  1. I think it was a valiant display by the protest guards, they tackled an armed and dangerous intruder until he was disarmed and compliant, then carried him away for medical treatment. One was even shot while disarming the guy and once under control the guy was protected and transporter. The hospital reported he had minor injuries, unlike the person he shot.

Meanwhile, back in the real world......

I've seen some interesting takes on situations but that is worthy of suthep himself. I really hope for your sanitys sake that you don't actually believe what you wrote but that it was purely trolling.

If you watch the video you can see that the guy is confronted as he reaches the bottom of the stairs where struggles with protestors and shoots one, he continues fighting til the 30 sec mark where the mob joins in, then it take the protest guards 30 second to get enough people around him and stop the mob bashing. I would say the guards receive more hits in this period than he did, then at the 1 minute mark he is carried off to medical help. This shows great discipline and empathy from the guards, to protect and assist a armed assailant that has just shot your fellow guard, all in under 1 minute.

When we compare this to the red assault the other day their mob kept going til the victims appeared lifeless, with no one trying to help them or get them to medical assistance.

Thats strange I see a man chased by a mob defending himself as best he can then beaten to a pulp and probably the guards realising it was a policeman the mob were trying to kill. still comparing apples and oranges huh ? sad .... a mob is a mob and they are out of control, there is no moral high ground here.

Expect much more violence in the days ahead, real sad.

Strange I see a man being saved from a mob, by the protest guards. I also see a lot of emotion, and I agree when mob rule takes over "there is no moral high ground". But I also see only one side of the divide showing restraint and compassion and that's down to leadership.

  2. What a joke...............

"Elections on February 2nd could not be any more cartoonishly 3rd world, corrupt, and illegitimate. The opposition is boycotting them, the only major party contending them is openly run by a convicted criminal and his own sister, and now they have outlawed protests, opposition media, and suspended the rule of law.......... If they do begin censoring the media, arresting the opposition, and dispersing protesters – (media, opposition, and protesters all being parts of democracy, not just elections) their “victory” on February 2nd will look no different that Saddam’s or Kim Jong Ill’s. If they fail to disrupt protests which are set to expand as rice farmers cheated by the regime begin joining in, it will be the final nail in their coffin. The regime will not survive if elections are postponed." http://www.globalresearch.ca/thailand-thaksins-mad-dash-to-sham-elections/5365800

Thaksin is running out of cards to play, the spin doctors are working overtime doing damage control. His only option is to win a legitimate election, form a parliament, gain control of the treasury and grant themselves amnesty.

Hmmm.... interesting comment. And here I am, all along thinking that they were getting stronger by the day......

is that what theyre telling you in your village?

    Yes.

Incidentally, my village is Bangkok. To be specific, my mooban is "Intersection Asoke / Sukhumvit". But I guess you were too blind / blinkered / ignorant / stupid to realise that.

I think it was a rhetorical question, but considering you have obvious emotional control issues we can understand the misunderstanding.

  4. From TNN24 it is in Thai.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TEDLaRBWY5Q

My Thai is not very good, but the clip say something like:

The police fake as a motorcycle taxi man, was on the bridge, looking for information.

He was seen walking on the bridge trailing by a number of protester's guard.

A woman happen to notice the hidden gun, hence scream out GUN GUN.

The man try to run down the bridge, but was attacked by mob when he reach the ground.

He tried to fight, then a gun shot was heard, and a protester was seen limping.

IMHO looks more like self defense to me, but I am sure you will not agree.

He had gun, handcraft, police id, and came here ridding a police bike.

But why the hell is he wearing a motocycle-taxi vest? Moonlighting between job?

Absolutely disgusting display of mob violence, truly sickening.

If this man was indeed the shooter he should have been disarmed and handed to the Army

There is no excuse whatsoever for this level of violence

These are the people who claim to not use violence, they are peace loving protesters.

PCAD is increasingly looking like a proto fascist organisation.

