Unhinged Thai son attacks mother in dog discipline dispute

The son, the dog or both? -
And where were Thai social services. A 14 year old drug addict living with his grandmother...any social, medical or educational Interventions to support a clearly vulnerable family? Likewise another. drug addict albeit older, but again no social support network. If drug addiction is such a widespread social problem in Thailand where are the social support services to deal with and prevent the educational, economic and social.crises that often precipitate from such situations? Nowhere, nadda, nothing...just blame drugs it's simpler, cheaper and absolves the government of any responsibility. Without any such services, the underlying issues surrounding drug addiction will remain; poverty, lack of opportunity, broken and dysfunctional families etc etc. Any debate about 'blame or fault' is null and void until these issues are dealt with first.

I would hope that all children have no understanding of Lesbian, Gay, Bi-sexual, Trans or Queer (LGBTQ) sexuality or gender preference as they are children (and I would include hertero sexuality as well). As children transition to adulthood then that discussion should be available. but for children no. So when is the straight pride festival - In the interests of gender and sexual balance shouldn't all us old boring straights have the opportunity to parade our sexuality around town?

Foreigners Rounded Up In Surat Thani Crackdown

Honetsly most Thais are not anti-foreigner - the vast majority really don't care. Those that are anti-forigner are just better or more passionate about beating their xenophobic drums. -

23 years here with visas. taxes, property and eventually PR- that's longer than you!! Does that make me more right than you? -
Listen ya all. This is Thailand and Thai people love their booze. There will never be a time or holiday when you can't buy yourself a beer or a box of beer. Whatever takes your fancy. The laws are outdated and antiquated and the people have bypassed the laws. Every moo Baan, village or town has a number of shops that will not only sell you your choice of drink....but will get the local motorcycle crew to deliver it to your door.

Foreigners Rounded Up In Surat Thani Crackdown
jonclark replied to webfact's topic in Southern Thailand News
Lol..you do know this is Thailand..."follow the rules." Just like Prayut and Sonthi before did. Okay then. Very simple. I guess you, as a young Russian male, would follow the rules and go to war then when conscripted. You are either braver or more stupid than me ..but either way you will probably end up in a hospital if you are lucky or in a zinc lined coffin if less lucky Very simple. -
Foreigners Rounded Up In Surat Thani Crackdown

People create problems for other people... ain't that the truth in any and all walks of life. We are all on the same iceberg because tomorrow if the government wished all immigration rules and regs could be changed at the drop of a hat and the swish of a pen; for example B800'000 in the bank becomes B8 '000'000 in the bank and the iceberg would start to melt, (or the tip gets bigger). You're only truly safe and off the proverbial iceberg, when you have PR or citizenship. -
Foreigners Rounded Up In Surat Thani Crackdown
jonclark replied to webfact's topic in Southern Thailand News
I think you have taken this slightly out of context (as has the OP). A number of people are fleeing a war or being constripted into a war that they see no point in fighting, as I assume these are Russian? I would like to ask you what would you do in that situation? Return and fight (and likely die), Return and face charges of distertion and a lengthy prison sentence or Stay put and try to ride it out with limited funds, even if that means breaking a few rules. I would be interested in your response. -

Just remember - all foreigners - yourself included are on the same iceberg irresepctive of how compliant, lawful and integrated you consider yourself. Worth remembering. -
So they EC dismisses the case agai at Pita about his eligibility and then starts its own investigation to see if he knew he was ineligible after the EC twice co firmed his eligibility twice in 2019 and 2023. Can we please have an investigation to see if the EC is fit for purpose? Cause from where I and many other people are standing the EC has turned into a complete shambles whose authority and respect is dwindling with every announcement they make. The EC should sue the EC for gross negligence and failure to perform its duty properly.

Public Health Ministry Admits Doctors Face Huge Workload
jonclark replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
I think it is the requirement that health care professionals need to be able to communicate in Thai (including reading and writing) to a high standard. I have only ever met 1 Dr. who was not Thai (American i think) and she was a professor attached to one of the large universities who worked as a consulatant / with Dr in training. -

DPM Wissanu addresses Pita’s media share ownership
jonclark replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
EC should be sacked (and probably jailed)- If he is ineligible why did they let him stand in the first place? - If they are not checking the qualifications and eligibility of MPs prior to an election they are guilty of gross negligence. Have they checked the qualification and eligibility of all other MPs' before the election or not? If not why not? I mean Pita has been a sitting MP in parliment since the 2019 and the EC and (now) opposition MPs never once questioned his eligibility in the previous 4 years. He has had these 'shares' in a now defunct company (its now Thai PBS not iTV which is the 'dead' media company), which disappeared and was wound up back in 2006/7.- 23 replies

Why do I get the nagging feeling that a farangs wheelchair will be charged as the same rate as a car to enter a National Park???
