  1. Looking to move to the area around Mukdahan and am looking for a 3/4 bedroom place with western kitchen and 2/3 bathrooms, large living area and study etc with a pool if possible.

    Budget about 5 million baht.

Can anyone tell us how we can go and look for such a property, I can not find any real estate agents listed in the area, and a Google search only produced a couple of places over budget!

Also how much would it cost to build something like the above with good quality materials and fittings on a piece of land we already have?

Recommendations of good builders in the area most welcome.

    Thanks

  2. We did the trip from Hua Hin to the Andaman Club via Ranong last week, its a long day but can be done.

We left HH about 6.30am and got back home about 9pm in the evening.

Very easy to find the Andaman Club pier we had just missed a boat so had a 40 minute wait for the next one, but you hand over your 850 baht and all the paperwork is done for you, you nip across on one of the Andaman Club boats takes about 10 minutes, hand over your passport and documents to the immigration guys at the landing pier and its all done in about 10 minutes, depending on the number of people who are also doing the border run, then you wait for a boat back to Ranong.

The worst part was the drive from Chumphon to Ranong the road is singe carriageway and very windy with lots of hills...... so if you get stuck behind something large then overtaking can be a bit difficult and dangerous!

Watch out for oncoming traffic on your side of the road!!!

Watch out for the road works etc at Chumphon you can easily miss the turn.

Hope you have a hassle free trip like we did.

    Cheers

  3. Thanks for the names and addresses it was the South East Pharmacy one that I was thinking of but could not remember its name..... old age, but its useful to know about Facino's as well, we have a small branch in HH but they only sell original Ramapril tablets which work out quite expensive, i am looking at generics such as Ramtace,Tritace,Ramicord,Mediram,Gempril,Corpril in 10 mg tablets.....

Sheryl : Have you any thoughts which one of the above generics would be best?

Mark 5335 : thanks for jogging my memory that was the one I was thinking of.

  4. I remember several posts on here about a good pharmacy in Bangkok that sells original and generic drugs at a very good price...... a lot cheaper than here in Hua Hin and several people said they travel up to Bkk once every 3 to 4 months to stock up on the drugs they require.

Can anyone please tell me the name and address and phone number of this pharmacy?

I believe they also supply a lot of the smaller local pharmacies as well.

    Thanks

  5. Thanks to everyone who has given good advice and places to buy a good drill, in the end we went back to MV and Home Pro this morning as we were in the area and I got a Bosch GSB 16 RE Professional which is on offer with a free carry pouch of tools - 3 screwdrivers, hammer, stanley type knife, adjustable spanner and a pair of pliers...... the drill has adjustable speed, with reverse as well and hammer action as well as a normal setting for wood/metal etc.

The power output is stated as 351 Watts

    Rated torque of 2.0 Nm

Rotational speed under load (max) 1,640

    Rated power input 701 watts

Chuck clamping range 1.5 mm to13 mm the drill bit I have does indeed fit this drill, so in fact as someone else already stated I did not need a chuck size larger than 13 mm.

Price 2,890.00 baht you can buy just the drill with out the additional tool pack for 300 baht less, but as I don't have many tools thought we would opt for that option.

    Thanks again for your help.

  6. We are trying to find out if there is a local supplier of TRS Pool Salt (25 kilo bags) in Hua Hin, this salt has a stabilizer built in so to speak, the manufacturer company is in Bangkok, but hopefully they might have a local distributor.

Any one know if any of the Hua Hin Pool Companies sell this product?

    Thanks

  7. Thanks to everyone who made constructive and helpful comments and advice, especially hhf, as i am not a DIY person your informative post was very useful

We looked in Homepro and the only Black and Decker had a chuck size too small..... I need one with 13mm and larger.

They had more expensive pro type drills for 6,000 plus don't want to pay that sort of money as I will probably only use it a few times a year.

Will look at the other places people have suggested and at the other brands such as Makita as well.

    Thanks again.

  8. I am currently here on a multi O visa based on our civil partnership obtained from Hull last year....on production of our civil partnership certificate.

This visa expires on the 23/11/2011 and we don't wish to return back to the UK so I am thinking the retirement visa might be the best option, as i am over 50 and can apply for that visa in Thailand.

My next 90 day border run is due on the 21/10/11, taking me up to the 21/1/12.

At what point should I go along to Immigration and fill in my application form for the retirement visa?

And on what date would the 800,000 baht have to be in my sole name account? i know its 3 months but 3 months from when?

Sorry if this is going over old ground but I need to get it straight in my head.

Is there any other alternative to a retirement visa in our situation.... i.e same sex relationship, my partner is Thai.

Thanks in advance for your help and patience

  9. I got an multi O visa based on our civil partnership certificate from Hull last November 2010.

My Thai partner had lived with me for 6 years in the UK and we decided to move to Thailand to live so I contacted the consulate in Hull and as has been stated already was told just send your original civil partnership certificate with your application form..... and sure enough a few days later it came back with a 12 month multi entry o visa.

My question is since April 2011 if I did the same again this year would they still issue a new 12 month multi o visa?

Any one got experience of this since April 2011?

  10. I am also on a multi entry O visa issued in the UK which expires on the 23/11/2011, so does that mean if i leave the country say on the 12/11/2011 to go to Malasia for arguements sake and then return to Thailand on the 22/11/11 I will get another 12 months stay on that first multi O visa untill 22/11/12! sorry if that sounds confusing but I am confused!
