  1. Going to a park is a very serious offence, on a par with fb comments, 30 years (death sentence) at least, what do these people think this country is, the land of the free?

Where is the information that they have been arrested just for visiting that park?

I believe there are a lot o reasons why they should be in jail.

Criminals usually are not arrested for being somewhere but because of an arrest warrant.

They were arrested at Manachai market, presumably for breaking their bail conditions by going shopping. Well reports say for talking to the media on their plans to visit the park. The Army understandably not wanting any civilians investigating have now duly whisked them away for attitude adjustment. Standby for news on mysterious deaths in window less cells.

  2. Judging by the angle of that back axle, is wasn't a small tap either.

His wife put a few pics on FB with more detail, looks like some damage to rear axle and drive shaft. Apparently it took some time to extract them from inside as the doors wouldn't open. The emergency services, those EMS guys I think in pickup trucks were very good local garage boys got the truck out of the drain.

Guess that's why they call it a Champ.

Lots of jokes flying around here now among the ex-pat crowd., an Isuzu would have been squashed etc---

  3. This happened to an elderly neighbour of mine (ex-pat) Monday afternoon. Driving down the frontage road in town and some bojo drove out of a Soi, side swiped him onto the curbstone and toppled into the storm drain.

Fortunately no injuries to himself or wife, just a bit shaken. No medical treatment required but kept at the scene for over 4 hours with insurance assessors and Police. The truck was later taken away to the Police compound, unsure why as the Toyota dealership is just minutes away from there.

I have no details of the other vehicle as I have not had chance to speak to my neighbor yet but his wife informed my Mrs that the seat belts worked OK.

  4. Kiwis, you lucky basta....!

You are allowed to vote about your own flag.

We Europeans NEVER got to vote whether we wanted the UK in the EU.

And now those spoiled brats are saying: " unless you give us even more favours, we are out!"

General De Gaulle was right: NON NON NON.

But I still love you Kiwis.

And do get rid of that colonialist symbol in your old flag.

without the Brits at the heart of NATO and the EU most Euro's would be still licking out German or Russian dustbins. Spare us the colonialist BS too, we have been flying that flag since 1606 and most couldn't give a rats a*se what you do with your flags.

  5. I washed and Meguires Black Waxed my car twice within the first week to give it a bit more protection and a lovely deep shine.

After spending a not insignificant amount of money on a new car I feel it is worth giving it a helping hand to look good for longer (until some fekwit scratches it with his scooter).

nope, complete waste of Leo time. Things I have learnt about truck ownership here.

    1. Never wash em in the rainy season.

    2. All other times drop it off at the car wash, the boys bring it around to the house when done.

    3. Above fails, get wife & brats to wash it.

    5. edited for spelling

  6. having lived in the area for a few years, a good few years back and I also visit regularly. I can tell you the mall does not ' make the man' so to speak. People there are still very 'stuck in their ways'. In the toilets people still stand on the seats (western toilets), drivers of all vehicles go up and down either side of the road and most soi's still can wake up to the cockerel in the mornings. Farangs are still quiet a novelty for many, so expect to be starred at (non threatening way). With the massive industrial workforce in Nawanakorn close you will see scores of factory workers walking around the mall, especially on Sundays.

It is worth a visit and enjoy the experience but It is hardly downtown Bangkok and don't expect it too be.

    I've been a regular visitor since 2003.

Never ever have I seen any evidence of anyone standing on toilet seats. I certainly don't go around looking under cubicle doors, maybe you do. I've never seen footprints or anything else that might suggest that.

I agree that there are not the hordes of farang, Arabs and Indians you see in central Bangkok malls.

hmmn, and I thought the boxer knew everything about Thailand, Tesco's used to have posters in cubicles showing how to sit on the toilets correctly, a funny diagram of a bloke squatting on the bog with his feet and a big x thru it.

  7. Headline reads, “Red shirts go to ground after Article 44 used”. A less-parochial observer might have assumed the Reds were simply following the junta’s well-publicised directions.

Either way, anybody seeing this a victory for the junta over the Reds chooses to ignore the fact that the country is no closer to reconciliation.

Thailand is still a much divided country!

Incidentally, in Myanmar, the red shirts supporters were out in force to support their leader over the weekend.

