  1. Mine was £500 baht for the flight then another £3000 for visa's, citizenship, uk passport and the rest on Thai food, but well worth it.

Sent from my ST25i using Thaivisa Connect Thailand mobile app

  2. My wife and in-laws are Thai and my kids will be 6 & 4, none of us have been to Phuket before, I just don't want to end up somewhere, where my mum and in-laws are not comfortable. Yes Colonel_Mustard it's a family holiday, we're also doing BKK and the north-east, just thought it would be nice to visit the south.

  3. Traveling to Phuket in October with wife, 2 kids, mother, mother-in-law and father-in-law but not sure best place to stay, we're looking for somewhere with a bit of life, good beach plenty of shopping, not bothered about bars, all suggestions welcomed, thank you.

How do I now get a short holiday visa for my girlfriend. She has never been out of Thailand before. We just want to take a few weeks with my family in UK. Any clues?

Simple answer is you can't, unless you are happy to pay a bribe, but then that was at the embassy in bangkok, now it's an agency so they might be harder to bribe but it's always worth a shot

  5. Why do some people get involved in something that is of no concern to them, I am glad he is going and i hope others with the same view leave as well.

I wholeheartedly agree. None of us foreigners who spend our money and live here should have any opinion at all on anything to do with Thailand and should do an Oliver Twist and just hold out our bowls for as much sh*t, harassment and shakedowns as the Thais want to give us. None of us should complain, none of us should take any interest in human rights abuses, corruption or other unsavory practices.

We should all just forget everything we've ever thought about morals, integrity, fairness or honesty the moment we get off the plane and exist in out own little cocoons oblivious to anything that is going on around us - then this will be a very empty forum left just to people asking the price of a motorbike tire or where to buy Marmite

If you don't like it then go back to where you came from, as other posters have stated we are but guests in Thailand, and while I'm not here full time, when I am I accept that there are many things about Thailand that might annoy me but there is nothing I can do about them and have to either accept them or go back to my home country.

  6. Evening all,

My wife has been in England nearly three years. This September my wife can apply for her naturalisation and then apply for her British passport. I will be taking a post in Hong Kong early next year for the foreseeable future and I was wondering if it would be advisable to get my wife a British Passport before we emigrate? My wife currently has ILR and I am aware if you are out of the country for more than two years (which we will be) then immigration can revoke her ILR. I was thinking of flying my wife back to the UK to see my mother once per year to avoid her losing ILR but then I am not sure if this is the best option. Can anyone please advise as I am unsure on what to do.

    Best wishes,

Of course you should get your wife a British passport as soon as you can. It will make everything simpler in future. No more visas for half the countries you'd have to jump through hoops for with a Thai passport. To be honest I'm surprised you even have to ask this. Read your post back to yourself and find a reason to say no.

Here'sa damm good reason to say no £950.

  7. I'm confused, if the op's ex wife wants to apply for a visa to visit her son and wants to work. She's not allowed to work until she gets a visa but might need a job to prove she can keep herself and thus obtain said visa, surely if anybody offers her a job then they are breaking the law as at the time of her applying for said job she isn't allowed to work, no?

  8. No resemblance at all!

The Scots have for the last 13 years been bought and paid for by the English thanks to the Scottish Mafia wing of the Labour party. Without the ENGLISH money Scotland would cease to exist. Why do you think that donkey in charge of the SNP has never pushed for complete autonomy ? Because he knows that without the huge cash subsidies from the English Scotland would go broke.

To try to compare what is happening here in Thailand is senseless. The SNP didn't achieve anything by non violence they were handed it on a plate to help push though decisions in Parliament.

The only comparison between the two is that in Issan they get drunk on Lao Kaow and in Glasgow it is Buckfast :) Oh and it is a dam_n site safer in Issan than it is in Goven !

LMFAO, you sound like a typical clueless englishman who believes all the bullshit fed to you by consecutive UK goverments, lets see where england would be without all the Scottish gas & oil money from the last 30 odd years. The SNP are a bunch of halfwits, just like all politicians, and have no interest in Scotland, they just want to get on the EU gravy train.

Its interesting to note the last Tory government never attempted to give Scotland independence when it would have virtually guaranteed them re-election in Westminster for the next thousand years or so. Why was that hmmm oil and gas? Surely not....!

Not sure where you're from Smokie36 but the reason the last Tory goverment didn't "give" Scotland it's independence is because nobody can give Scotland it's independence, we have to take it for ourselves and to be honest I don't trust the SNP as far as I could throw them so it's better the devil you know.

  10. On a daily basis, I read posts which deride Thai women as being money-hungry scam artists, of being stupid, of being unable to love, and so on. I read posts which deride Western women as being sexless harpies who hate men, take everything in a divorce, are "fat, disgusting slobs," are "bitches," and so on.

Well its true is it not ??

And that illustrates my point exactly.

And the truth is the truth wether you like it or not. If that is the experience of a poster on this site then that is what he is going to say.

  11. The Thai embassy in London is first come first served, appointments aren't kept. The visa section is open from 9:30 - 12:30, there is a massive queue outside at 9:15, your best bet is to arrive at about 11:45 and it will be a lot quieter and thus quicker.

P.S. Our sons passport arrived after 4 weeks but my friends son's passport (Which was applied for at the same time) arrived after 10 days.
