  1. I find it amazing that yet again some find it necessary to bash a business of some hard working people on a public and well-read forum and try to cause damage to them.

If you don't agree with something, you find the service bad or you find the staff rude or whatever you are displeased about show some back-bone and take it up directly with the owner or manager at THEIR place and NOT on a public forum hidden behind a nick name.

Whether the chef or manager at the establishment mentioned was rude or not. None of us can verify that as we were not there. We only hear/read one side of the story.

Hardly bashing a business, mearly describing an experience, which I think is very valid, people use the internet allot before deciding where to eat, drink, holiday, live - so on, and then we as readers make our own intelligent decision as to wether to give these business' our hard earned cash. A hairdresser in Chiang Mai turned my hair blued yesterday, I will not "bash" their business but I will put my experience out there so that people can make up their own minds as to wether or not they wish to visit this salon. Its called "word of mouth" a practise that is been in operation for centuries, the only difference is that the internet reaches more people faster! Hurrah!

  2. I can't believe you were asked to turn your phone down in a bar! I allways have my phone on becuase if one of my children is sick or in an accident I need to know immediately. I think it's a shame becuase the pub could be a great venue.

  3. Yes, me too please, I was just about to post the same topic. My mother in law will be arriving in Chiang Mai on the 7th and being a keen gardener I thought this event may be fun for her. Can you tell us the best day, time for parades as featured in the pics above, I looked on the tat website but there are no times.

    THANK YOU !!!

  4. I visited in the day time with my two sons to walk around the lake and see the animals. As allways we loved it, it's only 100 bht for adults and the kids are free. We saw exactly the same animals that we have done for the last two years, they all look healthy and happy enough. I couldn't comment on the animals you see on the actual "night" safari.

  5. been at platinum today, the pool is empty, the rooms look empty too. No one inside, but a TV was running ;-)

Doesn't look like any visible renovation work was done. I will check again after the holiday, but maybe they stay closed forever.

Can a platinum member please confirm if the gym is reopening, I have just been there and there are no sign of rennovations, the sign is still on the door saying that it will reopen on the 1st but today is the 5th!

I need to know as I will have to join another gym, also, do you think there is any chance of getting my money back?

  6. orangetree.

you are asking a load of 50 to 70 year olds who like 19 to 25 year old ladys about body jam ??? body combat ???? body pump aerobics who are NOT Fitness FANATICS but like leisurly exersise ( either ST or LT ) with the said ladys ?

grow up and go and get yourself a life young man .

SAD... doesnt even come anywhere near you !

Oh my god! This response is so offensive. Orangetree was asking for fitness information and is having responses regarding sex with young thai ladies, what has this got to do with the question. It is people like you that turn people off this forum. I am not a 50 to 70 year old who likes to have sex with young Thai ladies.

Powerhouse, Platinum and California Wow all do the said fitness classes.

  7. We negotiated 8K at Platinum...you should still be able to get that rate. Gyms are well aware that a significant percentage of members initially make it a point to exercise on a scheduled basis--several times a week. But after 3-4 months, their enthusiasm or dedication wanes and in many cases they stop going altogether...but the gym has pocketed your money for a year in advance. Unless you are a really dedicated gym rat, you might actually do better with a monthly fee membership.

Yes I only paid 8k, but I need to know if its reopening.

  8. Does anyone have up to date news on Platinum, I'm getting flabby with the holiday and if they don't reopen I'll have to look around?. Went to Powerhouse and they wanted 400 bht per day or join 2,500 a month!! Crazy!

  9. what is your postal code? I go pick my stuff up also and mine is50210. Happy to give directions if it's the same

    Hi

I'm just the 'pretentious idiot', trying to help out you directionally-challenged Americans, despite the calumny you heap upon me. (Come on Bunta, how does a postcode help the man find the blxxdy bxxldxng??).

This applies to you, OP, sorry, even if you are not American.

Let's start at the very beginning. A very good place to start. The main drag, No 118, from CM to CR. Going north, just past the cross roads with the Central ring road, fork left at the next lights (only 50 meters north) and go flatout for 2 kms or more.

Simply look out for the red post box on the right with a car park and building behind it. That is the (fairly well hidden) Sansai brysenee (post office)!

It's not well run, it's hard to find and overcrowded. I choose to drive further to Doi Saket. Easy to find, and a model of efficiency.

    Ta-daaaa!

Hi, erm, thanks, I think! I'm not American, I'm not sure what your American references are about, I LOVE Americans x The postcode matters because all catchment postcode area post not delivered will be sent to a relevant post office for customer collection. I cannot read Thai, so cannot read the address of the postoffice, the postman said Sansai!

I'm off now to follow your directions, for which I am very grateful!

I'm excited to see what is in this HUGE box that would not fit on the postmans bike!

  10. The post office in San Sai town is on the main road going thru town, left side coming from CM I recall. There are however many post offices in Amphur San Sai each with a different postal code like 50290 is the one in Mae Joe which is in Amphur San Sai. Take some money in case they want to collect duty tax.

    Thank you x

  11. I'm sorry, but those directions make perfect sense to me! The sign was at the Nim City Rimping, which is where the sign was, and the new fish and chip shop (which smelt amazing when I walked passed the other day) is infact 3 blocks (stores) left of Rimping.

    Merry Christmas!!
