  1. <deleted> is your point heho?

If you are saying we cannot for sure say there is enough evidence that he will be 100% be found guilty or may get off on a technicality then yeah ok.

If you are saying from what we know at this point it is anything less than extremely likely he would be found guilty then you are a little slow (or more likely just arguing for the sake of it.)

If you are saying he likely didn't commit the crime (surely not) then you should be institutionalized

  2. Right, heho.

First you insinuate nothing reported in this case is reliable, then you go on to discuss what you have heard reported. Why bother.

And wowee hadn't heard that about the 7-11 knife being close but not at the scene. Pretty clear to me now that Aldhouse only considered the murder from a couple of hundred metres away but the tooth fairy swooped in and committed it before he had a chance.

  3. I hope the englishman gets off. As if is a fair fight boxer aginst marine. Doesn't say much for the u.s militery

At the end of the day there is no. Real proof that he done it. Jut a fight that went wrong. If the american provoked hhim then is that really fair that he should get in trouble. If he gets tried in england is that unnder thai law or english law or american law

    You sound really smart

  4. Clearly one could say the same of the Microsoft-Nokia relationship, but maybe this guy is clueless?

Like Jobs is clueless with his 'reality distortion field' ?

Not clueless, just spinning it how he likes.

Nokia shares up about 20% after the google announcement btw

  5. I have never seen anyone here with a Nokia smartphone, I mean in the last three years. I do see Nokia smartphones by the hundreds in those sad used mobile phone display cases in the markets, selling for satangs on the baht. A bit reminiscent of the "Island of Misfit Toys" actually.

You have NEVER seen anyone with a Nokia smartphone in 3 years?? lool, do you live in a cave and never leave it?

  6. I agree, the N8 has probably been the most successful Nokia Smartphone here recently, maybe selling through to a few hundred end-users (fewer than 1,000).

You pull that figure out of your bum lad?

First 800 customers that pre-ordered the N8 got some free goodies. I tried to pre-order it and they had sold out of the freebies.

  7. Doesn't bother me very much, I'm not a fanboi :whistling:

You do realize that your multiple posts denigrating Android and Apple, while repeatedly proselytizing the benefits of a phone which you've had for 30 days is the very definition of a fanboi. I'm guessing not.

Mango (MSFT) and See-Ray (NOK) could cure cancer, slice bread and cook your dinner. It just doesn't matter as both companies are too massive, slow-moving, complacent to react to the market. They expect the market to react to them. Additionally there is not enough revenue to share between QCOM, NOK (and other HW makers) and MSFT. I mean, is this the first time any of you have seen this situation?

It is beyond amazing what AAPL and GOOG have accomplished in the mobile connectivity/communications markets in such a short time. (Samsung has also performed amazingly well.) They've actually done different things, but have ended up in (almost) the same place. Larry Page and Steve Jobs are amazing. (I am a long-term AAPL shareholder but own only an iPod.)

Anyone who doesn't see the market potential for tablets, by applying their personal preferences and ignoring the billion or so people who will eventually have a tablet, and not a netbook, are myopic, at best. I understand you might not need a tablet, or see the value, but this tablet market will be huge. And does NOK have any tablet plans? Of course not, because they think in the past. They very idea of a tablet is so foreign to them, it shouldn't be by the way, that they will have missed a ginormous market opportunity.

Well I disagree about Nokia and MS. They have been complacent in the past but I'm sure they are both more aware than anyone they can ill afford to be now. Nokia is still well ahead of the curve on the hardware front, and it's not like WP7 development isn't moving at a fast rate with a pretty novel and sexy UI to begin with. The mango updates are rather significant. Yes they are playing catch up but that's only because they started late (and by started I mean seriously started with WP7.) Market share is poor but so was androids for a long time. With noks outreach it's certainly about to climb

From a personal perspective, I love the idea of top notch nok hardware with WP7. WP7 is way slicker than android IMO and mango updates makes the functionality competitive. Doesn't have all the apps right now but they are coming, and the ones there already are generally slick.

As for tablets sure there is a large market, I'm just not included in it currently

  8. I'm no symbian fan but the new Symbian Belle is actually pretty nice. It's amazing what a new coat of paint and a few nice transitions can do.

If you aren't a huge apps guy then N8 isn't a bad phone with Belle. Too late to save Nokia's fortunes of course. They are all in on WP7, which I still think they can do alright with.

I've never seen how a tablet fits in with my laptop, ereader and phone either. Can't replace any of them.

  9. Hopefully the government will launch a crackdown on these drug users

Anyone doubting the dangers should google lyle alzado

maybe a sweep of the local gyms would be a start

Lyle Alzado died of brain cancer, and there is no medical link between Steroids and brain cancer.

Why not a crackdown on alcohol abusers. Oh, because that's deemed legal...

  10. So, finally I got mine ;-). I returned only yesterday on a crappy Bus from Chiang Saen, so I first had to take a nap, and it was already around 6 pm. So not much time to shop around. Went straight to Phra Ram 9, as I wanted to go to TescoLotus anyway. Went up right to the 4th floor into the ITmall, as I knew from prior purchases, that the have the VAT refund. They had also a stock of SG2, to my surprise it was already discounted to 17900 Thb. I cashed out also the VAT already. (1171 THB). So I got it for 16729 THB. At the moment a great deal indeed.

