Is there anyone here that can recommend some good bird watching areas in Chiang Mai? Anyone know of a birding Guide in the area?
Planned to stay for a few days

I guess it will have to be in world wide!!!
If I can get a flight booking on Air mile points, it's proving to be very tedious.... At the rate things are going I won't be getting off the ground! Burma supposed to be in the plan too.
I see on CNN , Sky News etc, 10 x acceptable limits on Smog, in Delhi area right now, coming from burning spent crops in the north and the fireworks from recent festivals .... every thing is fogged in an won''t make for a lot of great images ! Taj Mahal is on the list of places to see! I will see! Still looking for a hat and appropriate clothing too!
Delhi is a sh*t hole. The problem with the smog have been there for ages and if I remember it right it wins the "most polluted city" in the world year after year. Really nothing worth to see, except for the Raptors. I saw plenty "Black Clouds" in the middle of the city and I thought it was crows. The power poles are black and when you come close you see that it is Raptors sitting on them. Amazing.
But Agra is some 3 hours away on a nice highway and Jim Corbet Tiger Safari national park is 6 or 7 hours away. Well worth a visit for some days. You will love the birds.
Safari helmet is of course mandatory. Those British or if it was the French were not stupid. The helmet is made of Pith tree (I think that is the name) and when I was paddling down the Zambezi River I just soaked the helmet in the water and it had a real cooling effect when the water evaporated. Like we cool down when the sweat evaporates
Anyway, I have a boat for 5 days in Sundarbans (no roads) and I will look for tigers and birds in the Ganges Delta before flying to Varanasi. I was there when I was a young hippie doing what hippies did and this will be my last time in my life visiting Varanasi
Varanasi, back in the days, taken with a Canon EOS 600 I think. And we can see the dust, finger prints and I don't know what on the 30 year old slide.

Met my french friend who has two companies, one in France and the second a few km from my village;
he makes essential oils and has also rais with rice and rubber trees .
He was giving water to his young rubber trees
What we can see in the fields in the morning, it's only water not made by a spider
Hello ATX
Is this avocado trees? The leaves looking like the leaves i got out of the pot after having buried the avocado stone in to it (after a few weeks in a glass of water until the stone cracked)

Red-throated, I think. Otherwise known as "Taiga." But not Asian Brown.
Cheers
I have my books and internet. I have been looking at the Re breasted and the red throated flycatcher (Taiga Flycatcher). The Taiga is darker on my pictures, and on www.avibirds.com they have a picture of a Asian Brown with a wee bit off red under the bill
And I went for the Asian brown as they are light grey and the Taiga is darker on the back and wings on the pictures I look at. And my book, A Field Guide to the Birds of Thailand and South East Asia by Craig Robson, an excellent book. But sometimes it is very hard to identify the birds from the drawings as they look very similar at times. The reason why I like the colourful birds. I have pretty much given up on the waders. I also have the A Photographic Guide to Birds of Thailand by Michael Webster and ChewYen <deleted> and it is rubbish, good for nothing, at least not to have in the field.
Internet is the way to go and there are so many pictures it makes me confused many times as the same bird can look so different
I have already updated my records with the Taiga flycatcher.
And thanks to you I found the folder " Birds in my garden"
It was both a very pleasant and disappointing experience. So many beautiful birds and I wish we only had one folder for the birds. As this folder have been dead for a long time, until the last two days.
Thanks, and I hope to see you here again. Maybe some of your pictures from the folder " Birds in my garden" will find its way over here. I only see squirrels from my kitchen window and, well, there are quite a few birds a swell.
I live on Sukhumvit Soi 23 and when I look out my living room and kitchen window it is like I live in a forest. But when I go out I'm in the middle of Bangkok. I hope they never built anything next to my kitchen
Anyway, as it is my neighbour's garden I can not upload anything to your folder
Cheers

Yesterday thursday 3 of november 2016 , I went to Nong Han and returned home by main rd 22
A big " banana " ; it's like that we say in France about these trucks: " une banane " with cement in powder inside .
They were making a new surface in front of PoToTo station about 15 km before Sawang
In my village, cows drinking ...
76 kilometers - All photos with Olympus TG 860
WOW! You are for sure living in a great place, beautiful!!
Just my kind of place, except for the snakes. I would really like to live like this. I was thinking about Kangaroo island with Koalas and Kangaroo outside my kitchen (and millions of parrots) But the snakes....
Can't wait to come visit! By the way, what do you think your neighbours will think about a 3 ton lump of lard a** hissing around the area on a motorbike?
Cheers, love to see how you people don't care about snakes lives! Beautiful!

