  1. Patients don't escape and get rounded up / sent back, that's what you do to prisoners.... Of course they're not allowed to return home to isolate because their freedom has been revoked = they're prisoners.
  2. Interesting, just last week it was announced that this same Japanese bank teamed up with Coinbase (Nasdaq: COIN) as their banking partner for the launch of Coinbase Japan Looks like Mitsubishi UFJ are rapidly expanding their crypto related operations.
  3. You know, when I'm ill I tend to not feel like doing anything, never mind 'fleeing' Makes me wonder just how ill these prisoners are
  4. What's about to unfold over the next month or two is the very definition of the word failure. Best to watch this spectacle from a safe distance.
  5. I wonder if it's up to the governor in each province to make up their own rules?
  6. Yes, you did read that and it's what was said. It's wrong though, there's always a way to go back. This is the price they're now paying for enforcing 'zero covid', there was always a toll to pay during this pandemic - they delayed it a while and are now very far behind the rest of the world. Speaking of the rest of the world - lets not think for one minute that this is ending elsewhere - it's not. I see no reason whatsoever why winter 2021 will be much if any different to winter 2020 - anywhere.
  7. Believe it or not there's still people out there who think there's going to be a high season this winter ???? There's not.....
  8. In the UK this approach was referred to as the 'herd immunity' approach.
  9. Sure, that's what the headline says but this is what the actual article says : So here you are telling people to read the article when you clearly hadn't read it yourself. Something's wrong with the article, theoldgit mentions the headline contradicts the article - that's right - it does. So which one is correct? It's not possible to determine this from reading the article. Don't forget where you are.....this is Thailand - so for now I'm working on the assumption that whichever system they go with will be the most ludicrous and unworkable version possible to imagine - tests for everyone, every time and all the time.
  10. Perhaps, because if it's not then it's going to kill it. There are stories about large chains remaining closed due to the restrictions. My personal take - it won't last more than a week or two if the customer tests are required.
  11. So a large group of people haven't been socially distancing at all which directly resulted in this largest of local outbreaks - that is very clear. Why didn't they report the source of the extra 100's of infections? It's well known information but I won't mention it here at the moment as I don't have the source to hand.
  12. Both vaccination AND negative tests to enter a restaurant = permanent closures en masse. The quote above is from the full linked article....
  13. I hear Taiwan recently launched a new vaccine, I wonder if that will eventually be made available here in Thailand?
  14. This list is pathetic - they plan to lock everyone up who knows a kid who became infected? With this plan those schools will remain closed forever.
  15. Also they may have a lot more immunity 'in the bank' than they realise due to last years outbreak...
  16. I'm not going to worry about this too much, they will all have been vaccinated and / or infected within the next 6 months or so. Infection detection rates are a joke, I would suggest people ignore them completely, they bear no resemblance to reality at all. I'm going to stay mostly in the house for the rest of the year doing whatever it is that I usually do minus any trips out for beers at local bars which is no great sacrifice. I strongly suspect Thailand will gain most of its immunity the old fashioned way - through infection.
  17. It doesn't matter, the world will go on believe it or not with or without your participation.
  18. The read list exists for one reason only and it's not about case numbers, it's about new variants of COVID. When new variants are detected they attempt to keep them out for as long as possible. New variants have been detected in Thailand already, apparently they're inconsequential so far but they don't appear to be taking risks these days. They will continue to mutate - this is why Thailand was added to the red list.
  19. It slows it down, that's about it. At this stage they want to slow it down. Why? I would imagine that it's all to do with reacting to what's inevitably going to come after a few months instead of a few weeks. It's still coming, regardless of the quarantines, and yes - we're talking about full national lockdowns in response to new VOC outbreaks here.
  20. Well that video isn't going away, ever. That's the difference here, it's on video.
  21. Sometimes I visit a restaurant if I have visitors, normally once or twice a year, they may stay for a month so that's multiple visits. No visitors, no restaurants and I'm certainly not getting visitors from abroad these days. I like a few beers down some pub every now and again (like once or twice every couple of weeks) but since they closed all the bars I haven't missed it at all so for all I care they can close it all down, open it up, whatever they want - I literally don't give a <deleted> and even when they do open it up - if there's hoops to jump through - I won't be bothering.
  22. I have a feeling it will be different this time, this video evidence will be famous throughout the entire world. Everyone will know what they're all about now.
