It's good she spent a night in jail with no bail allowed but then I wonder how another person arrested for premeditated murder can get bail.

Hopefully David Petreaus will get this position

The article I read showed a dramatic decline in domestic currency reserves since the coup but I don't think foreign currency reserves were affected so much

It's easy to break....My Apple 2 watch just fell out of my gym locker today and the screen is very broken but watch still functioning. If the watch landed on its backside it would not have broken.

The system is really jammed now....with expansion they will need additional train cars but I don't read about any purchases.....the German train cars for BTS and MRT would have a long lead time.

I hope that next time they buy directly from manufacturer...no need for a Thai middle man which just increases cost and probability of corruption

Yes I have postpaid with Dtac and I am in the same situation as you. They deduct payments from my bank account

Not a good look on the face of it. Perhaps he should try and relax and look at things a different way. Perhaps he should treat any theft as an extra "service" charge. If she did take 450,000 baht that is about US$13,000. Over 5 years that is $2,600/year or $216/month or $7/night = 3 beers. That's pretty cheap for a washing machine, cook, dishwasher, housekeeper and provider of "other" services.
He should remember where he is and take more care of his ATM card or at least his PIN number.
This incident demonstrates how it is a good idea to have 2 THB accounts and keep most of the money in the account without an ATM card.

Maybe those over 50 should have physical exam first if they are not used to exercise

Why does this have to be publicized ? They should be able to get a warrant, execute it and inform the public after the Abbott is in custody.

What amazes me in Bangkok is that they collect garbage/trash every night whereas this is done weekly in USA. I suppose they would need big dumpsters to collect less frequently here.

They have been slowly coming back to Silom too, but just one side of the sidewalk in an area near Patpong. Strangely though a large sign was erected about two weeks ago (in Thai and English) announcing the return of the street vendors to the sidewalks but I have not seen much change since the sign appeared near BCH on Silom Rd.

Just say NO Sex....they make this offer in the hope it will bring extra tip.

I wonder how old this plane is

The government is blocking CNN weather forecasts which mention the flooding in the south. This has been happening for a while.

There are no "yachts" in that picture !

Prayut wants the schools to teach morality. This is the job of the parents and many here are failing miserably in meeting this responsibility.

I can go online from anywhere to my USA bank website and transfer up to $10,000 via ACH for $10 to my FX dollar account at Bangkok Bank. (Bangkok Bank fees extra)

The number one problem here is poor law enforcement and the related corruption that goes with it. If Prayut fixed the Police Dept. (Admittedly an insurmountable task) he would find many problem areas would get better. I have lived in Silom for 12 yr and I have never seen a policeman patrolling the sidewalks- where are they hiding ? They only show up for special efforts/events and then you will see many more than needed and they just stand around.

Those arrested for drunk driving during holiday periods should be sentenced to a year in jail. Eventually other people will realize it's not worth the risk and I'm sure the problem would be reduced in the future.

In Thailand it is almost impossible to get debts discharged. Banks would get judgements against you and have your pay attached until the debt has been paid. Bankruptcy here is much different than in the West. I imagine that those owing money to loan sharks are even under more pressure. Household debt in Thailand is truly a staggering problem.

Ban tinted windows on new car purchases and remove all film from cars within 30 days or face 5000 baht spot fines.
Once they are clearly visible, eyeball to eyeball and no longer a faceless part of an anonymous speeding car, they'll finally get the message.
In first world countries dark tinting is not allowed for driver's seat or seat next to driver

In the New York website they state they accept local police reports too which is what I have always used in the past. (state report not required).
in this website under Tourist Visa there is a 6 month option which must be METV although it should certainly be listed separately.
i moved from Connecticut to Florida last year. Can I still obtain visas from the New York Consulate where I have never had a problem ?

The article claimed that vans were not meant to be used for passengers which I find to be a ridiculous statement but I always thought that they carried too many people and that there should be space for luggage in the rear. They really need to leave look at the safety of the gas tanks mounted in the rear too.
All smiles as Bangkok top cops descend on Patpong and Thaniya Road

Traffic offenses in Silom are a big problem but some sidewalk areas have become difficult to navigate as street vendors have returned to the areas where there is the least amount of space. I have never seen police patrolling sidewalks in Silom. Surely some must be assigned to this area-where are they hiding ?
Also there has has been a construction project (probably elevator for Saladeng Station) on a Silom Rd Sidewalk for the past 18 months...only one person can pass by on the sidewalk at one time and of course street vendors have set up shop in this narrow passageway too !
