  1. My wife has been suffering from lower back pain on and off for a long time now and when we were in the UK saw a chiropractor who did some manipulation and sorted it out, now its come back again and we were wondering if any TV members know of a qualified chiropractor in Hua Hin?

    Thanks

  2. Thank Lite Beer and Charlie H for your very helpful replies, so the plan is:

Do a 90 day border run just before my current multi entry O visa expires on the 23/11/2011 so that would take me up to 23/2/2012.

Ensure the 800,000 is in the appropriate account by 23/12/2011 (2 months before applying as it is my first retirement extension)

Go along to immigration on the 23/1/2012 with the required documents and fee (30 days before my last entry on the multi O expires)

Does that sound right to you guys?

    Thanks again

  3. Having read a lot of different threads on the subject of getting a retirement visa for the first time I am a bit confused as to what I actually need to do!

I currently have a 1 year multi entry O visa obtained from Hull which expires on the 23rd November this year and am now looking at changing to a retirement visa as my original multi entry O visa was based on our UK Civil Partnership and as I understand it the only place I could obtain another one would be to travel back to Hull, which we don't really want to do, which leaves the retirement option.

Can someone please let me know what documents I will need to provide as well as a Thai bank account showing the 800,000..... can this be a sterling account here in Thailand?

If my understanding is correct the funds only need to be in the account for 2 months for the first application.

Do I need a doctors letter and a report from the local police?

If my current visa expires on the 23rd November and I do a 90 day border run the day before, and get another 90 days can I apply for the new retirement visa 2 months after that border run? i.e 23 January 2012.

I would be grateful for your help and advice.

Thanks....... from a confused Vistana unsure.gif

  4. Does anyone know where the nearest Thai consulate is that will give a one year multi entry O visa based on a UK civil partnership,we got our original one from Hull on production of our civil partnership certificate, no problems at all.

Does anyone know if we could get another one from the Thai consulate in Savannakhet on production of our UK civil partnership certificate duly translated into Thai of course instead of having to fly back to the UK?

Thanks in advance for your help.

  5. We bought the Honda City SV top of the range car in Hua Hin back in January and so far very satisfied with it both for ride, comfort and economy.

The top model comes with wider alloys.....16 inch instead of the usual 15 inch ones as well as electric retractable door mirrors which we find quite useful.

It has a split rear seat which folds again very useful. It also has a mp3 slot instead of a CD player.

We had a leather interior, special tinted windows, rear park sensors and one of Honda's body kits put, which makes it look very sporty IMO.

The paddle gear shift is useful for quick overtaking rather than waiting for the auto box to change down.... so again we find it worth having, and we paid 757,000 baht all in and that included a years free first class insurance.

So we would recommend the City SV form our experience to date.

Hope this helps in your decision.

  6. I will have to do a 90 day border run in the next week or so and at present the nearest place is Nong Kai, I have never used this crossing point before so would welcome any current advice and do's and do not's etc..

We would prefer to leave our car on the Thai side and use either public transport or taxi etc,any idea on current prices and what documents I will need.

Thanks in advance for your replies.

  8. Hi Guys, thanks for your feedback and comparison of upload and download speeds, I am a bit of a novice when it comes to these things but I have just done a speed test using the Thai Visa speed test to the Bkk server and got the following results:

    Ping 428 ms

    Download 358 kbps

    Upload 200 kbps

Can someone tell me if this is good or not? bearing in mind we are paying for the 9 meg download package.

The TOT guy came out last week and tested it and we were getting about 9 or 10 meg speeds and everything worked well while he was here.

Perhaps we should look at changing to 3BB....

Any help and advice would be welcome.

    Thanks

  9. We live in the the Tippawan area of Hua Hin and currently use TOT internet, with a wireless router, we are paying for speeds up to 9 mgs but never get anywhere near that speed, we have had a new line installed from the lamp post outside our house to our wireless router and TOT tell us the line in to the village is fine, however we are now starting to have problems watching things like You Tube and streaming other programs, the screen just freezes, you try repairing the internet connection from the computer but this does not alway seems to make a difference.

What ISP are other forum members using, particularly if your in the same part of town to us?

    Thanks for your help.

  10. Hi Bakseedaa, we actually have a house in Hua Hin which is our main residence but we often have to spend several nights in Bkk, maybe up to 10 nights per month sometimes so we thought it might be better to rent an apartment than pay a hotel.

I dd not know you could not keep a dog in an apartment, anyone else got experiance of this?

If anyone knows of dog friendly hotels as per my OP please let us know.

As for the apartments up to 10,000 baht a month would be ok as well.

Look forward to any suggestions on hotels and apartments.

How big/small is your dog Vistana, I also have a place in Hua Hin Soi 102 ( just took it on) Maybe we can help each other here.. I also have a condo in Bangkok at Sathorn...Soi Naradhiwas 14.. Do you use a car..? and is the dog quiet..?

    Hi Bakseeda,

sorry for the late reply to your last post, our place in HH is just off the Samorprong road near to soi 10. Our dog is a three month old Shih tzu and she is quiet, we want to go to bangkok on a regular basis as my wife plays table tennis and the best clubs are up in Bkk, before we bought the dog we were ok staying in cheap hotels for a couple of nights but now its virtually impossibe, we are looking for a resort in Bkk or just outside but to date no luck. We do drive and have our own car.... but before we bought the dog we went up to Bkk on the mini van.

Hope your settling in to your new place in HH ok.

  11. Does the money have to be in a Thai bank account? or can you use funds you have in accounts overseas, in the UK for example, I have a UK savings bond which would cover the 800,000 baht requirement but would I need to bring it to Thailand and put it in a Thai bank account for the two months prior to application?

  12. Hi Martindavies and all those who have offered constructive help, the link you posted Martin will be very useful, thank you very much.

I will not comment further on the unhelpful post by a certain member as I don't wish to sound negative.... I have found most members on the forum to be very helpful and have gained a lot of useful knowledge since I started reading the forums.

If we discover any hotels that accept small dogs i will of course post to let others know.
