  1. Some anyway. For many, it's like when you try to separate dogs in heat with obstacles but still leave a difficult to navigate path (with water traps, rope barriers, etc.) for them just to see how hard they try.
  2. Austin hill country. Yeah, I doubt it'll be what I want but better than nothing... jetting off back home to get some Luby's or Lone Star Cafe just isn't practical. ????
  3. Woke up with a craving. Willing to drive within a 2 hour radius of Bangkok or Chonburi. Other province suggestions welcome for future reference. Ideally it would be served in the kind of place that also serves mashed potatoes, Mac and cheese, biscuits with country style gravy, etc.
  4. Considering the revenue department's relative passivity on income and property taxes, we're likely in for a (thankfully) long wait. Will let the next generation worry about it and continue to chillax.
  5. I bought a dorm room/condo for my kids and the #1 feature on my list was near or direct access to the BTS/MRT station without having to cross a road. You only have to be unlucky once...
  6. These are the best threads. Been on this board for almost 20 years and it never gets old. Reminds me of one fellow (don't know if you're still on here) who said it begins with sin sod, and ended up with him having to write his name on all his possessions (as in blender, microwave, DVD player, etc.) in magic marker because the in-laws kept walking off with his stuff.
  7. Nice btc bump this am. Nothing like unrest and uncertainty.
  8. What part can I clarify for ya? ????
  9. Multiple tranches. To be a bit more specific, I'd say generally hold/hodl (long) but of course have your exit targets. It is built on tech and we all know how tech can quickly evolve into something else, Yahoo, Compuserve, Prodigy, and AOL seemed like a great 'future' just a few decades ago.
  10. Hodl but you should lock in your profit once in awhile unless you just enjoy watching it ride.
  11. They should charge 300.25 and only accept exact change.
  12. From experience, they don't care if you're bald, fat, and stutter and will treat you like a prince as long as you can reliably put sticky rice on the table/keep the fridge full of steaks. I imagine that probably applies to around 98% of the membership around here.
  13. Yeah, feel lucky to be here too. Cancelled my US trip last minute last month because I guessed (right and wrong) that they would scrap Test and Go and instead do a 2 week type quarantine. It really felt like a sure thing to catch covid after watching FB and Youtube clips of packed stateside ski resorts.
  14. The massage shops still open probably aren't helping either.
  15. IMO it'll be similar to your experience in China. Some will have no issues and will treat you like any other human being, others will have more backward views. One can probably say the same for most places.
  16. Yeah, all P2P crypto traders in Thailand MUST write in their bank transfer memos that they are buying or selling crypto so the appropriate taxes can be levied.
  17. The relative, friend, or tenant (presuming you still own property there) method is the best way to go. The mail forwarding service/US address rental service is not a good idea as most banks/credit card issuers seem to have a database of these now and don't accept them as permanent addresses.
  18. You can use Binance P2P and trade with buyers and sellers in any country. If you want to settle into a bank account you have in Dubai or London, just tick the appropriate currency and add your local bank account there (presuming you have one).
  19. Bullionstar in Singapore (which as of 48 hours ago, is now open to vaccinated Thai travellers: and YES they accept the Morphrom generated QR code). Much safer to store your gold bars there too (not AT Bullionstar itself although they offer those services... but at any of the major banks, all of which of course have SDB services).
  20. As long as you use a safety valve approach (if you're using bank direct QR codes, attach to an account that only has XXXX Baht or however much you think is just spare change; same for any wallet type app like True Money wallet: only charge up as much as you need for your Makro run or whatever), it's relatively safe. Not having coins in my life is so worth it. Hate coins. Despise coins.
  21. Reminds me, free 12 12 shipping tomorrow. Time to upgrade the BBQ grill.
  22. While not subject to the local visa and bank account hurdles myself, IMO a place loses its 'charm' if anyone could just set up shop there (and true nomads will of course find a way anyway). ????