It is a victory, there were no reds on the street no disruption from the mob who usually threatens judges and so on when someone they care about is in court.

So yes its a big victory when they are not allowed to intimidate judges and when street protests (on either side) are not held.

If this goes on long enough the people might start to think differently about street protests.

And please with your pic don't try to equate a real hero with YL

"If this goes on long enough the people might start to think differently about street protests. "

If this goes on long enough the street protests you found so frightening will seem like a minor inconvenience.

its all about No 1 with Robbo, he can get to work now, no nasty red shirts in his way. All down to the coup and military running the show. Understandable he frightens easily, he is from a part of Europe that would be still licking out German dustbins if it wasn't for the Brits and others.

  8. Alpha...... there still Fiberglass.........

Last 2 trucks + next one will be steel http://www.sammitr.com/en/products/download_catalog.aspx?cat=1&prdid=17

400,000 km/4 years they still look like brand new.. NO paint fade, no problems at all..

the 2 trucks before had the Fiberglass canopies, with paint fade and a number of fixture problems, 2 houses up in the Village his Vigo has a lump of wood to hold the back open..

Thanks but they are for a Vigo, I'm after something for a Revo

Apologies for a hijack, but what is your Revo like, pleased with it, for a new truck there has been little on here info wise. The whole motoring forum seems just lately to have been taken over by the "I've considerably more money than you, SUV t-------ers.. I only delve in now for AOP's valuable insights to motoring in the kingdom. whistling.gif

  9. Presumably this same protection will be afforded to officials investigating the Abhisit Government Rice Scheme NACC investigation? Perhaps Art.44 could be used to force the government agencies to provide the evidence that apparently has been delaying proceedings;

He said the NACC’s investigation of the Abhisit government’s rice guarantee has been delayed due to insufficient evidence despite the NACC’s repeated requests for documents from related government agencies.

    http://www.pattayamail.com/news/nacc-member-rules-out-double-standard-in-rice-graft-probe-35351

    or perhaps not.........................

The accused persons in the corruption investigation under Abhisit are mostly the same ones being investigated under Yingluck, which are warehouse operators, rice millers and smugglers. Abhisit and his cabinet were not accused of corruption in the program. For, that matter, neither is Yingluck. She is accused of negligence and mismanagement which allowed losses to exceed 500 million baht. There was never parliamentary approval to spend that sum on the program, rendering it unconstitutional, and, hence, her culpability for the losses.

more rubbish from junta lovers incorp, Who appointed you as judge/jury? , a farang to boot as well. She is not culpable for anything, and will walk from the show trial beginning soon.

  10. Phu Toei is only 28 kms into the south of Phetchabun province, most locals here do not consider they are a Northern province. Many are of Laos descent too, every year in May we have the Bang Fi rocket festival, a custom brought across from the NE provinces. Slightly curtailed this year on orders from the men in green.

The Thai/Chinese community in town also finance a week long festival in November, dragon acrobatic dancing show, bands, beer bars, OTOP stalls etc.

  11. I went last year... Pretty good turn out.. Ceremony was a bit too religious for my liking but the hot dogs n beer were bonza smile.png

I was there too and the Padre from Bangkok does a good job, saying the Lords Prayer once a year is not much to ask. Standing in the warm sunshine of Don Rak sure beats a cold damp morning at the Cenotaph.

  12. Cheers for all the helpful posts and cheers to the minority for making me laugh, safety is a big thing with me so I'll choose wisely.

sound advice and it needs to be with Thailand moving up to second place in the world for the deadliest roads. I seriously hope the General tackles this problem soon, start paying the cops a decent salary and get them out enforcing the traffic laws.

  13. Test drive the Everest then get a refund.

Ignore that piece of cr-- advice I mean, and do not go anywhere near a Ford dealership. Too many of us here still have nightmares from the 70'80's with Dagenham dustbins.

Same goes for you - I'm sure we'd all like to hear your own, personal, Ford Thailand horror story smile.png

well here is one for you smart a*se, having the timing belt changed on my XLT Ranger in Ford Chainat 2007 if I remember correctly, was not only presented with the invoice but three small plastic screws. When I inquired why they were not put back from where they were taken out from, much shrugging of shoulders. I doubt if their mechanics have improved much since. facepalm.gif
