Baldrick, does this plan involve giving up the house you built in Thailand and deserting your Thai/British children to live in a grotty bedsit in the UK where you can be sued for not sending child support money to your wife which you can't afford to do because your pension has been reduced due to the fact that you no longer live with her?
sounds like you need to grow a backbone, no one is deserting anyone. If you find yourself in that situation you only have yourself to blame. A lot of plan B's will mean switching from retirement to marriage extensions, 400k Baht is a much better option. Some of us will do the 60 day extension based on married to a Thai and this will give more time to raise the deposit for next extension.
Spare us the b*llix about house, wife, kids, you think your the only one?

Please note heading TM7 form:
555, good one. Maybe the Embassy have decided as many of us are only here temporarily why bother with this letter stuff.
Most Brits I know have digested this announcement now, and unless Immigration change the rules its time to put plan B into effect. 'Baldrick- I have a cunning plan'.

Just as you can prove the 800,000 lump sum in a Thai bank, I believe as long as you can prove deposits totalling 800,000 in a Thai bank over a period of 12 months that will be acceptable. It wouldn't necessarily have to be 65,000 a month.
Updated passbook and letter from the bank can confirm those deposits.
The combination method could work in exactly the same way.
Let's hope so as for several years I have used the combo method. My service pension falls short of the 65K and not having the lump sums. Spent years back on wife, family and children. Up sh*t creek without a paddle springs to mind. Ex pats are already discussing here about lending or borrowing money to make up short falls.
Like Brexit, we are Brits and we will survive.

As you are so keen for expats to comply with the regulations, perhaps you can clarify what the regulations actually are? Read the threads before posting vacuous and otiose comments
He surely will reply soon, after confirming with his agent what the regulations are.

For many years I have used the embassy income letter and savings in the bank (BKB) for retirement extensions. Will my Imm office accept the annual P60 and pension forecast plus savings?. I cannot raise 800K Baht, so looks like a switch to a marriage extension. Yikes.

I wonder why the Brit embassy say they are unable to verify your income?, too much like hard work, not enough staff etc. I do the income letter every year using the combo method for retirement extensions. I know many others who keep little funds here and use the letter as proof for pensions banked in UK.

You believed her when she told you she was an accountant?
Why not?, accountant is just a posh word for cashier here.

All calm down, just remember the only two words in the driving manual here, "me first" and all is fine. In 15 years driving, just two shunts, and a few shopping trolleys bounced off the truck.

Good TV coverage on channel 7 this morning, and for once quite impressed with how the RTP are conducting this investigation. Particularly liked the comment , "after intense interrogation", in reference to the three suspects.
Looking at the pictures of the couple's property and assets , I wouldn't describe them as flash.
Well not compared to some of the farang mansions around me.

My new BBL Debit card worked everywhere, so far. BBL dropped VISA due to high fees. Haven't been to Europe lately but a quick search should help. Ain't the internet wunnerful...

Doesn't work with Lazada, booking.com, and linking your Line account . A garage I use locally does now have UP signs displayed, every time I ask, get the standard "cannot". "Maybe tomorrow my friend", to use a good Greek saying.

Easier said than done in practice nowadays for retirees and others without work permits, though.
Come on, steady. You just know someone going to comment about "only this week I opened six accounts with just my yellow book and pink ID card".

Another tip.
Does the form you complete state 'Application for a Visa' or 'Application for extension of temporary stay in the Kingdom'.
Speaks for itself really!
We don't need your tips, you have now gone way past tedious. When you can pull your self away from the keyboard, take a drive westwards to our IO and lecture the officers there who insist on calling extensions retirement and marriage visas. They are a reasonable lot who will appreciate another Mr Thailand telling them their job.

I thought D-Max was the name of Isuzu Pickup.
Highlander and V-Cross are varients. Plenty of information on Isuzu website ..Tri-Petch is the big dealer ..best to go there or your local dealership.
We had the 2012 V-Cross 3Ltr ...no complaints ..but now would suggest Ford Wildtrak
Let's not miss an opportunity to insert a Ford lovers jab into every motoring topic.

Yes some of the comments are unbelievable, CPTL insurance premiums are 300 Baht for motorcycle and 600 Baht for pickup truck/car, what sort of cover do expect for that price?
Most Por Lor Bors accident cover limits are 300000 Baht death, permanent disability, 80000 Baht towards medical expenses, 35000 Baht towards funeral expenses.
The cover is for all persons, in or outside a vehicle, both drivers and passengers, owners of vehicles or pedestrians. It is covered more fully in the motor vehicles injury act, 2535.

Correct as I believe the payment to third parties would be covered by CTPL not the voluntary insurance as as I understand it.
Even if you have first class voluntary insurance you still need to have CTPL as well.
Yes the C stands for, compulsory, you need CPTL (por lor bor) to tax vehicles at the PLTO's, they are not interested in other type of insurance you may have. As far as I know the PLB covers medical, expenses, loss of limbs, death, funeral expenses etc, not damage to vehicles, property etc, that's where your other insurances come in.
The premium for motorcycle CPTL is only 300 Baht so your not going to get much cover.
My friends daughter was recently involved in a motorcycle fall, she was the pillion passenger, her friend was riding. The Police were involved, neither girls had licences. My friend , his wife and daughter had to go to the local Police station, for bollicking and 400 Baht fine for letting the other girl ride the mo-cy with no licence. The CPTL paid the hospital expenses/bill for girl riding the bike, my friends daughter did not require treatment.

ok, I will have a stab at this, grandson of King George V just maybe.
Similar to the current Queen's grandsons who appear to be amassing a collection of titles.
