No need for onward flight with a 60 day tourist Visa - Chill brother.
I had tourist visa when I traveled from USA in July on SWISS. They demanded onward flight but fortunately I had booked trip to Cambodia and they entered all the details into their computer.

I arrived here in July from USA with a cut in knee cartilage . I consulted 2 doctors, both of whom wanted to operate and put me on crutches for a month. The price at BCH was very reasonable at 250,000 b but the crutches were a big stumbling block. I found a great physical therapist at BCH and feel ok now but not perfect….this will keep me going till I return to USA early next year where I can look at more options . Your problem might be more severe than mine.

I use USA credit card for Grab transport in Bangkok. Very convenient and you just hop out, adding a tip later if so desired.

I am there now. Taxi from Silom. Very quick. Saw no water problem at all.

I arrived July 4 and already have 90 day Non O retirement visa. I can get 12 month extension on Sept. 9 or later but am concerned about 90 day reporting because I don't want any more extra trips to CW. I have read here that first report must be done in person but on Immigration website it states :The first application for extension of stay by the foreigner is equivalent to the notification of staying in the Kingdom over 90 days. Does my extension qualify ? If necessary I could wait till Sept. 19 and get extension and 90 day reporting done on same day.

I was looking at getting a Non O in Phnom Penh but they require processing time which causes you to be there for a week (Non O only). Tourist visas there very quick.

Agreed. In Indonesia where I frequent regularly, in large stores they have checkouts with "cash only'' so can only use cash.
I haven't seen any in Thailand, not saying they don't exist.
Sizzler was the latest restaurant I have seen to go Cashless Only and the waitress pointed to a small notice on this before I was seated.
-
One change I have noticed since I returned from Bangkok a month ago is that some restaurants (including some fast food) have started to have cashless transactions only. This was not a problem for me as I just figured out how to do with with Bangkok Bank app but I am wondering how real tourists will handle this as they won’t have Thai bank accounts and may not wish to use their credit cards here. Overseas friends are asking me about this.

Sorry but you can't claim that you prepared carefully, but at the same time didn't realize that there's an under consideration period. I've never heard of a non-immigrant visa being issued on the spot, there's always an under consideration period.
Same with the bank letter. When was the last time anyone didn't need one? Having to go one floor down to obtain one also doesn't exactly amount to a bad experience, more like a very minor inconvenience.
All that being said, thanks for your report and I mean it. It will help others to come prepared.
I used the official requirement list provided by Ubon Joe which is very detailed and there is no mention of a bank letter for the initial 90 day visa.
if they want to change these rules, fine but then the written rules should be amended. Dealing with Immigration here is the worst aspect of living in Thailand.- 2

You shouldn't have to make an appt for pick up, since you have the date. Just turn up with PP and wait for them to stamp it... or not.
Thanks. I was wondering about that

Then this should be listed as a requirement so there is no confusion

Today I went to CW to apply for a 90 day Non O retirement visa. I had carefully prepared my documents but was told I needed a bank letter in addition to the official receipt from Bangkok Bank which is very different from their list of requirements - I know the letter is required for extension only. I spoke to a supervisor who knew I was right but didn’t want the IO to lose face so I was forced to go downstairs for bank letter. Then another surprise- I expected to receive visa but was given Under Consideration so I have to return August 10. I guess I just make another Non Immigrant visa appointment for that day. Will have to delay knee surgery as I don’t want to go there on crutches. After using O-A visas for 14 years getting a Non O visa is a pain but I have the money in the bank so no need for a 35,000b agent.

On another forum I read that some IO in Pattaya is insisting on 2 month seasoning on 800,000 b for the initial non O retirement visa. Can someone please confirm that this is not the case at CW ? I will be using my FX dollar account and will be a week shy of 2 months.
-
Regarding bank books, I am about to apply for my initial O retirement visa and the money is currently in my FX dollar account and I will get the book updated the day I go to CW. I also have BB receipt for the $25,000 deposit and document from the sending bank as well. In my bank book here it is noted as an IR transaction. I trust this will be acceptable to immigration?

First movie was rushed and not so good. The second movie (The Cave I think) was excellent. Ron Howard is very talented so will be interesting to see what he does differently.

Not sure where to post this. Before leaving USA I needed to have warranty repair done on one of my hearing aids but it did not come back on time so they shipped it to me in Bangkok via DHL and now Customs is demanding 3,454 baht for duty. I have the original bill of sale and matching hearing aid with me. Do I have any recourse to get this charge dropped ? DHL is supposed to talk to Customs but I know how those things go. I do not know value entered by shipper which should have been ZERO.

I arrived last week on tourist visa and have appointment next week at CW to change to Non-O for retirement. One of the requirements is to show receipt for 3 months of rent. I just arrived so have naturally paid only one month. How do I get around this ?
-
Since TM6 is no longer used does this present a problem for the person setting up my TM 30 online ? I am going to office in my building to get this done tomorrow and don’t want to run into a roadblock because I have no TM 6.

Does anyone know where an undocumented Myanmar person with no ID can get a booster shot in Bangkok ? A friend received 2 shots in Myanmar but I suspect they were Chinese vaccines which make the booster shot more important

Airport was over capacity when it opened in September 2006. What I want to know is where is the third runway ? They supposedly have space for 4 but a third runway would be a primary part of any expansion.
-
Came in Monday morning on SWISS and they handed them out but the Immigration Officer said no longer needed and did not look at it.

Flying from Miami to Bangkok on Swiss Business Class today. Return to USA Feb 2023. I got tourist visa with plan to get Non-O retirement in Bkk or Cambodia. If I did not have ticket for onward travel within 60 days I would have been refused. Better to be safe than sorry. Desk agent was very competent too .
