  1. Another soi bukcow bar owner arrested for allegedly running a prostitution service from his bar.

The aussie owner of a bar was arrested after i presume farang undercover cops set up a sting and found the bar waitresses working there were alleged to be prostitutes.

When will they learn, not referring to this case as it still alleged, but others bar owners, not to have staff who are really prostitutes and not waitresses.

  2. Yes it's on youtube.

i got the link from a email newsletter from Canterbury tales cafe/bar.

It's the latest song and video about Pattaya.

i dont think im allowed to post the link re thaivisa rules, but easily do a searh on youtube.

  3. Met a nice guy at the Canterbury Tales Cafe in Pattaya recently.

Dont know if anyone knows him,but he has recently released a song on youtube and video of Pattaya 'Money number 1'

His name i think is Daryl Read.

I thought it was great, probaly wont make the charts.

interesting to see the propeitor of canterbury tales acting as a bodyguard in the vid.

  4. Did you ever get the flight.

I think the email from the guy at Royal bruneo airlines was right, you dont get something for nothing.

The accomodation must be higher price.

    Where is the company now.

  5. Whilst I am not up to date on current legislation and nor am I a Government benefit recipant,I have just heard on today's talkback radio in Australia that the Disabled pensioner's overseas will have their pension's cut.

Here is an interesting link to a board from I believe Australian expats who are receiving the Disabled pension in Thailand challenging this new legislation.dspoverseas

  6. There is a "community/greenie" farang and Thai group that go around picking up plastic bags and rubbish on Jomtien every morning, some of these are elderly farang guys,do you think this guy is part of that group?

They are always asking for new "volunteers" to join them in groups or go individually.

Im unsure if this old guy is doing it for money as i never seen him.

  7. First of all,I have sent you or will send you a PM.

    I say go for it.Phuket

Im not sure what advice you already have, however I take it the bar will be probaly in Pattaya or phuket.

    You have 50k Aud,roughly 1.5 million,maybe a bit over.

Can you tell us more information,Pattaya ,Phuket,Bangkok? your age,any experience in business?

The thing is this,if you are only relying on the bars income to survive then you need to find a bar with a decent profit coming in every month.

Whether a bar selling for 1.5 million baht or so will have a decent profit for you to live on is something you would have to look at,i mean bars selling in that price range i would imagine have average profit of between 15-20k per month and thats probaly being generous.

If you have other income from your home country, house rental, social security etc coming in as well then it will make it easier, however having said that,if $500 a month profit is enough for you then i say go for it,you can do it and maybe build it up if your prepared to be there and introduce competition.

Bettering your options to is look for a bar with guest rooms on top,so obviously you can live in one of the rooms.

You need to look a lot before you buy, example is look for a place you are not going to spend any money on.

I will tell you more later and hopefully others will contribute, especially those who have been there and done it,but i say go for it,even only for the life experience and the challenges.

If you really want to buy a bigger bar consider finding a business partner.

Im a bit concerned your comment,"I will be attempting to do it as painlessly as possible",I doubt that happens when running a business as you will find many challenges, the thing is are you mentally prepared as well?

As I said if you have approx 1.5 million to spare then you need to find a business that you can buy and not have to WASTE another million baht fixing up .

You need really to do a business plan, because if you have a bar LOSING money rather than bringing in profit you will have lost your capital plus you will be trying to borrow money to pay for your monthly living .

For over 12 months I looked at many many businesses including bars in Pattaya, many over a year were not making a profit.

Sure high season was great months ,the low season months were losses in many cases.

Do you have a bar already in mind,if you do then look at its location, how much staff wages are,and the most important thing is rent and lease, its no use paying high rent and key money for bad locations.

  8. Yes thanks Striderman,Witherspoons,a fantastic place for good food, good drinks. and great companionship.

I dont know about buying it though.

You certainly would have to have a lot of hospitality experience.

  9. Done another walk recently, yes the HIDEAWAY BAR,top of the complex,no customers, thai lady was doing ironing ,I do remember take me back 5 years ago or so? this bar was heaving with customers, apparently the farang gentleman there at the time was running a Hideaway golf club so brought in many customers, what happened to this bar ? Why has it gone downhill, did the farang sell it?

Also went to a bar that use to run the karaoke for farangs, its up on the corner of the complex on the main road.

Well boy has that changed,no customers, had a thai lady singing, staff were abrupt for no reason,i left after one drink.

I asked the stern thai lady manager? what the bar was called as I use to come here a lot to see the older farangs sing "New York, new york",she wasnt impressed and told me "no name bar, which I think maybe a bit of sarcasm,so didnt bother to leave a tip and left.

