Has anybody on here ever had a 3 or 12 moth extension to stay on a Non-immigrant visa issued into a temporay passport? In this case, it would be a German 1 year temp passport (full temporary passport, not a travel document to fly out). I find myself in a bit of a tricky situation (to put it mildly) down to a weird quirk of German citizenship law and my full passport renewal, just trying to see what the options are if my full passport can't be renewed in time. I am aware I can ask immigration so no need to reply with that - just looking for real life experiences from anybody that has either done it or not been able to do it, regardless of their nationality. OK so the wife has a small cafe in Pattaya and it seems to be going quite well so far so good. One thing I would like to introduce for her is decent filter coffee, obviously milk based coffee is the go to nowadays but there are a few people that only order Americano or long black, which her machine does not do a great with from what I am told. So I have seen a pretty decent drip machine (Zwilling brand) and I would like to offer black/filter coffee in her place as well as cappuccino etc. Thing is though, I am allergic to coffee so never drink it and have no idea on what beans to buy. She already has a burr grinder and thermal carafe. Need a bean recommendation that will taste good in drip (1 litre per brew) that is easy to get (would prefer to buy locally, but Lazada/Shopee also an option if the price vs quality is good. Something from Makro would be great, as long as they consistently have it in stock. Price wise looking at the 300-600 Baht range which I understand should get us something decent. Thanks in advance.

One is used for business, the other is used for you personally. Sometimes people use their personal apps for business but from a company accounting point of view, you should really just use your business account to do business transactions.

Today Kbank (bless them) finally retired their (very useful) Kbank SME App on Andriod. You are supposed to transition to their new app KBIZ - but only for Thai's and not for us dirty foreigners (even though I have banked with them for 18 years). I run two busy businesses here and being able to make payments on my phone is super useful, so I need to change to bank with a decent mobile phone app. Bangkok Bank doesn't have a phone app (that I am aware of - please correct me if I'm wrong), so even though I have a business account with them they are out of the potential banks to switch to. So looking for a bank that allows foreigners to use their mobile app - a massive bonus would be the ability to scan QR codes to make payments from that app as this was lacking on the KBank app that has just been retired. It's a whopping great hole in the new law - you do now need to register on the Plook Ganja app but any Thai can do it and there are no inspections or similar. Then you can grow however much you want pretty much, it's not possible for anybody to check if you sell it or not. So you now have commercial farms having to get some serious paperwork together for their commercial licenses, but everybody else growing unlimited amounts without any restrictions and in reality able to sell it without any problems. What could possibly go wrong?

After legalisation in June 2022 loads of people gave growing at home ago, but since then most seemed to have stopped because a. it is actually quite hard here if you are not used to growing in high heat & humidty, and b. the price of flower is currently that cheap there is no point. However, the price of flower is about to go North as the low grade growers stop producing low grade weed that nobody wants, the new GACP requirement will knock most of them out of production. So lets say the price went back to 150-250 Baht per gram for even the mid-range, avergage flower (which is very possible) would you consider growing your own at home? It costs about 25-35 Baht per gram to do so, for reference. Cheers.

I researched this a bit further and it does seem that law recognizes marriage by the parents after birth date as the same as being married when the child is born. Section 1547 addresses this. So that is the new thing I learned today - there are 4 ways, not 3 ways of being registered as the father of a child under Thai law: 1. Being married to the mother of the child at the time of the birth of the child 2. Marrying the mother of the child at a later date (unspecified timeline and you will need to prove you are the biological father) 3, Court legitimized via legal process 4, Mutual agreement registration at the local Amphur after the the child is 7-8 years old (exact age of child not specified)

Thanks for all the replies. However, it still leaves the original question unanswered. If you are on the birth certificate but not married when the child is born, then marry afterwards do you get the same rights as you would get if you were married when the child was born, or do you need to either go to court or wait until they are 7 and do it at the local amphur. Note this is not a visa related question, if you are living with the child and the mother and on the birth certificate immigration will give you a Non 0 extension. This is about the legal status of guardianship and what happens if the marriage then goes South and you divorce - are you then the father in the eyes of the law or do you still need to go to court. An example of how this might affect somebody in real life is putting a property in the child's name, if things went south and the relationship with the mother broke down after the remarry, if you were not registered properly as the father she could sell the property and you wouldn't be able to stop it, as far as I know. Or applying for a passport for another country for the child would require documentation saying you are the legal father, but would you have it if you married after the child was born...?

With respect that is very bad advice, you should always, always, always have a good lawyer with you in court for anything important in Thailand unless you read and speak legal Thai as well as a Thai lawyer.

That is incorrect, unless you are married when the child is born you are legally not recognized by the Thai courts as the father of the child regardless of being on the birth certificate. You can get a Non 0 extension as immigration will normally allow this, but that does not make you the legal guardian of the child. This is something I dealt with myself several years ago, I am very familiar with this part of the law. The question is and it's quite interesting - if you marry the mother of your child AFTER the child is born do you get the same rights as if you were married WHEN the child was born. He is already on a non O extension based on the kid, but this is facilitated by the mother of the kid. It's complicated but the question is the question, his visa status is not the issue.

OK, so asking this for a friend. He has a 4 year old daughter with a Thai woman that is his girlfriend, not wife. They have never been married and were just boyfriend and girlfriend when the child was born. He is on the birth certificate. His relationship with the Thai woman is quite stormy and this results in the kid sometimes having to go to Isaan to stay with the family, while things settle down. He has been told that if he marries the mother of his child, he will gain the same parental rights immediately as he would have had if they were married when the child was born. I was under the impression that he would need to go to court and get recognized as the father to get these rights (as I have had to do in the past with my son), but he is adamant that the same parental rights are instantly given if he marries her now. Is he correct on this or will he still need to go to court to get recognized as the father legally in Thailand to get equal rights over the child (in the eyes of the courts)? Thanks in advance.
