  1. I am looking for shops that sell dancing shoes for Tango dancers. I know a couple of places at the moment...

    - 2 shops at Amarin Plaza. 1 at rumpuree and the other one is somewhere below rumpuree. I believe they cost about 3000 THB.

    - Sansha Dance Shop in MBK Centre 3rd floor The Image (hotel Zone) http://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowTopic-g2939...es-Bangkok.html - Never been here. Anyone knows about this one?

    - Siam Square - http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/Dancing-Shoe...ies-t88095.html

I know some people sell custom made dancing shoes. I walked into a random shoe store and I asked about getting a pair of dancing shoes and they quoted me about 3000 THB for a custom made pair. If they cost 3000 THB per pair, I might as well get the ready made ones from the shops above without waiting over a week to get them made.

I know someone who can do it for 1200 THB but her place is very far from my apartment and she stood me up (this happens a lot in Thailand eh?) today so I don't want to buy from her anymore.

Any idea where I could find dancing shoes?

  2. Found Ur Station right opposite the Immigration Department at Sathorn area. I took the MRT to Lumphini and went out from exit 2. Walk straight and turn left at the first road. The full information is here:

    http://bangkok.immigration.go.th/en/base.php?page=location

I don't know why I missed it the last few times I was at the Immigration Department. Now I can submit my passport and go to this place to eat and wait before going back to collect my passport.

  3. The tops food court at Robinsons basement Sukhumvit (Asok BTS) has a stall that has a small vegetarian menu and they also can cook vegetarian dishes if you ask them to.

The tops food court at Robinsons (Thai Cultural Center MRT) has a vegetarian food stall. Same in the tops food court at Central Lad Phrao.

There is also a vegetarian food court near Khampeng Phet MRT. I forgot which exit to get out from.. It is quite hidden out of sight. Food is cheap there at around 15 THB per dish.

Another great place to have vegetarian food is at all the pizza restaurants if you take cheese.

These are the ones I can think of right now....

  4. My friend wanted to bring me to this Italian Vegetarian restaurant once but it was closed for Song Kran a few years ago. I wonder if it is still around now? Any idea where it is and what it is called? I remember it was around Sukhumvit area.

What are the popular vegetarian restaurants around Sukhumvit, Siam, Chit Lom?

I only know a few places like in MBK - Bug & Bee, both food courts and 1 restaurant outside the level 6 food court.

The central food court at CentralWorld level 7 has vegetarian food at the Vietnamese food stall.

Indian food like Dosai King, which I don't like very much because the price is high and portions are small. Little Hanoi at Emporium... I know there are some other vegetarian restaurants around Sukhumvit but I am looking for the ones that are close to BTS so that I don't have to walk like 15 minutes to get into a soi...

I have also been to 2 May Kaidee restaurants but I did not think the food was fantastic or anything..

I also like MK and Coca's vegetable set. I prefer Coca because their chili paste is nicer and they've got tom yam soup.

Last but not least.. Do you know where I could get vegetarian buffet? I wanna eat and eat and eat. I am starving here as a vegetarian!

  5. I have yet to see any photo sticker booths in Bangkok. You know those funny Japanese machines that can take pictures of you and your friends and print out the photos as stickers?

Can I find one around the Siam/Chit Lom area?

  6. I've got an old nikkon digital camera that I want to fix if it is cheap to do so. Most likely, it won't be cheap to repair it at nikkon. I am thinking of throwing it away but I would like to know if there any places for me to do so? Maybe someone might have a need for the spare parts and batteries.

  7. I am looking for the true coffee coffee shop at Sukhumvit MRT.

The address on the true coffee site is:

MTR Sukhumvit Station Unit 11, 12 Klongtoey Klongtoey, Bangkok 10110

I asked for directions from the MRT station's staff and he told me to go up 1 level and turn right... walk 100m. Total nonsense! He should have said he didn't know and asked someone else who knew. I even showed him the true coffee card to let him know I wanted to go to true coffee... Tough luck..

Enough of my ranting.. Anyone knows how to get there? Is it in the Sukhumvit MRT station or outside it? Is it in that "Metro Mall"?

  8. At the end of the day, marriage between 2 people can work if they both look beyond the petty issues of race and what others think. If you ask me, I would marry a Caucasian woman against my Chinese parents' wishes even though I know they would disapprove and be unhappy. At the end of the day, I believe I should do what makes me happy.

