If you have had a previous ED from anywhere in the previous 12 months, you cannot get another one in Vientiane. You basically need to wait 12 months from any previous ED visa before applying there.

Is this new? I received a back-to-back education Visa about two weeks ago from Vientiane with no issues at all. (First year combat school, this year Thai language school)

  2. Received a tourist visa in penang a couple of weeks ago via Jim. There was no requirement for a return ticket to your home country, he just suggested making it to Singapore or somewhere further than say Penang. This seemed to be somewhat based on how many visas you had in your passport already however (I only had one and a 30 day entry). Also needed accommodation proof, such as booking.com printout (which can be cancelled) or letter from the person you are staying with. Very straightforward if your passport isn't already loaded with tourist visas.

  3. Have a valid single entry tourist visa but want to enter Thailand on a 30 day entry stamp initially instead of using it (want to use the tourist visa the next time I enter which is before the visa use by date.)

I'm presuming they don't force you to use the visa and it won't become invalid? I won't write the visa number in the arrival card obviously. Anyone have experience of doing this?

    Thanks

  4. $349 = 11014 baht. 16900/11014 = 1.53 so 53% mark up is my math.

Regardless, fairly crap battery life is a deal breaker for me. Needs a 3K bat at least like the g2

I guess my point was that it is not possible to purchase the GNex 5 for $349, one must add shipping and handling, and any applicable sales tax - and if re-shipping to Thailand, add the re-shipping fees and any potential VAT/Duty/Excise. So your maths are not particularly valid.

Agree that if you use LTE the bigger battery may be necessary. And if you want to run year-old software (4.2), need a uSD card and need all the LG crap-ware, you should buy the G2, especially given the minimal 3,000 baht price difference.

The comparison is being made between the price you can get it for in the states, and the price you can get it here. And technically you can get it for 349 in the states if you price match at best buy (free shipping) and live in a tax free state.

No SD card on the g2 but u do get the 32gb model for 19900 so has to be considered better value overall. Main thing that puts me off is the ugly LG UI (tho functional and guess u can rom it anyway) and the cheapo feeling hardware (ugly shiny plastic back)

Shame they had to cripple the N5 with a sub-par battery (for me) else I would have bought. Will continue with the gnex for now which still does the job fine tbh

  6. ^^^ Dude, awesome breakdown. Exactly the info I wanted. even gave me a pricepoint!!

    NICELY DONE!thumbsup.gif

Would look at the lenovo s920 at 9690 baht - http://www.tohome.com/product_detail.aspx?product_id=20130700097&Product_name=Lenovo%20Seine%20S920%20(2%20SIM)

quad core processor instead of dual for more grunt, bigger battery, and slimmer. Has dual sim and 720p screen too.

Lenovo respected computer brand and has android 4.2 instead of 4.1.1, but no idea which one updates quicker

  7. So basically if I get into a fight for whatever reason, and I happen to be winning that fight, I can legally have my brains blown out. Goodness me.

Legal or illegal is meaningless to the guy getting his brains blown out. Whenever you get in a street fight you can't count on everyone fighting fair or that you won't get seriously injured or killed. It's just not worth fighting. This is where Trayvon's age and experience probably did come into play. As the texts and videos on his phone showed, he was no stranger to schoolyard fights where someone gets their butt kicked and that's the end of it. At least until they meet again. If anything positive comes from this tragedy, hopefully some other young men will think twice before fighting a stranger. Sadly, the events since the verdict seem to show that the lesson learned was to gang up on strangers instead of one-on-one fights.

It's very meaningful to the guy pulling the trigger tho isn't it. In the real world fights happen all the time. They just aren't usually a problem unless cretins are armed to the teeth.

The only lesson I see is you wanna be the one packing the gun. Enjoy Wild West America

  9. There was no evidence that Zimmerman pushed him.

    never said there was

The key to this case was whether pounding his head into the pavement reasonably caused him to fear for his life. Just hitting someone would not result in a reasonable belief of great bodily injury or death.

Let them hit you in the face a couple of times. This can quite easily cause death. Hell, bang your own head against the concrete a couple of times if u feel like it.

You saying if Zimmerman was only getting smashed in the face and not having his head hit against concrete he is suddenly guilty? Guess we'll never know but I highly doubt it

And what a hilariously easy way to commit murder - walk up to someone, push and antagonize them, until they land a couple of blows, then blow their brains out. Goodness me.

I wonder if the machete wielding taxi driver walks in the good ol' US of A? It did look like the Farang was gonna give him a handy beating so self defense surely? Oh but perhaps you are only allowed to be packing guns there and not machetes? Goodness me

  11. Just like the English nurse didn't kill herself over transferring a phone call, this guy is unlikely to have killed himself solely over gf issues.

People generally kill themselves because they have massive depression. It's a mental health issue and affects some much more than others.

It boggles my mind people passing judgement on these poor souls who feel they are left with no choice. You have no clue what has happened in his life, you have no clue of the chemical make up of his brain and his predisposition to depression. Basically, you have no fookin clue

  12. I have lived here 12 years and haven't really had problems until about two or three months ago. Now it seems that maybe 50% of the taxis i stop don't want to take me or don't want to use the meter.

Same. been here a few years and while it's always been an issue to get taxis around 'spicy' hours or heavy traffic routes, only in the last few months have i noticed them regularly declining short 40 baht fares with no traffic. It's pretty weird.