If one day u want to visit me, you can "pilot" my little honda 125 cc or be the passenger of my friend Jon on his big bike ; this one or another he has also .
Yes, I can see many birds but need to have a camera with a bigger zoom than I have on mine ( 21 - 105 )
WOW! That looks like a killing machine.
Seriously, I have been on a few bird watching trips and I have always been walking thinking that the people driving around in cars looking for birds are tw@ts. Enjoying the nature walking around. But then by accident, I have been in a car and I have been able to drive up almost to roll over the bird. I have tried it several times after.
When I walk the birds fly away when I'm pretty far away and I guess they see my legs and thus understand that I'm an animal and thus a threat. But the car, well, I don't know what they think but I manage to get pretty close
But the motorbike, seems like a pretty good idea
I will for sure come to see you. I will see when. 30th of November and I'm off for a tiger safari in India. Can't wait to get back
In November I will try to get to Bali to practice/ training with my new underwater gear preparing for my swim with the humpback whales in Tonga
But I might take you up on your offer in January
My last tiger safari in India, what a fantastic place it is. In the national park that is. As soon as you leave the parks the place is filled with garbage

Don't know who you are Aladdin; but if Bangkok is too stifling for u, you can come and visit me in Issan ...
Today, saturday 29 of october 2016, I was again on my MTBike for a 60 km ride ...
A few photos, only two ...
First, before 8 am, a very good friend of mine on his road bike, overpassing me quickly ..
The second, at the foot of a water castle in the countryside ; it's broken, as usual in Thailand ...
Well, I just might "POP" by when I go looking for birds. But I have only had one bike since I turned 18. And that bike spent most time in the back of a taxi when I was going back home from the pub. And the trouble to go around looking for a taxi accepting to take the bike.....
But when I go to "explore" the wilderness I usually rent a car and a driver so I can concentrate to look for the wildlife
I will let you know when I'm off for a new adventure
Cheers

Those are our sons and daughter, nieces and nephews, brothers and sisters. Those photos could have been me and my buddies, decades ago. I don't put them down. Some are future leaders, future aid workers, artists, doctors, astronauts, bakers, brokers, musicians, inventors, soldiers, .....you name it. The main differences between 20 yr olds and 60 yr olds are; elders are becoming more cynical, depressed, fat, inflexible (in body and mind), less compassionate, and less infused with pure joy. Should we punish younger folks for being youthful? That's what Thai authorities are doing.
Yes, that is what I like with our "western" world. You have something in common with most of the people, never mind their wealth, occupation or status in the society. We have all working scrubbing toilets, cleaning dishes, working on a farm etc. during our school holidays to make some extra money. Of course, after that we have had different paths in our life's, some are rich and some got dirt poor.
But many of the people we speak with have had the same experiences and in a coffee shop you can talk with the staff. We have all been going around India etc. and been doing what we did. In this part of the word we don't have much in common with the people. The poor have never had any chance to be something and the rich have never had to do anything.
We have all been young and as boomerangutang, we have had a lot of fun even though some of the stuff we did seems stupid today. But back then, yes it was a ball! And Overstay, it was great and you met people from all walks of life and they seemed to enjoy them self. The staff was people living at the guesthouse. And sometimes you had to go buy your own in some shop nearby. Always some place open 4 or 5 in the morning

Hello Jack
I have decided to buy a dry cabinet after having "consulted" Rabbit and some studies on the internet. I have found a few shops in Bangkok that carry the cabinets. But they all seems to be made in China.
But I found AV Camera in Bangkok and they have the Ailite and a GoodsGood brand. GoodsGood, when I saw the name I was 100% sure that I would never buy that brand. But I sent an e-mail to AV Camera and GoodsGood is Made in Korea. More than the double price. I studied the brand and it seems to be a good quality so I decided to buy a GoodsGood
More expensive, but I have this idea (stupid?) that I want workers to have a good salary and that the manufacturer have to clean up what the let out in the back of the factory. Me, myself want to have a good salary and I want a clean environment.
So Made in China is a NO GO for me with child and slave labour. And if you have ever been to China you know how the environment is, no doubt on where they drop all their shit.
Anyway, below is some info and I hope you find it useful. Fotofile is also selling dry cabinets, Chinese brand and I put pictures in another folder a few days ago, I think it is called HOW MUCH TIME TO YOU SPEND CLEANING YOUR CAMERA
I hope you make the right choice for our environment and our fellow workers! We have enough people asking where to buy cheap this and cheapest that without thinking on how is it possible to make a t-shirt for 25 Baht etc. Children walking around in chemicals, imagine it to be our own children, then we would gladly have spent a few hundred Bath extra

