There is only safety in numbers when using zebra crossings in Bangkok. If enough people gather together before crossing the traffic will usually stop. Otherwise the situation gets worse year by year, especially with motorcycles.

They must know the number of overstays by country (wish they would publish) which should enable authorities to be more careful letting people from these countries into Thailand.

When I got my annual flu shot in Bangkok last month my doctor told me it is only 35% effective this year so I think there will be many people sick with the flu.

Just once I would like to read that they found and shut down manufacturing operations for these drugs. If most are coming across the border from Myanmar then it’s likely Thai officials are complicit. This will go on and on until the problem is eradicated at its source.

China has enough clout to force a meeting between the North Korean dictator and senior Chinese foreign affairs officials. This would be a good first step toward the negotiating table

There are already well established camps set up to hold previous Myanmar refugees so why can't they be accepted and sent there ? Since there are so many jobs Thais do not want to do you would think they could provide productive employment for many of these unfortunate people.

That is incorrect information. You have no amount of days to get another extension. The extension ended as soon as the 30 day stamp was done. You have to start all over again by getting a new non-o visa entry and then apply for another extension.
My O-A visa issued in USA will expire will expire July 18. If I return to Thailand before that date I know I can get extension of stay. Would I also have the option of going to CW and getting re-entry permit only which would give me an additional year on the original visa ? Less hassle than extension of stay and I spend only 6 months a year here now. I am used no getting new visa every other year.

I wonder how many of the targeted individuals are here on overstay.

People being held on murder charges should not be granted bail.

Maybe his BF does not want to move to Dubai

I checked Seat Guru....he is at the very rear of a 747 in the middle of a center row

The first day brings the realization you are no longer here as a tourist and you must search around for goods and services. It is quite different coming here as a tourist for a week or two vs. living here.

Lots of BKKB expat customers have online banking with them -- without having a work permit.
But I believe they sometimes tend to restrict online banking to those with longer stay entry status, like year-long, as opposed to tourist visa or visa-exempt entry. But I also think their handling of this may vary widely branch to branch.
This happened to me a few years ago at BB but they let me submit application for Internet Banking anyway...at the bottom I wrote note that I would take my business else if I was not approved......3 days later I had Internet Banking and I don't work here.

It's been about 2 1/2 years since the Express Train was running....I would love to know what happened to those trains. Were they converted to City Line trains or are they sitting in a rail yard rotting after having many parts removed to keep the other trains running since the SRT did not schedule routine maintenance on a timely basis.

Thai people in general are far too gullible and very easily attracted to "Get rich Schemes". There should be a mandatory money management course offered in high school to give students the basics. They certainly aren't going to learn this stuff from their parents (in most cases).

At least he didn't do a runner !

Why can't the police check all the bars in their districts to see if they have proper operating licenses ? It seems that most of the time when they have raids there s no license !

I thought Lao Central Airlnes went out of business quite a while ago. Before they had one old 737 with flights from BKK to Vientiane and from Vientiane to Luang Prabang.

Many delays implementing this promised convenience. It's starting to be worse than the Pattaya tunnel

Presumably many of the passengers are connecting to the old MRT but still no mention of adding cars to the original 3 car trains which are getting overcrowded. The BTS is getting 46 new cars next year so their trains should be 5 cars long.

Send him home ! Wonder how many people are here on Overstay.

October was the timeframe when common card was supposed to be used on BTS, MRT, Airport Link and SOME buses. There have been numerous promises to provide this card during the last several years for BTS and MRT but it looks like another commitment won't be met.

The government doesn't have this kind of money to be throwing around. These collectors have known that their days were numbered for at least a year. Some (if qualified) should become bus drivers since there is a big shortage for that position.

I don't think there will necessarily be a money trail here. Having her gone reduces the possibility of significant political conflict if she was actually in jail. I think they just turned their backs and let her go or they actually helped her leave.
Two years on, ‘no chair Wednesday’ debate rages on

They stopped chair service on Wednesdays, they limited chair areas to the point vendors have half of the chairs they had in the past at Jomtien and now they will not even be allowed to sell beer. How are these poor people supposed to make a living ? Seeing chairs and umbrellas piled up on Wednesdays is not exactly a great sight either...really stupid rules !
