  1. Dont see the problem with a bona fide tourist with a bank account.

Ive been a tourist in Thailand taking four holidays a year in the Kingdom for the past 18 years (never once made an in/out 'border run' though).

Have two Thai bank accounts (one as back up in the event of vagaries of their connection to the internet) both always have been fed directly from overseas.

& two holiday homes in the Kingdom.

Nowhere in the west would this be considered strange or in any way the signs of someone abusing visas (though to be frank I fail to see how swathes of people availing themselves of the then accepted normal application of the rules in Thailand - and the similarly tolerated ancillary businesses can retroactively be termed 'abusers') or indeed intending to go skulking about scratching a living below the radar.

  2. Using DHL is a good way to ensure customs of around 30% are applied. Companies like DHL, FedEx, UPS, etc., can get things through customs fast because they do such an outstanding job in collecting customs for the govt...makes the govt happy. I would recommend you use the regular postal system whenever possible to lower the chance of customs being applied.

    This ^

  3. Thepprasit is an evening market...go any other time and its shut.

Soi Buakhao is a daytime (rolled up n gone by 6pm) Tuesdays & Fridays at the SouthvPattaya Rd end of Soi Buakhao (no hospital in proximity)

Sent from my GT-I9152 using Thaivisa Connect Thailand mobile app

  4. Worse still those gumps in fancy dress

Stopped in a mass docs check on Sukhumvit

A par broiled farang in a dayglo nylon suit with more badges than a boy scout convention proceeds to give me the gogo gaga baby bar speak - for christ's sake we are both ENGLISH!! I appreciate that these useless clowns cant utter a syllable of Thai language (thereby wholly negating their raison d'etre) but why the self enforced inability with their native language? Could it be that once divested of the 'bat suit' they are straight back to their natural habitat cooing 'me pay bar you' etc

  5. Thepprasit as I said dwarfs Buakhaow (if you think otherwise refer to google maps or walk both of them)

Thepprasit is though teeming with Russians who descend there in force from all those way south of Pattaya hotels that package tour them in. Parking can be daunting there to the uninitiated (but at least it has extensive car parks if you know where to look - unlike Buakhaow where you will be hard pressed). If on two wheel take the center entrance go past the condo building and park in on the right hand side, on four wheels (anticipating loads of bags of buys) take the last entrance (towards the beach from Suk) use the condo buildings as your marker - youre turning in left just after the last one - straight in and park left or right at the end or onwards into the big car park further on.

    ;)

  6. OP - there are many markets all over the city as others have said. However, I find they all stock the same/similar items at the same/similar price. Seen one, seen them all.

The biggest one is arguably the Soi Buakhaow market or the Thepprasit weekend market.

True, but it depends how you like your Russians, tolerable or invasion strength ;)

Thepprasit dwarfs Buakhaow market and offers many options to eat there as well in the quite extensive food section

  7. Homepro 'hab promoshun' on Yale at the moment

But agree security can get very disproportionate here in Thailand when you can mount a 'bank safe' style multi point locking door unit into a wall made from single course cinder blocks - 10 minutes /two men/hammer could probably steal the door ;) Then as said above - the windows, or the seldom overlooked lift to enter roof tiles.

  8. In the countless times I've done this never once was the express really a valid option (due to timing) wait around some crazy length of time for the next express or just get on the next 'normal' one

Sit in it till the end o' the line (Phaya Tai) down the stairs & across to BTS

    no problemo
