I came here to the CM board to find out if anyone has taken the plane to and from CNX/BKK this month. I have to go down to BKK on a day trip to sign some property transfer forms.

Yes, in any rational place, I could Google this info, but, judging from the media here, the rules change by the day, by the province, and by the mood of the Governor.

I could start a new thread, but it does seem redundant as its basically the same questuon:  Can I currently (this week) move in and out of CM without being sequestered by paranoid health authorities? Is anyone doing the CNX/BKK shuttle  regularly and recently?

    Thanks.

Good question and good point where the heck is this info gathered by the government so we can know?

I'd suggest you consult the health authorities, seem to remember they are in Lamphun Road in Nong Hoi. Google is your friend, take along a fluent Thai speaker if you can.

Individual villages are being locked down, that just means they are taking temperatures and contact details at the entrances. AFAIK there's no bar to travel between the two provinces, unless you are in a CM hotspot.

I'm in muang CM so yes, in a hot spot. But I don't have a temp. That's good advice about the health office, thank you.

  3. Last visit at the ENT she went up my nose with a rubber hose....I mean the endoscope is it? Anyway, the little camera. It was kind of cool looking around in there and I finally found the calculator I have been missing since I was 7 years old. All kidding aside, she did look up there and well, didn't find any polyps that I can recall. That was probably a year ago. She did give me antibiotics for an infection and it cleared. One doctor sometime back was impressed enough with my deviated septum to call me out on it. I don't remember how the convo ended, however. I guess probably was up to me if I wanted to pursue repairing it. For what it's worth, if I pull outward on my face on either side of my nose, I do breathe a lot easier. Perhaps it's the same for everyone. It's also true that I can feel stuffed up/swollen on both sides though there is nothing in my nose. So that might indicate some kind of allergy. I've just never noticed any cause and effect pattern. It seems random. I am not keen on doing the operation but it would be nice to breathe and stop getting the infections. I will do the legwork, you can be sure. Thank you for the input. It's very helpful.

  4. Indeed, Sheryl, thanks for the tip. The sinus issues could be due to the smoke, yes. My breathing is def affected by the deviation so maybe I have two separate issues going on. I have not looked into allergies, well not specifically. I have been plenty of times to the ENT as my nose is always running a little bit but just watery stuff not thick mucus. Always sniffling. The last time the ENT just said maybe that's the way I roll. I forget the term, asymptomatic runny nose. But it would be nice to breathe clearly if that is something that can be addressed. Never probed it in depth.

  5. Thanks people, much appreciated! I will have a look at Sheryl's suggestion. I did read a lot of good things online about it but also about some who went through it and it resolved nothing. That would be a disappointment especially it it's very uncomfortable and big bucks.

  6. Does anyone have insight into having this done in Chiang Mai, to fix a deviated septum and (possibly) associated sinus infections? Where? Cost? I will do some consultation first with doctors, surely. I have a deviated septum and have recurring sinus infections and restricted breathing. Not sure if the surgery is correct for me but interested in doing the research. Thank you.

  7. So I'm just back from CM immigration and I did my first 90 report ever going through the drive through. All good. There was a bit of a line of cars so had to wait perhaps 20/30 minutes but I just had my passport and a single copy of the TM47 form and that sufficed.

One question: Am I supposed to have a new stamp in my passport or is it just the TM47 receipt? I looked through the passport but did not find a new stamp.. Thought I'd ask again here before searching again. It's so full of stamps and pages I might have missed it.

    Cheers!

Do not have to go on that day...can go anytime 14 days before up until that date or even 7 days after but new 90 days starts from day you go.

Passport/TM6/Visa/extension copies. TM30 if you have copy

No cost to do 90 day report

Very kind of you, thank you. Can I use the drive-thru, do you know? "Extension copies" do you mean copies of the passport pages with that extension slip attached?

  9. Because everyone likes to answer the same question again and again I'll hazard my repeat of an old question... Thanks in advance: My first ever 90-day report for O visa based on marriage is coming up. Piece of paper stapled in passport says "notify again on 19 April". Do I need to go on that day and that day only? What do I need to bring/do/pay? Can I do the drive through? I wonder if Covid or Songkran is going to affect this...

One of the reasons I ask here is I believe a first ever 90 day report is sometimes a bit different in its rules or requirements, did I not read that somewhere?

Thank you kindly, happy new year and clean air day!

  10. They are def Akha. I remember a shop had a couple that were loaded with silver coins from India, just loaded. I think the price at the time was 70,000 baht. This was probably about 10 years ago. Those metal balls, I used them many a time on bags and such. They can still be bought in the market. They are not silver but they're not plastic, either.

  11. Right? They are really "beautiful" in person, to a hardware geek such as myself. These were for sale in Chiang Mai Plastic, next to the rolls of vinyl sheeting, that cheap stuff you cover a table with to keep liquids off it and for easy clean up. CM Plastic is not a shop for the applications you mention, as I understand it, so I think it must be for something else. I should have asked and maybe I will go back and do so! I'm thinking something about food/restaurant usage as I saw some references on the internet in that regard. Perhaps it's a good cutting surface? I would think it would damage easily, however. Protection on the top of a glass case in a shop? Hmm..... Or on top of glass shelving? That could be...

Typically used for vapor/air barriers for glazing. In the US one can buy adhesive sheets or non-adhesive.

Thanks for the response. This is very expensive stuff, however. 1 meter x I think 1.5 meters tall is 500 baht, for the 1 mm thickness. And 3mm thickness is 1500 plus. Seems too pricey to use as a vapor barrier on a house if it's to cover all wall surfaces. YOu mean like Tyvek? I read something about it being used in food production when I did some google research but I'm not sure how. I'm just curious as the product piqued my interest. When you see it first hand, it's pretty cool stuff.

  13. Hi folks, I'm just curious and posting this here because found in CM. I was in Chiang Mai plastics the other day buying some vinyl covering for a table. You know, that cheap stuff that is waterproof and so easy to pick up spills, etc... They also had some rolls of silicone sheeting, 150 tall. 1 mm is 500 plus baht a meter and a 3mm thickness over 1500 baht. Expensive stuff. I'm curious what this silicone sheeting is used for. Anyone know what the application is? I didn't know silicone was so pricey.

    Cheers, Bamboozled.

  14. You can refill them or get the external tanks but the cartridges still wear out and start printing funky. The only remedy is a new 900 baht cartridge. At least, that's what the shop tells me now and again.