GT-I9100LKATHL (whatever that means in the end)

That's a good deal indeed. Nice work.

Do you mean IT City on the fourth floor? Was there briefly today and didn't see any discount advertised?

Is that the version which supports true 3g?

  11. "the original story said the old guy chased the insurance guy after he got cut off then crashed into him. after that the old guy jumped out and started yelling at the other guy"

Err no, it doesn't say that at all actually.

You have made multiple assumptions based on the fact the old guy was angry. You think the other guy wasn't angry too? Sure sounds like it seeing as he pulled out his pocket knife and stabbed the old fella to death...

  12. Had a brief wander around MBK today. Looked in 3 shops. 2 of them had them all packaged up in the box with the ais branding on them. They confirmed they were the thai ais version. Quoted 18500 at one and flat 18000 at the other. The third one quoted me 18900 and when I asked whether it was for true or ais she said it was for samsung. They are all over mbk anyway so don't think you will have any trouble there (although can't confirm the true version is)

  13. I guess my moderate usage would be 2-3 hours surfing total, using 3g and wifi. Checking/replying mail and whatsapp throughout the day. The odd bit of GPS use. Don't really play games, but maybe the odd game of chess or other apps. Few hours of music during the day. Couple of calls, few text messages.

Something along those lines I'd want to last a day happily. Possible?

I guess it's easy to replace the battery which is a pro over my n8 as well.

  14. You can use additional bands if they are not enabled by entering *#2263# in the keypad.<br />Use the left button to bring up the menu to go back/end/key input/select/help.<br />

Do you mean you can change from 850mhz 3g band to 900mhz 3g band by doing this?

Would be great if you could change between these bands doing that or switching roms

  15. I hear so many different reports of the battery life online it's hard to get a gauge. Anything from 6 hours with moderate usage to 2 days with moderate usage. Basically I want it to last a day with moderate usage but that sounds touch and go, heavy usage forget about it?

"As it has a 1400 mA battery I doubt the SGS2 will be much different for this, and I don't see a solution until there is another serious breakthrough in battery technology, like when the LiIon battery replaced NiCa batteries"

Problem is they seem to have an obsession (samsung anyway) with making phones as thin as humanly possible. I'd prefer a couple more millimeters on the SGS2 and a bigger battery.

  16. I'm considering getting one. Only concerns are battery life and the 3g bands. How do you guys find the battery life? I guess the 850mhz True version is the one to get in BKK for 3g?I'm coming from the n8 which is pentaband, and a decent battery life, so still kinda on the fence.

  17. Actually app collectors will be fine, Meego is shipping with Alien Dalvik which means it can run Andriod app's plus all the apps currently in the OVI store.

Wait for the next Windows based Nokia with Mangos O/S.

Technically the N9 seems to be fine, but all apps collectors won't be happy. Remains the questions why many people do need tons of apps (I use like 10 extra on the IOS and HD7).

By the way the HTC HD7 is well priced now!

I'll believe this when I see it. It has been promised for the N900 for a long time and never eventuated. It's also unlikely that you'll just be able to install alien dalvik and magically run android apps. Will prob need support from Nokia and/or devs.

In saying that, if it does pan out. I'm buying the n9

  18. Yes, it is...

What about the Nokia N8...big adverts but nobody stocks it in Bangkok. Anybody got experience of it. Its taken me 10 years to understand Nokia technology so changing it i phone or black is a night mare sceario which woud be a project for the twylight years of my life.

N8 is good phone, nikster is apple salesman, runs a cult or something so for him there is only one option. Anyways N8 has the best camera second to none at the moment. HDMI out and decent battery life. Not to mention free voice navigation without the need of data connection. All of the issues OP had with iPhone just works out of the box in Nokia phones. No need to download or pay for any applications. If apps are your thing you have them available as apple and google.

Reason why N8 is difficult to find is that they sold out in couple of days. Even in europe people are still waiting new batch to hit the stores.

Also use bit common sense when reading and comparing specs. People are fast to repeat that N8 has slower processor than new androids etc. But fail to mention that N8 has two processors. Also remember that N8 and iPhone 4 are totally different price range. N8 should be compared to same price range androids.

+1. Never gets old when my mates whip out there iphone at night to take some crap grainy pic, then boom out comes the real phone to take a real photo. And when we were driving around aus recently guess who was using maps for navigation...

Symbian is a very powerful, full featured OS so dunno what nikster is going on about - certainly has more functionality than iOS. I think when people talk about the OS they actually mean the UI which is getting a full overhaul next year.Which will be more like putting lipstick on an attractive woman - HAWT.

  19. .. music free for life ...

How do you hook that up? Bought one recently but didn't see anything about that.

N8 is a whole lot of phone/camera/offline gps for 16500 baht i must say. Great buy.

Only issue is no portrait qwerty but that is coming shortly. Default browser sucks as well but can just use opera mini or mobile so no issue (and browser will be updated with the portrait qwerty)
