  1. One thing though, these relatively empty airports and lounges are relaxing. I'm okay with the COE if they can make it QR code based. Sometimes you stay in a place without a business center.
  2. Bangkok and Chonburi condo juristic just sent a DM through the condo app that pool and fitness are open today with limits to the number of users.
  3. Ran into the same thing with Korean Air on my way back from Guam last week. Took them about 10 minutes to determine that a Fit to Fly cert wasn't required, even had guys on the concourse before boarding just randomly asking for PCR test results. To be expected in some measure nowadays... lots of different rules that are rolled out, tweeked, cancelled with varying levels of updates.
  4. UK passport holders don't need a visa to go to the US. Google says all you need is an ESTA. So you're good to go as long as you aren't flying from a restricted country. DYDD of course.
  5. The simple yes or no days are gone for now. In short, almost any in the following group can go to the US who are: U.S. citizens, permanent residents, holders of a valid U.S. visas/ESTA. You just need: a (within 72 hours of departure) COVID-19 negative test certificate and CDC Attestation form (the airline check in counter will have this for you if you didn't print it out for yourself in advance). And then there is the one major exception (that's soon to be lifted... Not sure what date exactly): you cannot (unless you're a US citizen) have been present in these countries within 14 days before your planned arrival in the US: China, Iran, Schengen area countries, United Kingdom, Ireland, Brazil, S. Africa, or India. *with a few exceptions afforded to spouses, children, and parents of US citizens So basically if you're inquiring as to whether Thais can go.... Sure, as long as they have a valid visa or happen to hold an additional passport that doesn't require a US visa.
  6. Yeah, I chose AQ over Sandbox as well, even though we have a place in Phuket. More of a hassle to get the house liveable again/mothball it again, pack up and then fly back up to Bangkok and drive down to Chonburi where we're based. Also didn't appreciate the compulsory insurance (not in terms of amount but on principle: surely showing existing insurance and financial statements should be an option). p.s. Balconies and hotels that provide exercise gear are big +'s
  7. TG debt to equity is something like 22-23x. Compare to the most indebted US airline (flip flops between United and Delta) at around 2x. It's a shame as they should be a total cash cow because of where they are based.
  8. To reduce the number of drunk drivers on the road when children were getting out of school. The same for banning alcohol sales at gas stations. The key word was reducing. No doubt hard core drinkers would still do it. I was just a casual but regular DUI vehicle operator that found the laws inconvenient so I pretty much stopped.
  9. Quarantine reduction starting when? October 1? Because the MFA, COE process still has the old info. Hope my hotel gets the memo. ????
  10. The telecoms companies could stop them... But why would they as long as you are paying the bill. I've discovered ghost SMSmessages in my billing. 3 Baht a hit charged to me up to 3-4 times a day for months. I wouldn't have even noticed because the SMS messages were being billed BUT I wasn't receiving any messages on my phone... Just happened to look through the AIS app because I'm bored and in quarantine. It's a clever scam that lightly bleeds you hoping you won't notice 200-300 Baht a month.... And many people probably don't, especially since paper itemized billing is history. Check your online/app based itemized billing and you might find that you're getting hit as well. When I called to complain, the operator didn't sound at all surprised. Their solution was to block the number and refund me the SMS charges for the past 3 months.
  11. It's all in the game... flight cancellations, PCRs, and rule changes... Travelling out of Thailand for vacations so hopefully the return will continue to just be the COE+AQ inconvenience. For myself, I choose not to wait another year, maybe another, etc. I might get Covid from the half masked lady at Lotus just as easily as from the dudes arguing about masks on my Southwest flight.
  12. I have booked my winter holidays and just tagged on another 16 days for quarantine. Scr3w you Covid. Is that all you got?
  13. Many airlines will have a section on their websites that will let you know their own documentation requirements for transit as well as the requirements for your final destination. The US is pretty lax at present. Just a covid test within 72 hours of departure.
  14. Might not be clearly black and white down the line, but that would make sense. (international schools going into their own pockets from their profit margins to keep their customers happy)
  15. Soon to be followed up with various support type stories of its use in China with this age group and wherever else China has made this available.
  16. On the plus side, the death of mass tourism has been great for the planet. If you dive or even just snorkel, you've no doubt seen the difference.
  17. It's like we're in a secret bar now, at least on this forum. All good.
  18. Only use a card that allows you to freeze it temporarily/permanently (through an app) without calling someone in India (where so many call centers seem to be now).
  19. Looking for places open to fully vaxxed travelers is still pretty limited worldwide despite the local whining/insistance of local (Thailand based) tourist industry folks. Getting PCR'ed seems to be quite common as well. Vacationing from Thailand, the US seems to still be the best option this fall (considered Finland and Spain as well) because of the number of the flights available in cases of flight cancellations/rescheduling.
  20. For those vaccinated stateside, the Clear Pass (Ios and Android) is supposedly Homeland/CBP approved and is easy to set up/scan your ID/CDC card, took me about 5 minutes. For Thailand use, there is a QR code function that will take whoever scans it to a page with your name and vaccination status. All this confirms is that your face matches your ID and that their system accepted your CDC card and what you entered as your vaccine type. It's not an online verification across the various state databases (yet) as there is not national linked system in the US for vaccine history.... Anyway, the Thai use case is that you can simply have folks at MK/Fuji/Sizzler scan a QR code instead of passing around/scratching their heads with your CDC card.
  21. Does the Thailand Plus app they are making everyone (inbound from overseas) install show your vax status as the Mor Phrom one does?