We have the daily hate filled xenophobic speeches.

The denial of peoples right to cast votes

Now pack violence where they are the judge, jury and executioner.

How can anyone welcome PCAD plans for a non elected council of good people after witnessing this barbaric display.

  5. Yingluck has been shown to be a liar again when she claimed the constitution wouldn't allow a postponement of the election. Thaksin has been shown to be a liar again when he said Yingluck cant resign. Why should anyone believe they have any honest intentions of honouring their offer, with barbs attached, to postpone the Feb 2 election? There must be some selfish reason why they would even consider it.

Either they have a nefarious machination in play to pay the farmers off or they don't believe they cant hold on to government til May 10th, if a valid election is held. But you can bet your sweet ass that the plan is for the PTP or another Thaksin party to win the next election and push the blanket amnesty through to absolve them of all rice corruption charges and bring Thaksin home.

For Thaksin's PTP have never been about helping the rural workers, the poor and downtrodden or Thailand as a whole. They have always been about Thaksin, self enrichment and amnesty for their crimes. The cabinet of millionaire are now the cabinet of billionaires and the new ruling elite.

Here's hoping your worst nightmare comes true.

PTP / Thaksin party wins the election, an amnesty bill that brings Thaksin back to Thailand, the rice program resolved and bet your sweet whatever your false assumptions and outright lies are exposed for what they are.

Is that really your best effort? This scenario may be a wet dream for you but its a nightmare for the Thai people who will have to live with the PTP debt legacy and pay it. It will take generations of poor quality of life for the Thai people before the damage of the past Thaksin proxy governments and their pervasive corruption is resolved. For you to rejoice at the anticipation of another Thaksin administration and a further compounding of that damage indicates what a truly despicable out look you have.

  6. Maybe the rice farmers should have saved a little from the previous over priced crops ??

But that would be asking far too much...

Whilst I feel for them because they are being royally screwed, to some extent they deserve it..

If you lay down with dogs you get up with fleas. If the farmer sold their rice through the normal channels then they wouldn't get as much but they would be paid already. It was their choice to join this corrupt scheme, that defrauds from the tax payer and now they get a taste of the bitter rewards, that's Karma.

  7. The Thai Council of State is an institution that is under the authority of the prime minister. They have clearly agreed with the administration, despite the ongoing legal challenges to the programme, despite the EC saying no and despite the banks simply refusing to be raided. The payments are going ahead. It's unfathomable. And it now casts the election - particularly among the rice farmers - in a highly cynical light.

This would be the same council of state that said an election postponement is against the constitution, between this inept lot, her caddy and the ice-cream gang, I think "the darling of Issan" is in desperate need of some credible advisors.

  8. Shouldn't Khun Thida, and her fellow sub-leaders at the UDD, be campaigning in support of the poor unpaid rice-farmers, cheated by the government running-defaults & failed promises-to-pay ? wink.png

Our Family Rice Farmers about 20 families in the Nakhon Sawan area, most of them were paid for their rice earlier this week, The problems effecting the rice payments were the Elite ex ruling class attempted to foil the government securing a loan to pay the farmers for their rice!

    Cheers

You do understand that care-taker governments aren't entitled to put the next government into more debt, don't you?

I read that the same place you did!

The Caretaker government can borrow money, that has to be approved by the E.C., which the EC has already denied the governments request for a loan, now they have gone in with a second request.

It is not the government that has failed to pay the farmers it is the E.C. Plain and simple!

    Cheers

What is plain and simple is your logic, the PTP haver already over funded the rice scam to the tune of 680 billion baht, that is the original 500 billion revolving fund to be repaid from the sale of rice and the overdrawn 180 billion baht. Now the caretaker government want another 140 billion baht to pay the farmers who havent been paid due to the PTP governments inability to controll corruption and balance a budget, The EC has the duty not to approve extra loans that will be the responsability of the next government to pay. The PTP are responsable and accountable for their economic mismanagement and no one else.
