Mapguy,
Get a life. When I download it is done during the wee hours of the morning when everybody is sleeping. For your info I only download movies periodically, I mostly download UK series like Top Gear, Fifth Gear & the soaps of course. So unless you know another way that I can watch UK TV bleep, bleep, bleep......
Mapguy probably doesn't want to tell you as it uses a bit of bandwith, but fortunately I do
Install on your pc "your freedom" . Log in on a UK server and install "Zattoo" . If your connection is good enough, you can watch your most favorite channels Beeb, Beeb, Beeb,.....(Same same for German and French users)
<Marcus,
Just downloaded Zattoo (you have to do it in the order Marcus describes or you end up having to delete your cookies) and got your freedom up and running no problem.
But all I'm getting is there are no channels currently available.
Any idea what I may be doing wrong?

A B7,000 fine is probably better than what you could have been given if they prosecuted the fact that you had illegally exited the country.
Live and learn.

Torrent traffic does indeed take as much bandwidth as possible. So people who just want to surf, check mail etc. will start complaining about torrent users.
Then the torrent users come up with the statement that they just use what they pay for. "If I pay for 2Mbps download, I want to use 2Mbps 24/7." The only thing is, you're not paying for 2Mbps-all-for-yourself, you're paying for 2Mbps-shared-with-other-people. The bandwidth amount is a peak indication.
You cannot be serious.
If you weren't expected to get 2mbps the the ISP shouldn't advertise it as such.
If the ISP is selling you 2mbps with a fan out ratio of 50 then they should advertise is as 40kbps.

If you don't like the way Thaivisa is handling it's problems, feel free to move to an other forum. It seems to be that you had forget that YOU use Thaivisa for free as most of all other users, include the Admins and Moderators. If you read the rules again, you'll find that the use of Thaivisa Forum is for free but on will of Thaivisa to whom they give the rights of using it's forums.
Reimar thats a can of worms I'm surprised the Admins are allowing you to open up.

Gary,
Have you had any problems with the suction cup?
Mine keeps falling off the windscreen.
A bit drastic but my solution has been to super glue it in place.

Just for the record - is today Tuesday or Wednesday?
I only ask because my calendar, computer, and the Thai Visa clock says it is Tuesday, but the Nation reports are all claiming it is Wednesday, and I'm well confused.
.... unless the Nation has been forwarned about events due to happen tomorrow?
Gaz
It is definitely Tuesday hereabouts Gaz.
Glad you caught up

Is there a breaking news only thread on this? Hard to wade thru pages of comments (I'm being nice ) to keep an eye on the actual picture...
you hit the nail on the head! there should be a 'closed' news channel/thread with no comments by no one. and then a discussion channel, where we can exchange arguments and opinions.
This would be the discussion thread for breaking news regarding today's events. Turn on your television for pure news broadcasts. WADR
Remember not everyone is in BKK.

this is a forum for discussion ... you have internet and there are streaming news sites
JD I agree in large part.
But this is the Thai news clippings section , and a lot f people use TV to get there news.

I also agree.
I would also say that Its easier to read news articles when they are posted without the posters own commentary , or bits being highlighted or deleted.

EDIT ^^ thats a example of how it should be done.

Hi Gary,
Sounds like you have a lot of knowledge on automotive GPS systems, and you can probably answer my question in your sleep. I just got my retirement visa and now I can plan to stay here long term so I am now looking to buy a new car next month and expect to tour Thailand extensively. I want my car to somehow be GPS equipped, preferably in-dash (without dash modification) but I think this may not be a practical approach unless the car's DVD player can be used for the GPS display. It looks like I will be buying either a new 2009 Honda City or a 2008 Toyota Altis. The Altis offers an in-dash DVD player (not sure if this will be a City option). Should I consider getting a factory installed DVD player in my new car to somehow use in conjunction with a (Garmin I assume) GPS ? Or is a hand-held GPS the most practical way to go, or maybe a dash mount? Not worried about the cost - accuracy is the most important consideration so I don't miss some turn somewhere. English display is a necessity but being switchable to Thai would be helpful for my wife to help out. Thank you!
I haven't heard many people talking about the Factory fitted GPS systems.
When I asked Toyota the sales staff couldn't even tell me who provided the map.
I think its fair to say the ESRI map (which is used by both MIO and Garmin - I think) is acknowledged as the best map available for Thailand.
I have travelled around Thailand a lot and have found a few mistakes in the ESRI maps but nowt enough for me to ditch it or switch it for another.
On another related point. If you intend doing a lot of mileage on your arrival why not put those miles on somebody elses car and rent for a few weeks.
If you did rent then it would make even more sense to buy a removable GPS like a Nuvi so its easy to put in your own car once you've finished abusing your rental car
Just what I would do.

Nasty wounds!
Never saw anything like it!
There was a thread on Jellyfish around already - vinegar yes, but if i recall correctly "hot water"...?
There's differences of opinion on the effectiveness of hot water as a treatment.
I spoke with a Doctor about this. His take was that for the water to have any effect on the toxins from the JF it would have to be hot enough to start breaking down the proteins in the toxin. The offset of that would be it would have to be hot enough to break down the proteins in the tissue affected.
I'm not sure either way.

My use of TV has dropped dramatically since it became so difficult to get News from the News forum.
I am now reading the BKKPost and Nation websites more often than I did.
I am sure it's the same for a lot of other people.
