We get a new governor about every year. This problem has been there for as long as I remember. 20+ years. Only got worse with hotel/condo development at the north side of Karon.

I am an over 70 and usually at Phuket Airport if you contact the airline rep at the arrival gate then the airport authority should expedite your arrival procedures. Personally i never play the elder card, but often the airline staff will offer when seeing the elderly (me).

This sort post and all the other similar style display why previous attempts at 'get-togethers' fail. As an original mod of the very old phuket.com I was asked to arrange a get together of members who were mostly tourist visitor. I found that while folks back then chatty on the forum, but get togethers where stale and with much silence. A never attended the early annual Thai Visa gatherings in Phuket due to location and driving considerations. First I attended was when a Kata venue was selected so I attended. It was well attended but with little inter mingling. Just a lot of cliques old chums having free drinks. As a newbie I was just happy to go home. I believe that was the last Phuket meeting 2006 I would guess. After that Phuket members could not agree on a location for the next year and that was the end of it. About then all the other regional gathering just fizzled away.

The each paid a small 3,000 baht fine immediately. They did have permits but the 'agent' made a small error in the paper work. Fine should have been the end if but they were whisked up to Bangkok for processing. All very suspect ....

Think search more common now. Looking for drugs and guns. I would say that is all docs in order then no money to be made. Try a bit of searching .... Be straight to police station. If can pay 'fine ++)' then police cell will be limited. No money then off to the big jail.

Thanks for that stevenl. Clearly he should have not been driving in tunnel. As a 'local' he should have known that.

Not individuals. But there are a number of legal ways to buy/own land by company or proxy. A Thai lawyer easy make it happen.

Sadly I expect you walk away after you are bled dry with legal fees and promises promises to make all good for just a few dollars more.

Another car moving at speed appears to have jumped the light. Then the taxi came along. The mbike must have seen that first car and should have be more careful. He was lucky the taxi did not tbone him. Likely would have been fatal.

Here I look right then left then right. Approaching traffic comes in left side lane. So that's the immediate risk. Then look traffic left in far side of road way.

Pickup travel left to right at high speed. Struck the bike (I suspect bike middle road signal right turn). Pick up hits bike and slews clockwise across road facing wrong way on right side side walkway.

Recent news story says that police removed the campers on Patong Beach.

2 week ago drove from Kata to airport. Mid week about 10.30. Usual one hour ish.
