  1. I'm still staying non resident until at least 2029, maybe 2030 - depends on how I structure my income and holdings nearer to that time.
  2. You know, each of these banks makes up their own set of rules which they use to comply with whatever greater set of underlying laws exist. They all do it differently in their 'compliance' departments. Some 'require' it and others don't, depends on the circumstances. The problem here is likely with your foreign bank from where you're sending the money. Not all banks are the same, if you're in Thailand of course then it might not be so easy to open a new back 'back home' and if they're asking for a tax id it means you told them you moved to Thailand which could create other issues. If they haven't halted domestic transfers in your country then I suggest moving the money inside your country to a more friendly bank or transfer service and proceeding from there.
  3. Maybe, but it would have mentioned that in the article wouldn't it?
  4. How about they just do their job properly? No?
  5. You're doing something wrong then. Send USD directly to a the Thai bank, never send it as Baht - that will cost you a load. Also it's only really worth it for at least a few thousand dollars. The more you send the better. Suggest $3k per send and only do it in USD, if your bank in the US is charging insane fees for wires then change bank. The actual cost of doing a wire is just a few dollars and if you bank with a major bank there is generally no intermediary bank - it's direct from bank to bank, For example Chase to Kasikorn - not going to be a problem
  6. I use an international wire transfer (SWIFT), yes, it can take 2 to 3 days - but I've also had it arrive within 1 day
  7. It's called laziness, they should have just gone and arrested him if they wanted to arrest him. No need for cloak and dagger operations. He's now stamped out of the country as this arrest happened airside, they like to make maximum problems for anyone arrested in this way don't they. Did they stamp him back in or will he now be charged with additional immigration related issues?
  8. About 5 minutes ago, she's a Thai, as we're in Cambodia right now we're both foreigners, don't understand a word of it - neither of us 🤣
  9. Well he is an ex-president so he can do all the interviews he wants. He could also cause a lot of damage but that won't make any difference, he's out of the game now. Is he out for revenge, I wouldn't be too happy to be yanked from the job - even though he was clearly too old.
  10. I just order a few hundred dollars worth of these very few years - from amazon.com - I don't care about the cost : Each cartridge last me many weeks, I don't shave that often, once, sometimes twice a week. Buying a few years worth in a single hit (price wise) does the job for me. I keep a bunch of them in Thailand and Cambodia where I maintain residences.
  11. Hold the ALT key with your left hand and type the number 35 while still holding down the ALT key at the same time as you type 35 Then out of nowhere a # character appears Now here's the kicker - it only works with the numeric keypad at the right side of the keyboard - not the numbers across the top of the keyboard.....which is strange but that's the deal! So if you have a laptop that DOESN'T have the keypad on the right side there is another way This is what ChatGPT says about the on screen keyboard : ✅ Method 1: Quickest Way (Run Command) Press Windows + R to open the Run dialog. Type: osk Press Enter. This immediately opens the On-Screen Keyboard. ✅ Method 2: From Settings (Windows 10 or 11) Press Windows + I to open Settings. Go to: Accessibility (or Ease of Access in Windows 10). Click Keyboard on the sidebar. Toggle On-Screen Keyboard to On. ✅ Method 3: Via Start Menu Click the Start Menu (Windows icon). Type On-Screen Keyboard. Click the result. Method 1 works for me and I see the # above the 3, whether this works for you or not is another thing but give it a go. This is the on screen keyboard (osk) : There is another way as well - you can open notepad, go to google.co.uk and lookup 'hash character' - copy and paste it into the notepad and then construct the full password and copy / paste the whole thing into the wifi login.... One of or a combination of the above should get you going.....
  12. Don't fly out of Phuket, go from the main airport in Bangkok, the one who's name I can not spell so I'll just call it BKK
  13. Good luck with that on a 'Personal Account'.....
  14. No, they clearly don't care about the Skype brand, it's Teams now and that's the end of it. It's all about video chat, I never use that so it's useless to me - but there's many tens of millions of people who do use it. They had two services offering a similar service and went with Teams as the newer iteration. There will be no regret, it's a tiny fraction of a percentage on their balance sheet and nobody will miss it at all, nobody at Microsoft anyway. Also this will create a lot of demand in the VOIP/SIP phone service industry - a completely out of the blue bonus for that bunch of mostly charlatans and MLM type resellers.
  15. It won't be a war. Boots on the ground is a 20th century concept.
  16. Yeah, there are booths near the food court in the basement - saw it on a youtube video. What accounts are you closing? Are you going to be carrying a large amount of cash with you?
  17. Or worse - it does both and you can add people in and then when the Skype import hit the same people were there twice. I believe the longer you had an account with them the more fragmented the import process was. Mine was a really old Skype account - like when they first opened it up I signed up within a few months.
  18. Sure, follow the process. Any top picks for a DEM candidate who might win. There will be no incumbent so it's all wide open!
  19. Voting people approaching 80 years of age into the presidency was never a great idea. I don't know any 80 year olds who are in peak performance mode. Not one, ever. The oldest person ever elected President was Biden until Trump won again - now he holds the record. I think when Vance runs next time around which I'm sure he will it will be a nice reset back to someone a little more youthful, his opponent would also hopefully be a lot younger. A job like the presidency is not suited to someone who should be retired. It's a younger mans game.
  20. Yes, those cold cases where they find some small piece of DNA which couldn't be matched before. They were married, so DNA isn't going to cut it. New witnesses after all this time? Circumstantial at best. Unless they have something on video of course.
  21. Yes, I've read about that, I think it's end of year or early next year some time.
  22. The "de minimis" exemption for anything coming from Thailand should be set to the exact same amount Thailand uses. I seem to remember an announcement some time last year that they will be charging taxes on anything worth even 1 Baht when it enters Thailand - which sounds fair. And sales tax should be added in the state of the recipient - just like VAT is applied to all of Thailand on any imports, plus the shipping cost. So a 3 cent allowance seems very generous to me.
  23. Do you have to 'declare' a movie prop because it looks like something it's not?
  24. So they had no evidence of this in the past but now they do have evidence of what exactly? Did they find some missed cctv footage out on the lake? I have to wonder if having life insurance is now an automatic murder charge when someone dies, there had better be some solid evidence in this case or the life insurance industry is going to be in big trouble. Edit: We should bear in mind that if they had any evidence prior to this then they would have simply asked Thailand to return him which they would have done by cancelling his visa and putting him onto a plane like they often do.
