The Police and the Health Authorities have different messages to Restaurant Owners. I spoke with Clayton who co-owns London Steak in Buriram on Thursday. My daughter owns a small Thai restaurant was ordered by police on Thursday evening to stop sit down dining and to only serve via take away and delivery. Book & Bed Restaurant in Buriram is owned by a Thai couple. London Steak and Book N Bed Restaurant both had sit down diners spaced 2 meters apart on Thursday. It could be different today. My point is that different Government authorities have different understandings of the guidelines. Safety for everyone should be the goal.

Jimmy's in Buriram is open for sit down dining also. 2 people per table, tables a certain distance apart, etc.

  2. Fly my country's flag?  No.  Maybe my state's flag generates some nostalgic yearning.  But, still, no.  Might as well raise a banner in Thai announcing "the farang and all his money live HERE."

I've never had a problem being robbed here. It might have something to do with my sign though.

  3. A little disappointed here.

Lot's of answers about my flag being lower or higher than the Thai flag and if the pole is short enough or long enough.

My original question was, are you proud of your own country as to display your national flag or you have just forgotten everything living the good life in Thailand?

I flew the US flag in front of my house for the first 3-4 years I  lived here until it finally wore out. Plenty of my neighbors are high ranking Army and Police and they never cared at all. I only flew the US flag so I never worried about height. US law stipulates that "International usage forbids the display of the flag of one nation above that of another nation in time of peace". If I was to fly both I would do so at the same height.

  4. I just got my shiny new Laney120w Combo. I'm available for Weddings, barmitsthingys. birthdays and noisy babies. I'll bring the 5 string and give them plenty of low B at 3-4 am..I chortle at the fool who said Led Zeppelin...

My noise problem was 5 chihuahuas next door. Tried talking nice to the lady and of course I was the a-hole for even mentioning it. I downloaded a sound clip of dobermans and pit bulls barking like they were killing something and played it through my window facing her house with my Laney CX P.A. system (345 watts rms per channel) every time they started barking. Problem solved. Now she keeps them in the house. Thais usually won't listen to reason and will only get mad at you. You have to "fight fire with fire" with them.

  5. What, no Southern biscuits

I really miss American-style buttermilk biscuits. I have had some passable ones here, but nothing really good for many years. The funny thing is that KFC used to sell them 20 years ago, but they never caught on with the Thais. Actually, Popeyes Fried Chicken did too, but they closed down after the 97 economic downturn in Thailand.

Biscuits at Popeyes in the airport. Popeyes is back! Yea baby!

  6. I have known many Thai women that would only give oral sex to a circumcised man for hygiene reasons. They have told me no matter how much you wash it is always smells. I don't know? Only repeating what I was told. I'm glad I'm smegma free and don't have that problem.
