buy here so sxxt and where have you purchased a good DVD player from?!

  11. if you have the time or inclination, go to you tube type 'young patrick junior at golf' and just enjoy a little lad, who loves to whack golf balls, prem have kindly given him a 1005 scholarship for his golf, with the promise if life gets better, there will be funding for his general studies, if you havn't already guessed its my little 4 yr old boy, a very proud dad, tried to put it up here but i think the files to big.

Well done. Does your Son go to Prem School, is the Scholorship one thousand and five bht? and you say that Prem promises to give him an education "if life gets better", what does this mean exactly. Also, sorry to be so direct but are you not in a financial position to send your Son to Prem School or the golf academy?

my son starts school in august, when the new term starts, i dont understand what you mean,is the scholarship one thousand and five bht, let me clarify if i can, it means that the golf pro, at the acdemy, will coach my son all through his school life for free.

i fortunately am in a position to send my son to prem, but having discussed this subject with the necessary people at the prem, everyone agrees that he's been blessed with a gift.

except for my son, who only cares about what 4 yr olds care about.

however, if this talent is nutured correctly, and his game develops to a degree, the school will assist financially, in his general studies

so three parties get something out of the deal, my son gets a great education, as a parent i get financial assistance, the shool takes the credit for producing a possible golf tour player, which results in more parents sending their kids to the golf acedmy, or even the school

however it's all ifs and butts, and who knows what the future may bring, but whatever happens my boy will go to one of the finest school in thailand.

You say Prem have given him a 1005 scolarship, I was just wondering what this means.

  13. These topics are SOO boring, yes I know I don't have to read them, but I'm so intrigued as to why moderator's let you guys start new topic's which are actually responses to your other boring topic's! As I have had topic's closed before as they are not deemed to be Chiang Mai related, I argue that this topic is not only dull, but not Chiang Mai related.

    :)

  14. I think the only way to stop the owners from bringing the Elephants into town would be to start a campaign to educate tourists. Tourist need to be told not to give the owners money for food to feed the Elephants, and be encouaraged to see the Elephants in the conservation camp in Lampang or similar. Adverts and mentions in various tourist publications perhaps, maybe even a leaflet on the Aircrafts bringing the tourists here.
