  1. Concur about getting a resident certificate at the Tessabaan, I have done it on three licence renewals now. Requires marriage certificate and passport, plus with wife in tow. The form is free, just about all written out in Thai script, plus it is for all foreigners married to Thais, there were 2 Myanmar men in the office getting the same certificate.

As an aside we have a female Mayor who runs this town, I know her fairly well, always at wedding, funerals etc here. She signs off the certificate.

Just remember you can ignore the back, put your passport in the safe, and the card does it all, bank, hotel, police checks etc.. The card is good as it assures people that you should be completely legal, and the fact you have this ID, that Thailand has accepted you and your right to be here. :shock1: Remember, I am talking about the day to day Thai people, not those who think you are not worthy! Get one, flash it and watch the wheels turn! 70-80 baht a pop, 10mins to do, but, she will have to go to the storeroom to get a blank, yellow book and passport plus copies.

Absolute rubbish, most of us here are on annual extensions, do not meet the requirements and your not here, you can have all your pink and yellows you like. A new Immigration office has set up in the province I live in and for this years extension based on retirement its like starting from when you just arrived. I asked about all the years reporting to the previous Immigration Office and just lots of blank looks. Ram it.

  3. Just resurrecting this thread, how do you pay the monthly sub here in Thailand?. I was chatting with some one on Netflix helpline about it and they said Credit/debit card or PayPal.

Over here I only have Unionpay Bangkok card and a UK debit card that I rarely use. They did mention AIS promotions too, we have our mobiles on contract with AIS.

Though up country I have TOT fibre for house internet. Mrs PT2 is a big YouTube movie watcher.

Yes there was, we voted for a common market though, not a federal union of Europe which was the scam we had imposed on us

We only have ourselves to blame on that one, instead of standing on the sidelines whinging, re_rebates, CAP,  fishing policy, we could have been influencing matters and stood up to the Franco-Germans bs. How many times have we had that 5th/6th biggest economy crap mentioned. Should have grown a pair.

In an age when many live to a ripe old age being happy with their lot, why check out at 59? I just don't see it and I've been a dog in my day, but not to the point of destroying myself.

Like I said in an earlier post, if it's your want to emulate GB, go ahead........

Few could lace GB's boot laces, let alone emulate him.

One thing not mentioned here, unless I have missed it, but Off road driving requires different techniques. How many people have had any training in Off road driving?

One or two I would think, though a few decades back now, CTA, Salisbury Plain, Soltau ,Bergen Hohne and a nice excursion in the desert with 7th Arm Bde.

My Smart cab 4x4 Vigo was 1050 to retax last week, 2.5 ltr. cheap as chips.

Yes, taxed as a commercial truck, two doors, same as my Nissan Frontier when I first came here, but TW wanted a four door, but then 69 BHT to one GB peso, glory days.

I agree, aspirin is a good emergency item.  But, just try and find aspirin in Thailand. Very hard, if not impossible to find....

You can buy Aspirin here, the brand name is Aspilets. Part of the Antiplatelet family of drugs. Sometimes called blood thinners, but they do not really do that, more of an anti blood clotting drug. I buy them at the local pharmacy and take one 81mg tablet every day. Have done for the last 11 years, the UK cardiologist I went to recommended that I start taking them.

  10. Went out and bought a Mitsubishi WP85Q5 at 4550 Baht. The local builders supply shop had a shelf full of water pumps. No mains water to our place, pump from an underground well to tanks and then pump into house.

  11. My Hitachi water pump has packed in after 10 years, any recommendations for a new one?. Thinking of buying a cheaper less powerful one, only have two bathrooms, kitchen sink and outside loo to supply.
