  1. Best advice is when swimming in the sea always cover up.

If you swin in the sea every day eventually you will be stung by a jellyfish. Depending on the type of jelly fish you could have mild or severe symptoms.

A sting from the wrong kind of jelly fish can kill.

Its pointless describing the very dangerous ones as we have seen from this post you rarely see what stings you.

When I learnt to dive I would go in with only shorts. I got a sting from a unseen JF around my ankle which didn't heal for months , I still have the scar years later.

Now when i want to dive or snorkel I completely cover up. Wet suit , gloves , hood and booties. The only part of my skin that is exposed are my lips and cheeks and I still get stung (petroleum jelly helps as a protective barrier).

If I want to swim I do so in a pool. If I really needed to swim in the sea daily I would get one of those Lycra skins.

If I took children into the seas I would insist on them being covered up.

    Cheers

  2. Civil disobedience is not to be tolerated, it leads to anarchy. Sometimes you need the 'burning skull" bridgade to stand between them and you, but we are used to being looked upon as thugs until you are the one being threatened.

Civil disobedience is not to be tolerated - I only thought dictators had this point of view.

Sometimes you need the 'burning skull" bridgade to stand between them and you, but we are used to being looked upon as thugs until you are the one being threatened. - A thug is a thug is a thug.

I won't be responding to you any more as you are obviously trolling.

  3. With all due respect, it's unlikely the BBC will consider the story worthy of coverage at the present time. The 'storming' of a TV station, build up of traffic and school kids being sent home only is hardly earth shattering in the context of World News.

While things may escalate, it is not a world news story at present. More serious events elsewhere will continue to dominate the headlines unless something major happens.

For the moment we are looking at a local problem that most of the world are not the slightest bit concerned about. Hopefully the situation will remain that way.

Its already been on the BBC for 30 minutes

  4. Where did you get that stat?

I am guessing from the logins. Most logins are from the USA.

    FWIW

Thaivisa.com users come from these countries:

    Thailand31.3%

    United States15.3%

    India6.5%

    United Kingdom6.5%

    Cambodia2.9%

  5. It seems that other countries are able to enforce what size bike / qualification of rider is allowed to use expressways , why not here.

I would go along with 250cc being the minimum capacity.

I would also go along with having a new license for 250cc +.

As long as the bike can safely travel at the legal limit, I don't see a need for specifying the engine capacity. I had a 125 in Europe that produced over 32 horses on around 140 Kgs, there aren't many wheeled boxes that can beat that for acceleration.

The systems in Europe are pretty good. I think the system in Germany is possibly one of the best, where you are restricted in terms of age/speed/power/power to weight ratio

However, the problems of applying a similar system in Thailand are obviously far too great. But maybe specifying only bike above 15 horses might work.

We, IMO, as posted already, are talking about allowing a very small number of potential bikes onto a small number of Expressways around Bangkok. I really do not see a big issue here.

My reasoning for 250cc is quite elitist and selfish.

Most bikes currently in Thailand are less than 250cc most less than 150cc.

Most people would not be able to afford upgrade to 250cc.

I can afford and prefer to ride larger capacity bikes >900cc.

So I would be able to enjoy the expressways without the hordes.

Seems pointless to have a cake if you cannot eat it!

  6. I just made the best burgers in BKK!

50/50 beef / pork mince handily packaged straight from Fuji.

    1 onion

    1 egg

    1 cup of bread crumbs

    Salt and Pepper

Grilled on my balcony on the charcoal BBQ.

Toasted sesame seed bun + lettuce , Tomato , slice of pickle , Hellmans Mayo and Harrods Christmas Mustard.

    Beet that Mac!

    Cheers

  7. IANAL, but generally I think a soft license is one that gives someone else certain rights over your work, while not taking away any rights from you. For example, you grant the board owners/promoters the rights to reproduce your words, but you also retain the rights to those words, in case you might want to use them again in a book [or magazine article, or whatever] you might write in the future.

If rights are granted , it implies that they may also be revoked.

Under what circumstances if any would this apply?

    Cheers

  8. Take the battery out of the machine.

Carefully take the battery to bits. You will find on-line tutorials to help.

Work out what size and capacity rechargeable batteries are being used inside.

    Buy new batteries and replace.

If the above would challenge your technical skill set , take the battery down to Pantip or Fortune where you will find somebody who will do it for an extra B200-500.

    Cheers
