Michelin say 3 years on the shelf is OK, no guarantee ploblem for 9 years including the 3 year shelf relaxing...:stoner:

Good to know, Lazada have Michelin latitudes at 3K a tyre, 235/55/17s. Fired off a q to the outfit selling them on date made, still waiting. As for tyre rotation, if you have a trolley jack or even use the vehicle one you could do it yourself. Good exercise and keep you out of the bar for a bit.

  2.  Wichian town  - Norms Bar  , The Local,  Swiss blokes bar,  Indoor market bar.  More farangs here than sugar cane. I know of 2 golf societies and a weekly fishing meet up. Too many places to mention for western food, both are big Phetchabun amphurs. The Brit in Norms bar (on the high street) will give you all the gen, he does a decent UK style Sunday lunch.  WB,  Phu Toei, & Sri Thep  all have good markets, plus a Big C and Tesco Lotus mini shopping malls recently opened.  Unless you are a big Makro fan no need to trek up to Phetchabun anymore.  Not sure about a social scene in Sri Thep, I only use the place for banking now, Bangkok Bank and SCB being there.

As stated above no need to use agents their a rip-off, did my non-O in Oz 4 years ago then went to Jomtien for Retirement, the lady at counter 8 is most helpful, also the gentleman at end of counter,  I do all my own extensions, no problems, no need for agents

You must have just got off yesterdays boat. Why do you think some bods here use agents?, A. They do not have the required funds or are not prepared to keep the money in the Thai bank for 3 months. I routinely bump into these people and the last one surprised me as he had just sold property back in his home country.

You can't be a driver, if you don't know it's more easy to reverse in and go stright out.

If you know how to use your morrows u can park perfect that way.

Yup I quickly learnt that driving for Sainsbury's, much easier to unload the truck too. 55.

Truck drivers tip, if in doubt--"goal", get out and look. Mind you cameras were being fitted when I left.

How many people have said something to their partner and got a tongue lashing in return and they have not understood what it was they said to upset her in the first place? You can count me in on that one!

As I've already said, the Arab is showing considerable restraint. His body language tells me he is somewhat bemused by it all. And I also know, from many years experience in the region that Gulf Arabs, which I suspect this man to be, are quite mild mannered on not given to temper tantrums, unlike many Thais!

And contrary to the rubbish I've read on this thread, Arab men do not all treat their women like trash. That is typical stereotyping from ignorant people who have probably never visited the region, let alone gotten to know its people.

I was enjoying this post until I read 'gotten to know its people', what is it with Americans and 12th century English words. No history I guess.

It's not a matter of "if", it's a matter of "when", they already said they were planning to do it once, plus the US and Australia have already very recently removed theirs. And I don't know that you're reading popular opinion that well, my take is that there's a lot of resentment back home that expats have this deduction.

Absolute tosh, you must be another fully paid up member of the "project fear club"., the pa not being paid to UK non residents was an idea floated by G Osbourne when he was Chancellor and we all know what PM May thought of him. HMG and the SFO have much bigger fish to pursue, ie, who's money has bought London tower blocks and pension fund raiders. UK Ex pats can still sleep soundly here.

My wife always uses her ID and gives them an email address and we quite often get 'hotel special weeked offers' etc to that address. Not her generally used email address of course.

Very rarely get asked for my passport.

Am I missing something here?, are the hotels supposed to report the presence of foreigners staying on the premises?. Do you sleep in the car?

Up here in Isaan country there is another reason for buying 91...everyone else does. That means the forecourt tanks are constantly replenished, the water content will be lower and the fuel cleaner/fresh.........er.

    Why buck the system?

Well, what coincidence, I too live in a northern province  where most folk speak Lao. All the young lads here remove the mirrors and rear light bulbs from their mums waves, perhaps I will too.

    Why buck the system.

I would suggest buying some supplemental insurance as the compulsory insurance covers very little. I have a couple scooters and a big bike. I use 95 in the big bike and 91 in the scooters. The Honda Airblade is 11 years old and still runs great on 91.

I took your advice and for the price of a can of Leo per week have some extra insurance to go with the ctpl.

In our town the difference in price is between 95 & 91 is only a few satang. Somchai who sold the bike to me said 95, so will go with that.

The basket stays on for the time being, so says Mrs PT2.

  11. Thanks for all the response, all good stuff. I live a few miles from a large town on Route 21 and every Monday the Bib have a checkpoint in the morning, it's probably the only time that the locals wear a crash helmet when going to the market. The BIB  used to do the pee tests for ya ba, my wife's brother was full of it, and had a nice 3 month holiday in Chon Buri prison. Second offence, first time just a fine      -plonker.

  12. Just purchased a new Honda wave 110 and have a couple of q's. It's been registered in the wife's name, but myself and no doubt others will be riding it. I noticed the compulsory insurance is in the wife's name, is this a problem if others ride it?. We have regular police blocks in town checking these things, licence, tax, helmet etc. The wave is 2017 model and I asked the man who delivered it what type of fuel to put in, he said 95, the hand book says 95 or 91. I have a trusty old Honda lawnmower that runs on 91. We tend to buy our juice from the local mom/pop shop, as the garage is a few clicks down the road. Cheers.

Toyota do a petrol pickup for those who want a ride with no grunt...

Absolute rubbish comment from you as per. Op, go test drive one, they are plenty quick enough for here. Plus they don't sound like a 5 yo Kubota on start up, you will be pleasantly surprised.