Those 2 bars near the Venue ,down the bottom of the complex are always busy,40 baht Wine,is that for a small glass does anyone know? They own the buildings no rent.

Blarney Stone was open and a about 2 customers on the terrace but I didnt go in.

The Venue own the buildings so they do not pay rent,so they will be there a long time.

Shenanigans was very busy last Sunday night, english football on the TV,staff very very well trained.

Cafe Ritz always busy, owner from the UK,owns the building,no rent.

  10. I see there is a bar guesthouse advertised in one of the magazines for sale at 11.25 million baht,NOT freehold, just the business.

This business is in Soi Bukcow on the main drag near oasis go go,but for the life of me I cannot remember the name, starts with a "W",winchesters? Sorry cannot rember.

Its serves english breakfasts, great food ,i think even open 24 hours.

Anyhow its for sale, never in my time have I saw such a price for a business in Pattaya without including the building/freehold.

11.25 million baht if anyone is interested.

    Who here would pay that?

  11. Yesterday got a baht bus up to soi bukcow, sitting opposite was a young girl about 11 year old.

The baht bus driver decides to stop along the route where drunken farangs are using high powered guns,he stops for no reason other than to get his passengers wet.

A blast got the girl in the face and again ice water chucked over me,the baht bus driver still stopping and turning around inside his cabin laughing,,motorists behind him sounding their horns for him to go,i decide after another bucket over me to kick his back window to get him to go,he gets out of the bus to confront me and as he does that a ice bucket of water is chucked over his head, and inside the open door,i get out and walk off without paying the idiot.

Maybe thought he was funny stopping where crowds are so we can get ice water chucked at us,well he got his in the end.

  12. Once again I have a good friend coming out to Pattaya,he is after to BUY/RENT a building/house/guesthouse in Pattaya or surrounds, doesnt have to be in central pattaya, anywhere in surrounds is ok, which either has a lift OR is one ground building, similar to a motel type is ok.

Condition is unimportant but must have at least 8-9 rooms.

He is wheelchair bound from a car accident so is looking for a business he can live in,Please either PM me ior write it here f you know a building/area suitable or know a good real estate agent who can look for us.

I have looked on several real estate websites only to find out there not updated.

He is asked to me to look for him, however I hate walking around in the heat and motorbikes flashing by so havent really explored the areas up near Sukhumvit,be good if I could get a real estate agent to look for him.

It seems all the good real estate agents have gone,I remember a very big guy in Pattayaland 2 or 3? a few years ago but he seems to have gone back to the UK,same with Rob who use to do Ocean towers ,he's gone back to Australia.

  13. A load of <deleted> from a Trolling newbie, although i dont think the OP would know what a Troll, Newbie or OP actually is.:jerk:

I think he knows all about.

In a previous troll topic he stated he was from Australia, but judging from his writing that must be an Aboriginal then

Excuse me,Sounds like your racist and "stereotyping" against Australian Aboriginal people? Why must he be Aboriginal?

Is there anyone else you do not like?

To the OP I am aware Canterbury Tales in Soi Chaiyapoon, which is near where you stated, has a lot of gay customers.

  14. I went up to Tony's foodcourt on South Pattaya the other day, hardly any customers.

They had a variety of food stalls from Thai food to hamburgers.

I could see there was no where to park bikes so that may be the problem.

I have a thai friend wanting to invest in a business there,3,000 baht per month,no key money or deposit, sounds good but he's decided against it.

Too much of a risk ,unless there's a certain food that is not there already.

Tony is certainly is a successful businessman and good enterpreuner but i think this may close soon, probaly will end up condo's,even though theres a lovely big house next door.

  15. This will be a week of stupidity, people will end up being killed and many will lose their lives.

I am not looking forward to be powerfully squirted in the eyes with a water gun nor having a bucket of water chucked over my meal at a outdoor restaurant.

Personally i think its very stupid and i told a Thai businessman that tonight,he went on to tell me that in other places in Thailand, that in fact they do not "go on stupid behaviour" as in Pattaya, but neverless the behaviour i have seen in the past from both younger farangs and Thais do not make me exzcited.

  16. I tend to think there's an "oversupply" of restaurants in that area and with the closing of Pagoda restaurant it goes to show that "higher class" restaurants cannot compete.

Antz is in my opinion relatively cheap, mushroom soup 50 baht, hamburger and fries 90 baht etc,but unfortanetely they appear to employ young students who seem to want to mess round instead of working.

  17. I imagine should it be true about the allegation re the 6 month sentence, that he would be deported on release and blacklisted .................... but This is Thailand, who knows.

Well glad the Aquarius is shut temporarilly.
