  1. yes they are expensive but you are buying quality. I didn't even know you could buy an adult trek for 9000 baht. If that's not second hand i would guess that it is no more than a toy itself so i wouldn't bother buying anything more than a tesco/big c bike for your child. A very basic entry level Trek, (or any other recognized brand), would start at around 15,000.

  2. Hi nidge, we've had a few aphid threads over the years, you might consider neem spray.

heres a few threads on neem

    http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/index.php?app=core&module=search&do=search&fromMainBar=1

Thanks sbk, the link didn't work but i checked neem. There are warnings regarding pregnancy. As my wife is pregnant i'll give that a miss until next year but i will definitely try it then.

I like the garlic idea, i'll try that one tomorrow. Thanks fred.

  3. The soapy water does no harm to the plants or soil, i have used this method for about 25 years. It worked very well in England but it's less successful for me here. The aphids are much bigger and move a lot faster. They only seem to affect the buds though.

Do you have any problems with roses? Mine sometimes flower really well, other times the flowers are small and scruffy, it's really annoying.

  4. I have a flower garden and i also suffer with aphids on my 2 of my hibiscus. Curiously the other 2 are untouched. I bought an "organic" aphid killer from homepro. It was the only thing they had and it smelt really bad. Works as well as water. The most successful method i have tried is soapy water. Mix some dish soap or hand soap into water and spray it. Also after you have washed the car, (assuming you have one), pour the soapy water over your plants.

If you find a better solution let me know. i'd love to try something more successful.

    Nidge.

  5. The way itunes won't let you pull files off of it and back onto a computer,

Which way is that? I have no problems dragging music from an itunes playlist to my desktop or anywhere else for that matter.

  6. I don't know what to do with the pineapple but i personally would put it in a pot, they don't grow too big and you can still move it if you like.

Any chance of knowing more about the hotel? The website isn't that brilliant but the fruit shaped rooms look interesting.

    Nidge.

  7. If you don't like the mouse swap it for a track pad. If you don't like that idea, plug in any old usb mouse you like. My trackpad is rubbish for some games so i just use a standard logitech one.

I had the original mighty mouse with the scrolling ball in the middle and hated it. Probably the only thing i dislike about mac computers. I'm sure the new one is much better.

  8. My wife has the 27" iMac and it's brilliant. I prefer the macbookpro just because of the portability.

If you get the iMac then the new model is already out. In the past few years i have convinced a number of workmates to change to macs and they are all very happy. I have never met anyone not happy with their mac, the only time i hear of it is in Thai visa, (and people always tell the truth here don't they!).

When I first started using a mac, the best thing was that if i was stuck or confused about anything then there were plenty of people eager and willing to help me out. Every time i was stuck the answer was really simple too. As sappersrest has already said, once you start using a mac, you will realise how bad windows really is and wonder how you ever put up with it.

    Good luck.

  9. The google + app is now available in the itunes store I have just downloaded it but my phone will not put the photos in the box marked From your Phone any one having the same problem or solution

My phone is an iphone 4.

You are obviously not shopping in the Thai app store.

I also noticed google earth for the iPhone is not available in Thailand either. Anyone know if either are on their way?

Just change to the US store?!

Since Google+ is free, you could get it using any new free US based .me account....

I wish i could do that. When i change stores i can't buy anything, even software that is free. A couple of months ago i was able to but Apple must have changed something in the app store to prevent that happening.

bkkjames, so you don't like google earth, there are plenty that do. It's probably one of my most used pieces of software after my web browser. when linked to a gps it's a very powerful tool. All of my bike rides, runs and hikes are stored like a visual database. For me that is awesome especially as it's all free,

  11. Thanks guys!

Sorry if this is teaching you to suck eggs but..

A little tip if you are worried about taking your macbook apart, (so many people seem to be). Just take a picture every step of the way so you can do the opposite putting the ram back in. It makes life so much easier should you forget and have a screw left over.

    Nidge.

  12. take the ram out of your machine and go into any computer memory store, show them what you have and they'll give you the correct upgrade.

I bought my first macbookpro in panthip years ago and the sales person told me not to buy ram from him but to go anywhere else in panthip!

  13. Did you try the group video chat? Or the youtube sharing feature?

I saw the video chat ("Hang outs" right?) not really my thing, and can't you already do this on Skype or MSN? Didn't see any youtube sharing featured?

Just seems a bit flat to me, no wow factor.

(When entering my profile details it didn't even have my University or High school in the database)

Yes you can video chat on skype but Hangout allows group chat. You can only do that with a paid membership on skype. Google+ feels flat probably because of the lack of friends you have right now. Cast your mind back to when you first opened facebook. It was boring as hell.

% minutes messing around with circles and how flexible they are was enough to make me close my FB account for good.

  14. Last year i moved from a furnished 2 story house in to a bungalow. The bungalow was brand new and i had no storage. It was a nightmare at first. No understair storage for a start. Now i have to shove everything i don't need into the loft.
