  1. [Okay, I'll reply to my own posting.] Yes it's true, the cheque from Thai Revenue can be easily deposited at any of the major banks where you have an account. Farang included. Deposited mine this morning at Kbank. Indeed very smooth.
  2. Just got my refund check in today's mail. I do not have an account at Krung Thai Bank. Are we agreed that I can take the check (and passport and bankbook) to Kasikornbank and they will deposit it into my account? It's been a long haul. Like to see it come to a smooth finish.
  3. Had this in one foot for months, finally got well. then had it in the other foot for another half year. Two tips: - Never walk barefoot on a hard surface. Not even for a few steps. Find suitable slippers for indoors. Wear flip-flops in the shower. Try to find a pair of Dr. Scholl's sandals that are not too hard nor too spongy. A little arch support is good, but not too much. - Gently stretch your calves several times a day for a count of twenty. Videos available on YouTube. This is a crucial ingredient of healing.
  4. OP made it clear that the black structure was an awning. Not a house. Except for the roof material itself, the space underneath, if it truly is fully open to the outdoors, will be the ambient temperature. Painting it a lighter color would make no difference in the daytime. Caveat: heat release from the heat stored in the roof material at night might be objectionable. I would hope the neighbor used a "sandwich" form of insulated steel.
  5. Consider Viber Out.
  6. Recent model American Standard.
  7. The correct answer is: you may turn left on a red light - IF it is safe to do so, AND - IF there is no sign prohibiting it at this location, AND - ONLY after coming to a full stop.
  8. I cannot convert. Plenty of good reasons in my situation. Not concerned about RMD at this late stage. Just assuming it won't be assessable because it won't come here, and I will already be paying full tax on it.
  9. The mention of US IRA accounts caught my eye. I wonder if this issue is clear: if I take a distribution from my IRA every penny of it will get taxed by the IRS as ordinary income. That is to say "at full rate". If I don't transfer that money to Thailand is it assessable? Cannot be, right?
  10. I was hoping for 73 years old. Unfortunately I'm now 75. I'm falling apart more and more every day but still predict another two or three years. Wish I knew what to do about it. Is anyone on Lazada selling fentanyl?
  11. Very suitable for outdoors but quite hard and thus not easy to work with, more so than teak. My Surin gardener also says it is expensive and even a bit rare. Might want a second opinion unless you trust the sourse.
  12. Simvastatin can be bought as Bestatin at any pharmacy in TH for just a few baht.
  13. It's probably true that extended use of laxatives can have consequences. The better choice, if they work for you, is stool softeners (e.g. Fybogel). Best I can tell from Shopee, Posh Medica sells several flavors of high-fibre powders. Note: Have you tried eating ordinary bran flakes for breakfast? Add some fruit. Note: Whatever you settle on, use no more than is necessary to get the results you need. Too much fibre can actually make things worse. Note: The classic is a glass every morning of prune juice. It is a laxative but at least it's natural. Del Monte brand is at TOPS.
  14. I recommend that you try Hialid 0.1 as it is the easiest to use and works much like artificial tears (i.e. it's pretty thin).
  15. There are probably 1 or 2 backflow prevention valves in your system. Consider a pumproom valve configuration that might prove or disprove proper function. In our village of new homes most pools were built with 100 baht check valves that failed within a month. The builder was eventually compelled to replace all of them with 1,000 baht models that work perfectly.