Dear Aladdin,
The AILITE is made in China and the Goodsgood is made in Korea.
For AILITE, You need to come pick up at our shop. However, the 150L will be available next week.
The Goodsgood, however, has delivery service. The quality and material of this brand is much better than the China ones.
It is ready to deliver in 1-2 days after payment.
The information is on our website, which you should already checked, and it is written in Thai ...
Best regards,

This was bound to happen sooner or later. I went there for a party a few years back when they had psy trance parties. The guy running the place (I'm pretty sure the same guy caught with the weed) was an extremely arrogant d*ck lol. The place full of smelly hippys and the like. Khao sarn dreadlocks everywhere.
I still hope they don't get into too much trouble just for smoking weed... But selling? You are farked!
Well, I have been there quite a few times. I liked the the place when there was a good DJ or performer.
And I never saw any trouble or fighting there, it was a fun loving crowd.
This is the kind of place I like, but I would never set foot there sober. And to stay there, never as it looked to need a good scrub and I can imagine the bathrooms and bed sheets
The Israeli guy, as you say , and arrogant duck. Or it might have been me being obnoxious, or a combination of both. But he was for sure not in to CUSTOMER SERVICE
Anyway, here are few pictures for you that have never been there

Well, maybe I end up in the penalty box for saying this. I like the bike in the pictures, kind of gives life to the scene. Especially where you hardly see the bike behind the vegetation etc. But also, a dirt path with the bike on it shows "ME" that there is something happening. But that is me, others might not like it

Today no bicycle;
Iwent to Udon to buy new shoes for cycling with my MTBike;
Exustar size 46 ( french ) 12 ( US men ) 11 ( UK ) and 29,5 ( Japan )
; why all these different sizes ?
I thought they were more expensive than the price I paid : 2250 baht = 58 euros .
Two photos today;
one in Udon downtown , a old, maybe very old Isuzu
And one on the road to return home ; is that a mobil-home ?
Olympus TG 860
If I'm not wrong it says SELL CHEAP so maybe this can be something to use as a summer house. Buy a piece of land and, viola, we have a summer house. I love the pictures and the area. I never manage to give the landscape any justice with my pictures. Very hard to get a beautiful landscape to look good on pictures.
But you seems to have mastered the art, at least on some of your pictures.
Maybe I should buy the summer house, and the truck and we have a camping mobile
May I ask you if you ever see any wild life on your trips? Like deer etc.
Seems to be a beautiful way to kill the day. But I have never seen much of wild life here in Thailand. An elephant, a few deer and a bear. Of course plenty birds, but mammals?

Be careful ordering from FoodByPhone
I used them for several years, then suddenly a few years back they started to spam me.
Are you hungry?
Special price this and that!
Even though I went through the trouble to UNSUBSCRIBE to their stupid e-mails SEVERAL TIMES they just kept on coming. Haven't used them for a very long time now, and I will never use them again

Here we have a good example of why I will never become any good photographer. I get to excited and forget all about the camera settings.
The professionals does it without thinking. Look through the camera while adjust the settings and they get perfect pictures
I had been taking night pictures and the day after I spotted a volcano. I got so excited and I started to take pictures with the middle of the night setting. All pictures was nothing but white
Same here, I spot three whales playing between 2 ice bergs. I had been taking pictures in the sun, and turning around to see the whales in the shadow and the exposure is ducked up.

So, in the middle of all this beauty there are bad news lurking looking to kill my friends
We can see the harpoon up front of the boat, not used for cod or herring
But my friend is hiding in the ice
Sorry for all the whale pictures. But I never get tired of it. I met a guy from Germany. He asked if I had seen any whales and I said yes. Then he asked why I would go to look for them again
I could not come up with something to say for 20 minutes, well, what to say?

Looking for whales among the ice berg
These ice bergs are stuck on a threshold with a water deep of 300m The Ice fjord have a deep of 1000m and to get out in the sea they need to get over a threshold with only 300m. So the iceberg have 1 km under the water surface, amazing.
A sight I will never forget

My favourit whales to watch are the Humpback as this is a real player. Likes to jump around etc. I also like to watch the Right whale as they are also giving a good show.
The Bluewhale is very boring. You only see the back. And of course you can see that it is a big whale because of the time you see the back
Blow-back-back-back-back-back-the smallest dorsal fin you can imagine-back-back-back-back and the whale is gone
Here we have yet another Humpback swimming along having a good time

And I will try the Suan Buak Hat where you took the last pictures. Same here in Bangkok, amazing bird life in the parks of Bangkok. And the Red whiskered bull bull is a beautiful bird. Plenty of them at my neighbour's
Do you know any professional guide with car if I want to go to the national park?
Thanks
