  1. YES, Toyota did fit a VSC system to help with a trucks roll characteristics....

Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeer, do NEW Fords have VSC..?.......coffee1.gif

Yes they do, I wonder why...........laugh.png

No need to wonder - it's because Ford have long been the market leader in Thailand when it comes to safety features...

2010 Ford Fiesta - first compact car in TH with a full set of airbags and electronic safety aids the same as it's Western market equivalents.

2011 Ford Ranger - first pickup in TH with same

2012 Ford Focus - first mid size car in TH with same

Ford has been giving the market proper safety features a lot longer than anyone else. And some brands still don't offer it all. Only EU brands have been doing it longer in TH.

What does stand out is Toyota - they fitted VSC to the Fortuner and Vigo but continued giving them just 2 airbags - why did they do just half a job? Because VSC wasn't added as a safety aid, but more a safety necessity. i.e. what you're trying to insinuate here is applicable to Toyota.

You can spout on all you like about Ford, but there are particular types of Brits on TV that were brought up on a series of crap Fords, even the Transit with the 3.2 was crap compared to the Merc sprinter, I worked for Parcel Force in London and was pretty familiar with both types. Still have nightmares from my ownership of MK2 Escort. Pretty as they look the new Rangers, I'll stick with anything Japanese, which is currently a 6yo Vigo.

  2. So much for Mr P's "efforts to bring about reconciliation" then.

This man and his sponsors will bring ruin to Thailand's door.

just because Jutaporn opens his mouth does not reflect what the majority of Thai people think, he has no mandate to represent anyone, he is a self appointed leader of a movement whos support is somewhat unclear since they murdered children and gloated on stage, my opinion is they are no longer a consideration - JMO

He still has a lot of influence. Thankfully your opinion counts for diddly squat.

  3. You have a lot more trust in government than I do. I'll never trust or turn everything over to any government. Great Britain became great via capitalism and individual incentive. It became a wealthy nation but it's losing it after embracing socialism. Every decade it gets worse until the blind want to go all in for what has weakened it.

    Good luck. You'll need it.

you need to study Britsh history a bit more thoroughly, we got rich by building a decent navy and robbing every other <deleted>, then the industrial revolution, followed by a good dose of imperialism.

Corbyn could well be successful because he will get the young and all the other disaffected oddballs into the polling booths, that's what scares the crap out of the Tories. Murdoch's hounds are falling over themselves to write piece after piece on how JC is going to turn GB into some sort of 60's Cuba.

  4. wouldn't even bother, the new Nissan p*sses all over it. The forums Mitsu man - giddyup will be along soon to answer your query.

Don't have the current model. You who knows everything should know that.

Impeccable timing, I did, it was today's trick question.

  5. I use the tollway every week and have never been stopped. But then I don't speed (often)! The police are often there and you can usually spot the radar operator a couple of kilometres before the toll gate.

Doesn't matter if you spot the bloke in the box and keep your speed at the required 80 KPH, just about everyone gets hauled in at Don Mueng Tollway. When they have the farang in, the speech usually goes along the lines of "welcome to Thailand, these are the speed limits-----" Donation please.

If you speak reasonable Thai you can usually waffle your way out of it, in fact I have done pretty well the last few weeks with a host of excuses.

You must have the winning lottery tickets or the golden hoop not to have been clobbered.

Been thru literally 1000+ times and never been stopped. Do you have an out town license plate?

Not last time I looked, maybe because I wear a balaclava and tin hat when going to work.

  6. I can't recall a single thread here with someone complaining about the reliability of their Triton.

Thats cos the Ranger boys fill the forum moaning how crap their trucks are. Too early to tell with the new 2.4 engined Mitsu but I have read about some turbo lag probs, think it was mentioned too in a recent article in the - - - - with the new PJS.

Stick with the Vigo, the D4D is a legend.

Well i have been there dozens of times and its never ever happened to me .

Another b/sh*tt*r with the golden rivet. Every day I must be imagining all those cops at DM tollway.

  9. I read something in another topic about Gen Preecha Chan-o-cha, who is a brother of the PM, being given the post of Permanent Secretary of the Defense Ministry.

    * Note the emphasis on the word "permanent". biggrin.png

Is a very experienced army man and usually would have a fair idea. But only P secretary to the defense minister------(Yingluck WAS the defense minister) cheesy.gifcheesy.gifcheesy.gifcheesy.gifcheesy.gifcheesy.gif

Ginjock, what you know about the RTA can probably be written on the back of a stamp, and keep up the good work reminding us about the Shins.

