  1. Can anyone tell me the dates of the main w/end of the elephant show @ surin in november? I would like to see, then carry on to the thai/camb border then on to siem riep, has anyone done this route by bus/taxi &good hotels in surin ? thanking you for your help

    songhklasid.

  2. Has anyone ever traveled this stretch, from pakse southern laos to siem riep cambodia, I know lao airlines fly 2/3 times a week, but its $200 US return, I was wondering the distance? & bus or taxi or is it one of those horror journeys you only seem to get in cambodia

    regards songhklasid.

  3. That sounds a beauty, I'd get a open ticket, stop off @ udon, a few days in nong-khai, then on to the paradise of ubon, then home to sankhaemphaeng, chaing-mai, what a great 3 week holiday that would be, ah dream on,Is somebody in airline industry reading this.

  4. I just re-checked thai site :happy the way 2 asia: promotion, return BKK-UBP 2160 BAHT + taxes, anyway the trend is in the right direction. in aust with nat. carrier that would be 10000baht.

  5. I flew from Ubon Ratchathani to Bangkok with AirAsia two weeks ago, using I ticket that I purchased two weeks prior to that. All-in price was 382 baht which included one checked bag and a pre-booked seat. No matter what deals TG is currently running, I'll bet they don't come close to that.

Price all up with thai for 4 domestic flights was 6000 baht,1500 each journey, as I said this time it suited to avoid a o/nite stay in BKK. Why cant an airline even twice a week, fly CNX to udon thani, then to ubon ratchathani &return, I'm sure it would attract interest.

lets hear your views, regards songhklasid.

  6. At the moment thai domestic flights are comparable if not cheaper than the lcc's,I am flying CNX-UBP,chaing-mai-ubon rat. via BKK, thai has more flights, baggage checked right thru, more convenient times. go to thai booking site, look for special deals, designed to attract more custom, they won me this time.to do the same with A.A I have to o/nite in BKK, because A.A. have 1 flt only to ubon, early morning, with no connecting flt from CNX.

  7. I saw a post some months ago, cant find it now, on the slight local variations in language in isaan area, I can speak reasonable thai, but wanted to impress friends on my next visit to ubon.

    regards songkhlasid.

    P.S. 20baht/ yeesip baht/ sou baht/ northern dialect

thanking you for any help. :)

  8. Arriving on the Air Asia flight due in at 0830.

Do buses/vans etc. run to downtown Ubon and how much do they charge?

    Thanks.

Taxis, hirecars,80 baht to most hotels,

  9. IMHO if you're coming for a holiday and not for an extended time just leave the laptop at home and enjoy life and disconnect yourself for the holiday. If you really need to keep in touch there are enough cafes around to check and send emails. Its just another bag to carry and worry about and hassle with in the airports and you will only use it a few percent of the time you're here.

I was thinking the same myself, I dont like lugging & worrying about something that's not neccessary, also the place i am thinking of staying @ in ubon offers free internet connection, could I get stung with download or usage charges, could cost more than the room charge, ah still pondering.

    thanks for your help fella's

  10. I posted before but got no reply, I've got a laptop & was thinking of bringing it to thai on my next trip in july, what r the pitfalls with free internet advertised @ some hotels/rooms, do i get wireless connection local? I admit i'm a novice (laptops) Im even limited on my P.C.

  11. I have just purchased a dell laptop, I was thinking of bringing it along on my next visit, maybe to look at new areas to visit , play music, visit websites, what do i do regards internet, what internet service is good etc. I am a novice with travelling computers,I am still mastering this 1.

    thankyou for any help.songhklasid.

  12. G"day all, I was seeking some advice on (1st time) thai passport applications outside of BKK, there is a regional office in ubon can applications be processed here or any other regional office for that matter, or do I have to travel to BKK like the stone age efficiency you sometimes come across in L O S. I would like to take G/F on week,s holiday to laos.

    thanking you songhklasid.

  13. 1 reason I beleive (to water accidents) is that a lot of europeans & asians dont know shit about the ocean, swimming in it, reading conditions, i.e. where rips or undertows are likely or do exist. Most aussie males grew up on our beaches, swimming, surfing, spearfishing, fishing, where've all probably had a scare along the way, but learned from it. Anyway my bet he,s a european or yank.

by the way my condolences to his family

    regards songhklasid.

  14. I would go for it, young & pretty and she guenuine likes you, but make sure your not subbsidising the 7/11 job, keep her working at least part time & you pay costs & bonuses & reap the benifits.half your luck, I got a similiar set-up in ubon, but can only get back twice a year.

    regards songkhlasid.

  15. G'day everyone,I completed a 60hr course in pattaya (got a certificate) over 2 years maybe 3 visits,I still work in aust,I know lots of words, meanings, can get by,have heard " put thai geng" on maak maak occasions, What I do is listen to cd's repetivly travelling to & from work in aus, it's funny how some words stick, But it all goes out the window when I enjoy too many cleansing singhas when back in country, ah well it's all enjoyable.

    regards songkhlasid.

  16. I know what you mean, I hope i'm wrong, but expierience & common dog pond can put suspicions in your mind,My g/f of 1 year has lost 2 phones when she's without it's hard to contact her, so she runs her own race, the other form of contact can be irregular (sister's phone) @ school or friends will not answer me, if it rings & she's home I get to speak to g/f maybe 2 times a week,is this an old trick ,maybe stored phone or sell?any similiar expieriences?

    regards songhklasid.

  17. I saved my mia-noi from the demons of pattaya, she now lives happily with family in isaan, the family welcomed me, I explained my situation, #1 thai wife in australia,I visit #2 as much as I can,it's all good. albeit a bit of a balancing act, ah where's that lotto win.

    regards songhklasid.

  18. When & where & who are the blue shirts, they appeared out of nowhere to stir the trouble @ pattaya, Thaksin paid thugs? The only good thing out of it there might be some splendid deals done wiyh the young ladies if you are lucky enough to be in country @ the moment.

    regards songhklasid