  9. I am interested in visiting Siam Park City: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Siam_Park

Are there any buses/shuttle services that go to Siam Park City from the Siam BTS region?

What is the entrance fee for Siam Park City if I don't want to buy a package tour? Some cost 1000 THB and others 2000 THB ++ inclusive of transport, lunch and the entrance fee.

Is there dual pricing for Thais and foreigners? I look Thai and can speak a little Thai. Any advice on where to get the tickets?

  10. Think of them as a little closer in values to their western counterparts, and more than likely even a little more conservative.. :D How many Thai chinese birds have u ever seen walking round with a fat old foreign slob for example?

How many birds in the west still carry on with this no sex before marriage malarky? I'd say the percent of Thai chinese girls who want to do it this way would massively outnumber that of the west. :)

I had to wait, like 18 months, but it was well worth it. For this farang, good things don't come easily or quickly. The average Thai /Chinese single 30 year old woman has had WAY less sexual partners than the average 30 year old single caucasion woman...its just the Western media portrays it just the opposite to fuel the fires of racism.. :D

It is rare to see a young Chinese lady with an old Westerner.

Firstly, they do not trust these men. Most Chinese ladies cannot accept "open relationships" and the typical impression of an old Westerner guy in an Asian country is a playboy who has been divorced 3 times and is looking for loads of young women for fun.

Secondly, they do not need to be with a man for financial reasons. Thirdly, they may have younger and highly eligible men chasing them everyday. Lastly, it may not be seen as an honourable thing for a young Chinese lady to marry an old man. It gets more complicated if the man is a Westerner because they tend to stereotype them.

For some Thais, being with a Westerner is like having a trophy. For most Chinese, it is the opposite because a lot of people will stereotype the Westerner and the lady that is hanging out with the Westerner, which would cause the Chinese to "lose face".

  11. My Chinese mum used to tell my sisters to find a rich boyfriend. She would disapprove of the middle class guys my sisters used to date. My maternal grandmother once kicked out my maternal grandfather when he wasn't making as much money as she wanted. I was raised and grew up with women like that and it is difficult to marry a woman who was raised in such a family.

I have also been told by a Chinese Thai guy that he knows some Chinese women here who told him that they want a guy who earns XXX,XXX THB per month in order for them to marry him. My friend said he wants to try to earn more money to get women like that. However, I asked him what would happen if you run into financial trouble and don't earn the minimum salary required by that woman? Would that woman kick you out like what my grandmother did? He had no answer for my question.

  12. Marrying a Chinese lady involves marrying their whole family. Although it is less likely that their family will ask you to pay to repair their house and crap like that, they do expect other things from you. This varies from family to family. The ugly side of Chinese culture is some families tend to be overly materialistic and if you do not measure up financially, you might not get accepted.

It is best if you can find a Chinese woman that does not really listen to their crappy family's nonsense. Most Chinese people listen to their parents and try to please them even if they ask them to do nonsensical things.

  13. I suggest you interfere if you have some training in self-defence. If you have been trained to defend against knifes, punches, kicks and guns pointed at you like Krav Maga or Kali or whatever... MAYBE you might consider stepping in if the situation seems OK to you.

Most regular guys have no training in martial arts/self defence so they fight like schoolboys - They don't know how to evade attacks or block or strike properly. Trying to save someone when you are not sure that you can save yourself is extremely dangerous and stupid.

  14. I am Chinese Singaporean but I find Chinese Thais more Thai than Chinese. Most Chinese in Thais are Teochews, who are known among Chinese people to be show offs. They can be very "class conscious" people and only hangout with people they consider to be high class enough for them. Usually, they marry other Chinese and avoid the darker-skinned Thais.

The typical Chinese Thai lady would be a spoilt brat. They live with their parents and their parents provide everything that they can possibly want. With this type of upbringing, you would not expect her to be independent. They want someone to give them the life that they want.

My other gripe about Chinese women in general is they tend to me immature compared to Western women. Put a 25 year old farang lady beside a 25 year old Chinese lady and you will see a huge difference. Maybe I am too used to it but for farangs, it may be exotic and attractive. I just can't stand grown women speaking in squeeky voices trying to act like little girls and carrying cute stuff like hello kitty crap etc etc. It seems like a typical 25 year old farang woman would have grown out of crap like that before they hit 15...

Despite all of this.. I recently met a Chinese or should I say Taiwanese lady. She has none of the crap I have mentioned. This lady's special. It is possible to meet nice, independent and mature Chinese women but they are RARE.