  10. Just renewed by license yesterday in BKK.

    1) No notification is sent in the mail

    2) They still wanted a copy of my home-country license

    3) I needed a medical certificate (which I got from a walk-in clinic, stethoscope check only)

    4) I did not need to bring my own pictures

    5) exact same aptitude "tests" as before

    6) it cost 655 Bt

Was that for a new temporary license?

I changed in my 1 year temporary for the 5 (almost 6) year regular license. I think there was an additional charge added on (50bt?) for them having to update my new passport numbers onto the new license.

Yes, seems correct, except for the 50 baht.

When renewing 5 year you will not need medical BTW, but will have to watch vdo.

I mentioned in my post # 7, that I was charged 50 THB on each licence for the change of new passport number. It was on the receipt too.

  11. Don't underestimate the cops here, there not all stupid, especially the Highway patrol ones.

My wife's brother is doing 3 months in the monkey house after being stopped at a check point, no licence, no tax or insurance oh and some dodgy substance floating around in his blood stream, which sort of nailed it. Idjiot.

  12. I was not sure either for renewal of 5 year licence's so paid a visit to the transport office to find out what they actually wanted. A very nice lady informed me that for proof of residence, work permit or yellow book required.

Told her that I had neither, last time I used the Immigration letter, and she suggested I go and speak with the local Amphur. Well that was a complete waste of time & effort so dragged the wife along to the local tessabaan and they knocked up a letter stating where I live. Had to provide a lot of paperwork, thankfully the wife sorted most of it out and this is a small town so we knew most of the big cheeses in the teesabaan. Letter produced for and no fee.

Next day at the licence place, produced all paperwork, photocopies etc and money, no medical, watched a part of the video and they call you through for the two eye colour tests, brake test and line the sticks up test. Photos taken and then wait for licence.

Check your licence for correct spelling of name in English, they had put my surname down twice on both licences.

For having a new passport I was charged an extra 50 THB admin charge for change of passport number. All sorted and legal again for next 5 years.

This is upcountry , south Phetchabun so maybe slighly different to the cities etc.

  13. I don't say so, i know so and also know they don't always do so as I work with clients who are in debt management. But don't let that come in the way of a good Thai bash.

I won't, with you constantly on here with your tedious drivel defending the current regime.

Clients, don't make me laugh, most of your day is spent on TV, "but, but the Shins" or that other hobby horse of yours the Trat Red shoot out. Bye the way, how did the court case go?

  14. This is a man whose family are worth around a billion baht. clap2.gif

Always easy to talk when your well of yourself, but the guy has a point and foreigners always say this about Thais and nobody bats an eye. The general says it and its wrong ?

Many Thais do overspend.. but so do people in the West so the observation is correct.

yes, yes if you say so, but folk in the west largely do manage to pay off loans/credit cards every month.

  15. It can be tricky driving around in BKK depending on where you go and when i.e. parking and narrow streets but was great today driving South to HH/Cha Am.

and there TV 'ers we have one of Bangkok's major traffic issues, ****heads driving big macho trucks around narrow streets. General get on the case, big tax, or slap a charge on folk using them. More cycle lanes too, while your at it.

  16. Oh dear we're in the spotlight ! Is that called publicity, will it help our careers ?

Believe it or not the BIB actually went to the temple with the women and RE-CONSTRUCTED the ' crime '. cheesy.gif Impossible to make this nonsense up.

Re-constructed ? Actually that was not the way I read it -

"The pair will be granted bail but have to report to court tomorrow, after which police will escort them to the temple to perform an apology ritual."

I doubt if an apology ritual includes dancing around the temple in "skimpy red dresses". biggrin.png

Climb off your Leo stool and read some Thai newspapers or the other English language Bangkok paper. They were escorted back to the temple for an reenactment of their crime, all but this time wearing more appropriate clothing.

  17. If you are in Bangkok you could go here. http://https://www.bumrungrad.com/en/diabetes-care-center-treatment-bangkok-thailand

Most hospitals have capable Medical staff who will discuss your condition with you, my own local hospital has just opened a shiny new diabetes wing for regular testing/checkups etc.

Personally I wouldn't bother with a nutritionist, you can find what to eat/ drink and diets to follow on the web or here on TV.

I use this org for my gen, has a very good forum too. http://www.diabetes.co.uk/

  18. Couple of ok songs but was on tv too much with those crap shows, she wasn't funny unless you came from Liverpool and liked that other unfunny comedianTarbuck

    You miserable old b*gger.

Tame compared to some of the stuff written in today's Guardian obit piece, despicable some of it.

Apparently our Cilla was a Tory.
