  1. .

"My TV only sees about 75. There is a lot of unused space at the end of the band though, about 30%."

Mine found 67 out of a possible 120, but I had to delete 42 of those due to poor video quality or unwanted programming content-- leaving only 25 viewable and I'll probably need to delete more as I learn more about the content and quality.

Seems that Sophon's claimed "100 channels" is really only an inconvenient re-shuffling and essentially a worthless exercise in futility . . . TiT

    .

At Nirun we pay 380, up last month from 300. Did not do autotune yet, but I'm sure the new channels are not worth looking at. I'd like Star World but will probably get more Russian.

  2. I never use hotel room safes. There is a scam used world-wide that lets hotel workers open your safe if it has numbered buttons.

They first clean all the buttons, touch their finger to the side of their nose and then rub all the buttons with this light "grease".

When the safe is used, they can see which four numbers have been used. With only four numbers, it doesn't take long for them to find the combination using trial and error.

Just clean all the buttons before you use it.

  3. It always seems to be the white man that gets scammed. Why would anyone give this creep 10,000 without checking his credentials and background ? As the Indians and Thai's always say....stupid rich white people. They cant understand where the stupid white man gets all his money from.

You missed the story about Thais losing millions by buying chemicals that turn black paper into money? How dumb/greedy were they?

  4. Hi I`ve had a DTAC dongle for about a year now, found it to be stable although slow.

I spoke with a DTAC rep today at Tesco Lotus, it apears they also now have 3G, 650 baht a month plus tax unlimited use.

    I have a question :)

My DTAC dongle/package is too slow for me although as said stable and connects OK.

Will I see much of an improvement by getting a 3G dongle & SIM ?

I don`t really understand these things but would like quicker, not too bothered about cost.

    Thanks.

I am using True H+ 3G near Big C Extra on Pattaya Klang. I have an AT&T aircard. Response is much faster than Edge, no drops so far.

  5. Yet more bad publicity for Thailands tourist industry. These jet-ski scams have gone on for years, it's high time the TOT put a stop to the outrageous behaviour of these jet -ski operators.

Yes, but the publicity is mostly within Thailand itself in local or regional publications, so unless you follow the goings on in Thailand you don't hear of these scams...

Perhaps if someone created a list of links to a few dozen of these stories and sent them to the Associated Press, perhaps these pirates would get some international attention... :whistling:

Send it to Pegas, they bring in all the Russians and other soviets (sic).

  6. I got True-H 3G SIM for my AT&T aircard a few days ago. Near Big C Extra I am getting 4 out of 5 bars, and very fast speeds (compared to Edge). No waiting for each page to load, just click and go. I got the 1GB download package, 349 baht/month, SIM was 49 baht, pay the bill at end of month, 3 month contract to start, renewable monthly. Over 1GB I will pay 2 baht per MB. Other plans for 2GB etc.

Just ran the TV test with Singapore:

    Last Result:

Download Speed: 945 kbps (118.1 KB/sec transfer rate)

Upload Speed: 1347 kbps (168.4 KB/sec transfer rate)

    Latency: 157 ms

  7. Next time you should actually order some CHINESE food...you know, the stuff some 1.5 billion Chinese people in China actually eat and not some bastardized concoctions that people eat back in Blighty or the USA

Amusingly the western countries love "Chinese food" yet if presented with actual Chinese food the would refuse to eat it as its "not proper" chinese food !!!!

Well, that's not really true. In the US where I lived we had 2 kinds of Chinese restaurants. One was the fast food place, and yes, made for western tastes. But we have many authentic places, my favorites being Szechuan.

  8. I'll check it out thanks.

I haven't seen anyone on a bike west of Sukhumvit that didn't have a deathwish,

The gym is a good time-killer.

The gym doesn't take so much time, but I find it lifts my mood and gets my energy level up for the day. That and B-complex vitamins.
