I used to belong to a squash club.
Every week we would club together and buy a bottle of squash.

I see the collective noun for prisoners must be a 'cluster'.
'as many as 3,929' It makes you wonder if they pick a random number to make it seem more realistic? Or perhaps it was accurately counted.
Real life is more surprising:
The height of Mount Everest was calculated to be exactly 29,000 ft high, but was publicly declared to be 29,002 ft in order to avoid the impression that an exact height of 29,000 feet was nothing more than a rounded estimate. Waugh is therefore wittily credited with being "the first person to put two feet on top of Mount Everest".

Then what happens to the cars? Auctioned off, misappropriated by officials?
Perhaps these speed merchants should find a different agenda, like the maximum number of power poles they can bring down in one go? Any survivor could win a holiday in a covid-free prison.

It didn't matter whether the victim was Thai or a foreigner, the army was doing this to ease the burden of difficult funeral arrangements for families and everything was done free of charge.
While it's good the military appear to be helping out here, I'm interested in why they are - did he have some links to the army?
How do they choose who they will help, given that the funerals are carried out for free?

I posted in a separate thread that yesterday the road around a local lake that a lot of people use for exercising was suddenly blocked to cars, motorbikes and cyclists. At each block point 6ft signs in English and Thai stating COVID restriction rules and vehicle access near the beach blocked off. Very similar to the total lockdown last year.
the funny thing is that the authorities are able to do this so as to be ready to receive tourists, but not to protect their own citizens. ????
Interesting. Blocked to cyclists. That comes under 'taking exercise', when mask wearing is excluded, although was last month. Another day, another story:

This is particularly true for those doing GCSE.Granddad to grandson: What subject do you like the least at school?
Grandson: History.
Granddad: Why, I used to love history when I was at school.
Grandson: Yes, but there wasn't so much of it then.

good point.
what percentage of people who own a motorbike get into an accident? i'm guessing it's pretty high.
I don't know that specific figure.
Of the 60-ish deaths a day normally on the roads here 80% of them are motorcyclists.

So T.A.T. staff are going to work???? from home, they might as well be at home, because when they go to the office, they just come up with fantastic figures for the number of tourists who are not coming.
'Working' ???? from home, it must surely increase the opportunity for naps.
If they did that after a big cheese sandwich, it's bound to increase the chance of 'nightmare' predictions more than usual.

I'm sure Eva Air never imagined their name would be linked to anything in such a surreal way.

Sometimes it comes down to the individual officer and how he is feeling that day.
I carry a mask with me. If asked to do so, I will just put it on. Can’t see that being a problem in Udon, particularly outside the ring road
I carry a mask the same, but more really for use if I go into a shop to buy a drink.
Last year I cycled along the ring road past plenty of police, none of who ever tried to stop me. Perhaps they were worried they might catch covid from the ferang.
The thing I can imagine is not being asked to put it on, but a policeman thinking he's going to make some money out of it now it's compulsory to wear one (but not clear about the exceptions).
I've never worn a face mask while cycling so far, but we'll have to see what happens.

Thanks TallGuyJohn. I saw that, I was hoping you might have some more detailed info from elsewhere. I wonder if that means the exceptions may be local?
I remember last year during the time we had the curfew, a senior doctor from the MOPH said specifically not to wear a face mask when exercising, as it reduced the flow of air into the lungs just when you need it most.
I was hoping those important details might have been incorporated nationally. It does seem illogical to me to do that on an area-by-area basis.

There's a nationwide face mask wearing rule in effect still for indoor and outdoor public places. If there's going to be any exceptions to that, they're going to be done at the individual province level.
Seems a bit contradictory to have a nationwide rule with local exceptions.
Would you happen to have details/links to the nationwide rules (that don't apply everywhere - haha!)
Thanks.

Same questions have arisen about things like parks, fitness centers status, etc... I think those kinds of restrictions originated from the BMA, so I guess we're going to have to wait and see what they say now that the national government has changed their rules.
But thus far, AFAICT, the only thing that's really changed for Bangkok as a result of this is the relaxation of rules for indoor dining, and the national change mentioned above about face mask wear in meetings in certain situations. With the trends in case numbers for Bangkok, I doubt they're going to be doing much relaxing of regs.
OK.
I'm in Udon and would like to know the 'official' (ha ha!) position about having to wear a mask when cycling.
Usually it will depend on who you talk to, what they had for lunch, whether their wife gave them earache before they left home.
Hence hoping for a written national rule on this. There again I know where we are...
Phuket have said in writing (in Engrish anyway) no mask required when cycling.
A friend on Ko Phangna was told to put his mask on when cycling. There again, there's no 'r' in the month.
