  1. apple service, even when one pays extra for apple care plus, seems to be on the avoidance game. 'Send us an email' 'Go on forums' I expect to be able to talk 24 hours in phone support . And get worldwide service on hardware. Sony is better. Or maybe after sales service for all electronics has fallen from the nineties.

Actually I've always gotten great service from Apple. Never sent anything to them about the mail program because I actually would probably never use it much anyway.

  2. First, STOP STOCKPILING RICE!!!!!!!!

Second, Clearly separate any rice that is one year or older and spray it with food dye so no one can sell it as new. This may restore trust in the market that new crop rice is actually new crop rice.

Third, Sell the fresh rice at competitive prices

Fourth, turn the old rice into ethanol and/or animal feedstock.

Fifth, help the rice farmers to transition to other crops. 40% of the land rice is grown on is not suitable for growing rice. Plant crops that are suitable for the soil and weather conditions. Forget about Thailand ever becoming a World leader in rice exports. For half he money being spent on the rice scheme, the government could modernize Thai farmers and end their manual labor, never-ending poverty. Own up to the losses.

Sir, your post is far too sensible!

  3. Are you being serious here?

If there was a huge fight in front of your house would you drag the one injured guy in, go out to help? Or call 911? Granted we all want to help but these technical school guys pick teams very quickly and show no mercy when they start fighting.
Ok but your second sentence saying he probably deserved this assault is somewhat harsh. Also I would open my door to someone who needed help. Maybe foolish but I would still do it.
I suppose I could have worded it differently. I've just seen so many of these tit for yay fights, I tend to make assumptions.

  4. Technical school brawls - happen all the time. I'm sure he did something to somebody to get them after him. Also, letting him in the shop would only invite the other thugs to bash the door in and target the shop as a foe. He had help almost immediately anyway, I don't understand why they are making this so sensational. Oh yeah, Coconut. Plus putting GRAPHIC!!! will generate a lot more adclicks!

From what I could see, the medics and other people were there to help lost immediately.

Well "tominbkk", your post makes you sound like the type of clown that is not needed in Thailand. Hope you go back to where you came from as quickly as possible.

Top marks to Coconut on their treatment of this story!

Don't blame me if you can't handle reality here
  6. But, I thought it had all moved beyond Thaksin, yet here we are preparing for his imminent dictatorship. Sad times for Thailand indeed. Hopefully he keeps to his word and doesn't take revenge on his political enemies(lol).

He's a scary man with a scary plan. His Chinese puppemasters will be gleeful though.

  7. Homemade pizza....pepperoni. Nice thin crust.

Big tossed green salad with homemade vinegar estate.

Homemade hummus with carrot and celery sticks for dipping.

A fairly cheap Shiraz to wash it down.

My other two meals of the day were Thai, thank you.

Hmm. Sounds tasty and healthy too. Very pleased to see you noted the other two meals were Thai. Wouldn't want you contravening the 'integration' rules set by the self-appointed Thai Cultural Integration Police, would we? BTW Tom, did you use canned chick peas in that hummus?

Haha, yes. The last few days I have had all Thai food! But it is the weekend and I am making American style BBQ chicken and ribs tonight, and have a crockpot of chili going! I will also probably make an American style potato salad, my dad's recipe. And had a lovely cheddar, green pepper and avocado omelette for breakfast! So this weekend several Western meals planned. Hopefully my Western to Thai ratio of meals will be enough though to appease the aforementioned TCIP. smile.png

For my hummus I usually just buy a can of of the chickpeas, though you can get them dry at Foodland for cheap and cook up a whole boatload of them (makes too much for me, I don't like that many chickpeas floating around at once. Both seem to work great. I get my Tahini from Foodland as well, about 220 Baht for a jar that lasts for at least 8-10 batches of hummus. Also, I discovered that you can sub raw zucchini for the chickpeas and you can make a 'hummus' that is nearly identical in taste...sounds weird I know but it is true. I make that one almost more than the regular hummus...good way to get the veggies in! Zucchini is quietly becoming my favorite vegetable. Foodland is the only place I see it, they got some lovely ones there.

No, I don't work for Foodland, but it is the best supermarket hands down.

  8. You said it your article. vendors have a "meager budget" if you don't like it go eat at a 5 star restaurant, there's plenty of them. Or you could always get a cab to the airport. smile.png

Part of the reason you came here was for cheap food etc, now your complaining about it, time to go.

    Wrong!

As my missus says "Street food is for Thais who cannot afford anything better. It is not for Falangs."

I need to show her where the good street food is then. Haha. Meanwhile, she can go on convincing you to got to Sizzler for dinner instead in her beguiling way!

Yes, I would imagine that some Falangs think that they could do that.

    Sizzler - pah bah.gif

I my be a 'falang' but odds are I have lived in BKK longer than her and know much more about it and where the good street eats are then she does!

"No eat street food - only for poor Thai. We go to Paragon! Noodle bowl only 300 Baht!"
