  1. Thankyou all, winnin the kwai coi ithanon, Is it accesible by road, or a mountain hike, which can take the shine off it,sounds kike either doi suthep, or ithanon, Now what about that #1 thai (northern cuisine) restaurant.

    thanking all regards songhklasid.B)

  2. Yes your,e right about the prices I priced a pair of water buffalo horns, on a wood base varnished up, @ K.P.over 2000 baht, I bought 6 pair of same thing @ hilltribe village on the way from tha-ton to chaing-rai by longtail boat for the pricely sum of 1200baht,200baht each, I give K.P. a wide berth.

    regards songhklasiB)d )

  3. I will be entertaining my G/F from ubon, 1st time to C.M. in december, what would anyone recommend as a must see in 2 days, I was thinking of doi suthep, or is it too touristy, can you see anything in the pollution? Open to ideas, thanking all.

  5. I have found the best listen to tapes/c,d. whilst driving to work in aust are by far the DLC products, not being biast but apart from the aust version of translation, they are good, & jam packed full of words verbs to repeat,Now the problem is I bought auto thai 1 &2 @ a hotel bookstore, I think they were on shelf for some time, & 1 jams, 1tape came off spool, Does anyone know which store sells this product , or anyone outthere who can copy for me ( I will pay for) in country june 7- july 7.

    regards songhklasid.

  6. Hi guys, just checking in for update on paradise ubon, no more burnings, curfew finished, only 7 more sleeps but whose counting !

    regards songhklasid.

  7. I done the trip last year (nov) from surin to chong thom, crossed the border, Had a taxi waiting to take us to the 2 dragons resort(60 $ U.S.) @ siem riep, the girls @ the 2 dragons organised a local taxi ( village close to chong thom) to do round trip as was cheaper than taxi x-siem riep, we returned same way, the most horrendous part was the mini-bus border - surin jam packed, no air-con skip this one if you can.

  8. Good morning all from east coast/ aus, it's cold & rain, Just enquiring about the situation in ubon, I'll be there in 16 days( not that I'm counting) for a month, sidetrip to laos, I'll be travelling to kong-chiam, bus to amnat, nakon phanom, Is travelling being slowed/ checked ?

    thanking you in advance

    regards songhklasid

  11. My house is near sankhaemphaeng, thaksin's birthplace, east of C.M. when thaksin was in power, the elderley received 500baht a month, the 30 baht health plan, cheap loans ( thats why there's so many taxi's in BKK) the one product, one village project, going strong in my local, can you see where the red's anger comes from, the puppet abhisit removed someof these benifits & turns the army on to his own people.

    regards songhklasid

  12. It makes me sad hearing of all the recent deaths,It is clear with his (puppet ahhisit) quick turnaround & show of aggression at the workers, whover is behind this has no intention of giving up power, my thai wife states the poison reaches to the top. NOW it is clearly a greed driven power base desparate not to relinques power at ANY cost against the workers the true backbone of this once great country (RED SHIRTS) A PEOPLE STRUGGLE, DAENG AMNAT!

    may peace & justice prevail.

    regards songhklasid

IT DISGUSTS HOW THE ARMY HAS BEEN TURNED ON THE PEOPLE

ONLY 2 LEADERS SHOWED LOVE FOR THE WORKERS OF THIS COUNTRY, HIS MAJESTY & THAKSIN.

  13. How are the whirlybirds working? I am considering that, but worry about introducing roof leaks!!!!

Personally I dont know but we have 2 in our aussie house, they work fine, the thai ones were twice the size & half the cost, I'll be back @ the thai house in nov , I,ll give a report then.

    regards songhklasid.

P.S. my next project is roof insulation ( the thick fibreglass bats like we have in aus) any suppliers around C.M.?

  14. My house in sankhaemphaeng (east of chiang-mai) is brick, rendered cement, Tinted windows, inside all tile floors, my wife's last trip back she installed 2 big whirlybirds ( wind powered extracter vents ) & the hardest of all was light coloured roof, I got looks like I just landed from mars, I choose biege colour for outside house, with a light green roof which of course reflects heat, I am sure if you do all of above & other people's ideas your'e on a winner, we just have air-con in main bedroom.

    regards songhklasid.

  15. I plan to "jobshare" in my professional position, which means effectively working 3 nonths a year for half my current salary in about 3 years, when my son is 18 & hopefully has a carreer path. What I propose is up to 6 weeks-2 months in thai, then back to aus roughly same period, I have a house in my wife's village east of C.Mai,enjoy the village life & travelling the region, whilst regaining reality checks back to work in aus. Only my son's age & bank debts are holding me back now ( i'll be 55 years of age when my plan hopefully fulfills) Any comments /help info welcomed,

    regards songhklasid.

  16. As you have thai partner, I would recommend either laitong hotel or pan house apartments, I prefer the latter, I'll be there june 7, in & out for the next month between trip to laos, close by the above are local markets, good restaurants so everyone is happy you don't need transport, can walk everywhere, as compare to nevada/ sunnee if big c & kentucky fried & mcdonalds is your go this will suit.

    regards songhklasid.

  17. Koh Lippe is my favorite. Get there by ferry to Koh Tarutao then ferry to Koh Lippe. Really away from it all, great beaches on the north and south sides, very little in way of tourists.

Yes Koh Lipe would be my pick, there are also other islands in the taratou heritage park, good seafood, snorkelling, crystal clear water.

    regards songhklasid
