  1. I live in South Florida when not in Thailand. Route 95 is under constant construction 12 months a year. The speed limit is 70 but most drive 80 which is usually ok. The problem is with those driving 90-95 who zig zag across lanes to keep up their speed. Drivers in Florida often change lanes quickly, cutting in front of other drivers with no signal. I would not consider driving in Thailand though.

OMG, Nid sends money from her sex upcountry, those people up there are pimps? Mom, dad, brothers, sisters, and others; they are all pimps? Hope none of that money customers give her gets in the coffers of monks (I suspect it does), heck she even paid a no helmut fine once.

A pimp is usually a middle man who makes the arrangements and collects a daily bar fee. Often in Thailand there are Mamasans who fill this role.

  3. A Middle Eastern sultan (or equivalent) wanted to buy one of the A-340’s about 7 years ago but the offer was rejected- presumably because the plane was on the books for more than the offer so that a loss would have to be realized. There were 10 A340’s but the Thai Air Force took one a few years ago. There is absolutely no market at all for this model plane; they are parked and stored all over the world.

I remember being at Lumpini Night Bazaar when the 2006 coup occurred. All of a sudden the vendors were pulling down their shutters and closing up shop. My Thai friend was called home and I returned home in Silom in the rain. TV news stations were blocked and the streets were full of tanks the next morning. Was also there for 2014 coup but that one was no big surprise.

  5. As if things cannot get worse It was just announced that Siam Bioscience will be able to give Thailand with only 5 million vaccines a month so that they can supply other Asian countries with promised vaccines. This will create a shortage of 25 million vaccines as they were supposed to supply 10 million a month from July through November, before reverting back to 5 million.

I'd be interested if you find anything out on this.   So if Medicare won't pay, what about Medicare supplement?   I guess I'll know all this by end of the year as I'm on Medicare and some sort of supplement as of Feb 2022.   Good questions to ask when I'm signing up.

The Medicare supplement plan will only cover visits/procedures approved by Medicare so you will have zero coverage outside the USA. Some think Medicare is cheap too but this is not the case if you have a really good income as payments are indexed to your income. What really galls me is that the Thai health insurance has to be effective for the length of my O-A visa so I will be paying for 5-6 months extra a year as I spend half of the year in USA.  I have used O-A visa since 2006 so it is my understanding I could not arrive in Thailand visa exempt and apply for a type O visa based on retirement after arrival in Thailand.

  7. Putting aside the pandemic for a moment the third runway is probably the first expansion that should have been planned (before new built terminal building) since Thailand airport opened in 2006. One reason besides capacity is that the runways have needed frequent maintenance and with a third runway you can be sure that at least 2 of them can always be operative.
